Need to adhere to guidelines this time though.

Trying to find a link.

On the subject of beaches, there is a photo circulating of our local one on social media. It is quite obviously photoshopped as some of the people are at weird angles and there is a building and a huge section of the beach missing in the photo.

I pointed this out and was met with people telling me I am lying and therefore part of the problem.....some saying that it doesn't matter as it is "still the point" whatever that means.

But the thing that surprises me is how many times it has been shared by friends and on local pages....THESE PEOPLE LIVE HERE...HOW CAN THEY NOT SEE THAT A HUGE PART OF THE LANDSCAPE IS MISSING

They also go on about peaks and waves, despite the fact that pretty much the same picture was shared after the last sunny weekend and a call to close to the beaches to protect the locals and close the beaches, now at that point we averaged 2 cases over a 7 day period, we now average 0.56 cases over a 7 day period....So I will just sit here and wait for the inevitable wave....

Its like the whole town has completely taken leave of its senses.

Gavin Williamson has said that he wants all children to face the front of the classroom when schools reopen in September.

The education secretary told Tory MPs that he was concerned that in many classrooms children were sitting at round or square tables facing one another.

He said the approach was “wrong” and that he wanted to “get the class to pay attention to the teacher” when lessons resumed.

Mr Williamson is preparing to double the size of teaching “bubbles” to 30 to get every child back to full-time education by September. Under the plans social distancing could be scrapped in schools.

@Drivingdownthe101

Has anyone else seen the new DofE guidance saying that there is absolutely no expectation of social distancing in schools, either inside or outside? It seems to be being kept quiet!
Randomly I had a chat with our deputy head this morning (Im also vice chair of governors so we chat quite a bit) and said its odd that the govt are coming out with 1m plus guidance for industries but not changing it for schools, he told me that he had read that the govt are now systematically going through all the previous guidance and removing any reference to 2m.....
Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:11

That's all I have seen so far

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:13

I hope they don't make them wear masks. Like that plus thing

Drivingdownthe101 · 26/06/2020 14:13

Yes I think that’s what seems to be happening Livin. Rather than expressly saying the guidelines are changing, they’re making it look like they never said students have to be 2m apart in the first place!

IAintentDead · 26/06/2020 14:14

I was a student nurse in the early 70s at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Every medical ward had 2 or 3 babies/toddlers in oxygen tents from Nov to Mar with respiratory viral bronchiolitis or pneumonia. Far more than have ever been ill with Covid 19.

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:15

Why aren;t they doing things like opening more toilets etc in these areas, making things easier not harder for people. They could have toilet like at festivals. (Hmm actually maybe they are not so great!) Grin

Pertella · 26/06/2020 14:17

If you're at a beach then surely you just swim out far enough...

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:17

That's what is was like when DS was in the hospital I was supposed at the wee children and how many had those illnesses in winter. Naive I suppose.

IAintentDead · 26/06/2020 14:21

@Orangeblossom78

Oh actually sorry they (France) opened some and then closed them again due to the crowds etc

www.connexionfrance.com/French-news/French-police-crackdown-on-crowds-at-beaches-and-parks-after-lack-of-physical-distancing-in-deconfinement

and did some swim but not sunbathe thing as well Hmm

uk.reuters.com/article/uk-health-coronavirus-france-beaches/swim-but-dont-sunbathe-french-riviera-beach-re-opens-with-post-lockdown-rules-idUKKBN22S0RJ

There was somewhere else (maybe on here) mentioned with strict rules about women and men and stuff, can't remember where though.

Wouldn't it be brilliant if Bournemouth became a woman only beach for the foreseeable.

Was my first thought, second thought was women on their own and families with men only allowed if part of a family unit.

IAintentDead · 26/06/2020 14:23

on the other hand women only does sound brilliant

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:24

All these men brawling is very off-putting I have to say

SomewhereEast · 26/06/2020 14:28

@Orangeblossom78 I'm Irish & my hometown is having exactly the same issues with big crowds along the seafront whenever the sun comes out (which does actually happen in Ireland, honest Grin) & young people gathering to party. My family there say social distancing is definitely sliding. Likewise my genuinely-high-risk German friend is endlessly frustrated with how everything is sliding in her country. Its really not just the UK

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 26/06/2020 14:29

Scotland 'not far away' from eliminating coronavirus

I wasn't aware that was the plan but good news for people up there - but wales has hit month high in figures due to the factory out breaks in North Wales.

TheGreatWave · 26/06/2020 14:29

The beach I was at yesterday was just ridiculous with the loos. Every other one was taped shut, despite them being fully enclosed. The result of half the number of loos was a queue, so you had people standing near each other in a queue whilst also people having to walk past out of the ladies and then also the men leaving the whole block.

I'm over my dementory episode, ironically from reading so much Hmm shielding stuff that I've gone from "oh fuck" to "fuck this" in less than 24 hours Grin

Funnily enough, I had pneumonia earlier this year (still recovering) and it was the illest (is that a word?) I've ever been. I actually believed I was going to die at one point, and it wasn't even that severe in pneumonia terms! My lungs are a bit fucked anyway which doesn't help (and adds to the dementory episodes!)

Re the deserving and underserving oh yes (and YY agree also there is definitely a feminist issue here which might be another thread) I was actually thinking if I don't "deserve" a ventilator anyway as a Shopping Shielder ™️ I may as well fuck off to the beach anyway as I can't be less undeserving once I'm in the category already? Grin

I do actually think a proportion of beach goers were total fuckwits not because of CV (agree about the photo angles) but taking a dump on the beach or blocking ambulances is fuckwitted in general.

Being completely honest my name is FuckYourBubbles and I'm a dementaholic I am judging a little bit the people who weren't social distancing in any shape or form as I (I'm so sorry Grin) have the involuntary thought "you're going to infect my DC and then me"

But then I'm not planning to spend extended amounts of time in the company of people who take a dump on the beach or hit each other with sticks (unless they're under 7 Grin)

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:32

Ok so the best beach loos I have seen were the National trust ones - not too dementory either, they just took the main door off and put signs to wash hands - quite a busy day and they were empty as well.

Worth finding NT places perhaps. Also, no charges like normal

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:32

recently I mean

TheGreatWave · 26/06/2020 14:33

Gavin Williamson has said that he wants all children to face the front of the classroom when schools reopen in September.

Well he can just feck right off can't he. I sat around a table (well we had proper opening desks) If Maggie thought it good enough for me, it is good enough for today's feral children.

OhFuckOffWithTheBubbleBollocks · 26/06/2020 14:35

Ooh I also wanted to say we stayed at a campsite a few years ago that had "private access" to the beach. The owner was telling me that they could only "control" the access to the beach via their land, they couldn't advertise it as a "private beach" as all the coastline legally belongs to the crown. I don't know how true this is?

So if so, would the Queen have to ban people? Obviously we are all poor to her and therefore underserving so she might not give a fuck Wink

Orangeblossom78 · 26/06/2020 14:38

I oddly quite like the idea of them all at desks looking to the front. I think they do that at secondary anyway.

InsaneInTheViralMembrane · 26/06/2020 14:45

I am now irrationally cross. Just received an end of term newsletter from the school complete with “what have the staff been doing?”. Baking, gardening, running, open water swimming & TikTok videos. 🙄 meanwhile nobody from the school has phoned to check in nearly 2 months despite some problems we’ve had this year and my eldest being assessed for autism. I don’t know whether I ought be flattered they think I’ve got shit under control or not. I had heard the unions had put the kybosh on schools contacting parents - out with their remit type thing.

The pictures indicating academic progress seem to show at this point only 3 families playing the game.
