Best supermarket oven chips?

FawnDrench · 01/07/2020 16:11

As there seem to be far too many variations of oven chips to choose from, I am looking for your tried and tested recommendations please.

I prefer a chunkier chip, but would consider anything really.

Thanks.

I can recommend Iceland's "Ridiculously chunky beef dripping chips".

Tasty and fluffy potato inside.

Aldi. The ones in the green bag.

McCain Gastro Chips are AMAZING. You need to turn them once but they are oh so crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

Aldi - Specially Selected - Maris Piper Chunky Oven Chips.

Black packaging.

reinacorriendo · 01/07/2020 16:27

@BlueLadybird

Aldi. The ones in the green bag.
We like these too, my kids always fight over the big chip and we’ve had some impressive ones lol.

I like Aldi skin on fries they’ve just started doing

Simonsaysitschristmas · 01/07/2020 16:31

Another vote for McCain Gastro chips!

Xyzzzzz · 01/07/2020 16:33

I prefer McCain but out of supermarket brands Aldi or Morrisons are good

cliffdiver · 01/07/2020 16:35

Another vote for the McCain Gastro chips.

ChipsyChopsy · 01/07/2020 16:39

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference.

Ricekrispie22 · 01/07/2020 16:40

If Im buying oven chips I do like Lidls deluxe chunky chips made with Marie Piper potatoes. They are huge, you only need a few but they are delicious

SauvignonBlanketyBlank · 01/07/2020 16:43

Lidls triple cooked beef dripping chips. The absolute best

WellThatHurt · 01/07/2020 16:50

Another vote for the mccain ones. I used to buy any old chips, wasnt fussy...until i had these

MogHog · 01/07/2020 16:54

I know you said you like chunky but the new Aldi skin on fires are amazing.

forgetthehousework · 01/07/2020 16:57

Albert Bartlett Home style for me, although as @MrsVeryTired said they don't always have them so I buy two packets when they do.

Inextremis · 01/07/2020 17:03

Tesco Finest are chunky and tasty.

ThomasHardyPerennial · 01/07/2020 17:04

Aunt Bessie's home style chips!

frustrationcentral · 01/07/2020 17:04

Another vote for the chunky Maris piper ones from Aldi (black bag). I don't eat many chips, but these are good when I do!

Bagelsandbrie · 01/07/2020 17:06

The Gastro ones are the only ones worth buying. We’ve tried loads. They are super fattening though as they’re covered in lard / beef dripping.

Smallsteps88 · 01/07/2020 17:09

I had Albert Bartlet skinny chips for the first time this week and love them! Not a fan of chunky chips- sorry.

Lazydaisydaydream · 01/07/2020 17:11

McCain gastro chips. Honestly nicer than most chips you get in restaurants!

Roselilly36 · 01/07/2020 17:12

McCain home chips or gastro are lovely.

BradleyCooperwillbemine · 01/07/2020 17:12

We're on the Gastro chips tonight for tea - can't wait!

Northumberlandlass · 01/07/2020 17:24

Albert Bartlet skinny fries! Have not had better frozen chips!
