Everyone watching?

Oh my God what a fantastic set.

David, the world tipped on its axis when you left us!

This is the first thing I’ve enjoyed since lockdown began. I miss live music so much.

I was there but annoyingly can't hardly remember anything about it at all. Probably because we were on the Cider Bus side Grin

He was so great! Missing him now more than ever :(

@Starksforthewin

Mrs Terry

Have you ever recovered the use of your legs? 😀

He was a lovely person. I live in a small village in the north east of Scotland. When he came to visit his son at school, he lived nearby. The locals respected his privacy (in the local pub, walking round the golf course...) and have nothing but good to say about him.

Ghostlyglow · 29/06/2020 15:45

I loved Bowie but I thought the Glastonbury set was a bit rubbish...

JollyAndBright · 29/06/2020 16:11

I was there, The crowd were 100% not disengaged, the atmosphere was incredible everyone was just in awe of him.

I was 15, it was my first festival and I was so desperate to see Bowie from a good spot I got right to the front of the crowd as soon as we got in there and stayed in that spot all day.
Out of the thousands of gigs and festivals I’ve been to in my life it is still one of the greatest.
He was truly incredible.

I am yet again wishing MN had a ‘like’ facility.

I would be throwing ‘likes’ all over this thread.

Thanks for sharing that UrsaMinor 👍🏻

This thread and Bowie trending on Twitter for over 24 hours reminds me just how many people are out there, missing him, and eagerly jumping on an opportunity to share their love for David with everyone else who felt the same.

As one of the oldies, I am delighted to see how many younger people are still into him and his music. Not many artists get to be loved by generations. ❣️
Well done to all those parents who ensured their children were properly brought up in the Bowie tradition.

I saw him live when i was 14, it was amazing!!

Cooltalkin · 29/06/2020 20:17

Haven’t watched the Glastonbury set yet ,, recorded it and plan to indulge ,,, love him
Saw him in I think it was 87 at main road Manchester and previously at Milton keyNES bowl maybe 82 ish
Would have loved to have seen him again
Legend , we will never see an artist like him again
He was the Soundtrack of my life

Starksforthewin · 29/06/2020 20:33

Amen! @cooltalkin

I saw him at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester, 2007, I think, when he was touring ‘Heathen’. It was a mini festival (Move, I think?) so we were there a good few hours before Bowie to see other artists and it absolutely bucketed down with rain. The heavens opened!

I mean biblical! We were soaked to the skin. You know when denim get wet? My jeans were so heavy I could barely move my legs!

We were panicking in case it would be slippy on the stage and not safe for the performance. Shouldn’t have worried. He came on, the sun came out, and another beautiful performance followed.

Happy memories. So many.

I'm so rubbish with Twitter, how do I track down the Bowie content? That's brilliant above! 😆

Starksforthewin · 29/06/2020 22:49

If you go onto the ‘Search’ function and do #Bowie or #GlastonburyBowie or any combo of those, you will find so many threads from last night and into today.
People sharing their memories and raving about the set.
Some ‘celebs’ or blue tick people joined in as well.....

Happy reading 👍🏻

I didn’t realise at first that the Scott Lynch tweet was originally sent a few days after David died. It was retweeted like crazy last night.

Even more meaningful now, given that the world has gone even more to shit in ways we couldn’t have possibly imagined!

I also saw him in 1973 when I was 14 - a life-changing experience.

A friend saw him at Glastonbury in 1971 - the first time.

Been getting into the album "Man Who Sold the World" recently. It's even better that I remember.

Nowifi · 30/06/2020 00:18

So jealous of all of you who got to see him live!

Also gutted I wasn't born on a Thursday so I could be "Thursday's Child" one of many favourites.
