How long did you all wait before getting married?

I’m getting married in August and feeling curious - would love to hear other people’s engagement and wedding stories! We have been friends/colleagues for 7 years and got together two years ago as a couple. We got engaged in February this year and decided with all the virus craziness we’d like to marry sooner in a small ceremony and plan a big reception for next year to celebrate rather than wait to be married. We have both been married before (my decree absolute only came through recently due to a very torturous and lengthy divorce!).
Our families and friends are mostly hugely happy and supportive, my MIL to be has suggested she thinks it’s too soon .
Anyone out there get married even sooner than us (surely there must be?!)

We bought a house together after 2 years and married after 4 years of knowing each other. Been together over 30 years now.

17 years. You don't want to rush into these things

We met and married within 15 months.
No regrets.

Together for 10 years before he proposed, married two years later and baby three years later.

Met in 1997, started dating 6mnths in, engaged 2007, married 2012, dd2013, been together more than half our lives now

We moved in together 13 years after we first met and married another 13 years after that. It's going well so far, we're just coming up to our 7th wedding anniversary

Engaged within six weeks but we did have a long engagement. Still together 20 odd years later.

Met age 17 and 18 engaged after 6 months. Married 2 years after engagement.

Friends for a year 1st then I asked dh out in the November (6th)got engaged the following September 18th and married the year after again September 9th this year will be 3 years Married and 5 years together

My parents got engaged 6 months after meeting and married 6 months after that. Still happily married 52 years later.

Whereas it took me and DH 7 years from meeting to marrying. Still happy 17 years later though!

Got engaged after 2 weeks (we had spent 2 nights together, got married 6 months later (we spent 2 months apart in between) Still happily married 20 years later.

@ChangeOfNameNeeded07 we aren’t in England - weddings have been happening in Northern Ireland since 8th June

we were married a bit before 4 years of being together, we'd lived together since about 4 months.

Oh @ChangeOfNameNeeded07 I just saw you had a wedding cancelled, I am so sorry to hear this - the govt is supposed to be allowing them again in England now too. I really hope you get to rebook it soon

16 years, after two houses and two children

Together for 9.5 years so far.
Engaged after 6.5 years in August 2017.
Married after 7.5 years in August 2018.

Engaged after 9 months and married 10 months later.

We are still happily married 10 years on, but when I think back at how I rushed into things, I cringe. It was mostly luck that it worked out. I wouldn't be happy if DC did the same.

We were together for almost 6 years before getting married.

About the same as you, we'd been together about 2 years when we got married. We were engaged for around a year of that. We were 20 when we got married. You can imagine the reactions we got . 6 years on we have a 2 yr old and are as happy as ever.

Two years

Met 2007, got together 2008, engaged 2013, married 2015, DS 2019 and I don't think we'll make it to 2021.

All different for everyone.

20 years so far, I might make enough money for it to be necessary one day but so far we are doing fine.
