I think we are close in age, I'm 65. What were you doing in Sheffield. I grew up in Rotherham. Went to Sheffield as a Student Nurse in '73 and moved to Barnsley (where my Dad was born) in 2000. So I have the area surrounded. 😀

Feing disgustinly hot and sweaty again. Doesn't help that I'm humbly drying my third load of laundry of the evening. Between dh working on the garden and Ds2 pissing on everything, I had a backlog. Didn't dare hang stuff out, today

Mumsnet is bad enough at those times of the year. We have sooooo much to look forward to.

Councils have lost a huge amount of money due to not hosting summer festivals/events, parking charges etc etc. They also have to shell out money to implement changes to allow social distancing. I'm not surprised that they are loathe to commit to winter events. It doesn't have anything to do with the second (fiftieth?) wave

Omg Halloween!!!!😲😲😲 It's bad enough on here repeating endlessly that Halloween and guising has been around in Scotland for centuries without the dementors getting hold of it! Wonder how many people those pesky kids will murder going out for sweets!

I think it’s probably sensible to cancel events now but it’s the dementoring that PEOPLE ARE DYING when someone’s dared to express disappointment about it that’s irksome

Argh, today is not a good day. So I have had CONTINUAL GASBAGGING. Literally all day. DH, mother, Junior Mole. It is a wonder any of they fuckers have any breath left. It is continual.
Junior Mole (aged 10) is now refusing to sleep in his own bed any more. Too hot, too cold, too noisy, too much cat, whichever. This has always been a thing but since this shitshow has been conspicuously worse. DH sat up with him tonight getting increasingly hysterical - he COULDN'T sleep - and eventually DH lost his shit and said he was going to have to stay up all bloody night then.
Sadly I then lost my shit and got cross with DH for being shouty.

DH is now asleep in Junior Mole's bed. Junior Mole is asleep in our bed.
I'm downstairs writing books and thinking at 1.30am why bother going to bed - the answer being sadly that tomorrow I shall have to spend another day being TALKED AT and taking mother shopping and going to the farmers market and other bollocks.

I haven't pulled an all-nighter in the better part of 30 years and this may be interesting....

Was thinking of going to our caravan , just north of york today but weather looks shite

So missed our favourite bands this summer. Nothing we loved more than going into york on a Thursday and listening to robin at the white swan or catching one of hyde family jams gigs in and around the town.
They play at a lot of weddings..so a double whammy for them.
No fringe festival
No pop up Shakespeare ( that wasn’t happening before Covid)
I wish I could wake up back in the summer of 2019

Just got my garden all done and now won’t be able to sit in it ☹️
We didn’t get any rain yesterday, so it’s probably been saved up till today
Grumpy mr Dowser was quite achey last night ...so he was excused .
I’ve tried a new treatment on him, so I hope he feels a bit better.

We’ve both got treatments booked with our therapist at end of first week in July ..we are so ready for them.

I need more sleep..or I’ll be grumpy mrs dowser...that won’t bode well

cattermole what a shit of a day! I pulled an all-nighter a couple of months ago to work - and I loved it. Me, totally in my zone doing MY thing with nobody jibber-jabbering at me. Paid for it the next day - no good deed and all that.

nihiloxica will those be our grandchildren? Given our daughters aren’t going to be needing an education because the kitchen sink and “messy crafts” don’t give a fuck about your unfulfilled potential and intellectual desires?

Thankfully it is raining here today breaking the heat a little. DH also very anti dementor, angry and about schools, mask wearing and the like. Even by my standards he is very so. Oh well better than the opposite I guess. Hope you have a good day, it is the weekend so thankfully no work rolling in for the DCs.
