How long did you all wait before getting married?

I’m getting married in August and feeling curious - would love to hear other people’s engagement and wedding stories! We have been friends/colleagues for 7 years and got together two years ago as a couple. We got engaged in February this year and decided with all the virus craziness we’d like to marry sooner in a small ceremony and plan a big reception for next year to celebrate rather than wait to be married. We have both been married before (my decree absolute only came through recently due to a very torturous and lengthy divorce!).
Our families and friends are mostly hugely happy and supportive, my MIL to be has suggested she thinks it’s too soon .
Anyone out there get married even sooner than us (surely there must be?!)

Met in October 1981.
Engaged April 1982.
Married February 1983.
DD born July 1983.
Separated January 1994.
Divorced April 2000.

Met Sept-Oct 2017 (1st kiss was 1st of November). Moved in June 2018, DS was born Oct 2019, getting married Apr 2021. We couldn't be happier :) Like you OP we had to wait for our decree abaolutes bit we've always said if we had been able to be married we'd have married within months of meeting !

Got engaged almost 2 years after meeting then married a year after getting engaged. I was 31 when I got married if that makes any difference. We’ve been married almost 16 years and have 4 children.

Met Dh in July 2015. he proposed Dec 2016 and we married Sept 2018.

Previously I had a 16 year relationship and a 6 year one and I never felt I wanted to marry either of them. Dh was my 'one'

Met Apr 2010, started dating May 2010, engaged Dec 2011 and married in Aug 2012 so eight years in August. 🙂

Started dating my late DH in March 2003, gave birth to our son in June 2005 got married December 2005. Two more babies 2008 & 2012 and he passed away February 2018. 😥

I would now except I've not got round to sorting my divorce paperwork out . I knew it was right after 2 months, but it it will probably be 2+ years because I'm waiting for the new no fault divorce legislation to kick in, I don't want to accuse exh of anything

Met Feb 2016, engaged Feb 2019, married august 2019, baby due in 5 weeks been fast paced since Feb 2019. Once you finally make your mind up to be an adult why wait!!!

Fairly standard I think. We’d both been married before so just a quick registry office with our parents.

Together 18 months, didnt bother with an engagement, just the wedding. Celebrated our 30 th anniversary in April ❤️

We were 21 when we met and we got married a couple of weeks before we both turned 26.

I’m also getting married in August

But we’ve been together for 8 years and have 2 children. There’s no right or wrong. No one knows what the future holds!
