If you had £100 to spend on yourself, what would you buy?

I’m leaving a well loved work team after 3 years and they’ve had a whip-round and have got just over £100 to spend on me (not really supposed to know but my boss has told me as hey don’t know what to get me). This is incredibly cringey as had I had known I’d have told them a bunch of flowers would have done the job. But it’s a delightful dilemma to have.

What do I want? Absolutely no idea. Ideally something lasting to remember the team by, and probably not vouchers as not sure what will still be open by the time I next get to the shops.

Inspire me. What would you want to receive in that budget?

I just bought myself a ring from Pandora as I have saved a little during lockdown and I'm really happy with my present to me Grin

BlessYourCottonSocks · 22/06/2020 21:31

I would like really lovely bed linen (and towels) if it will stretch. I love my bed.Smile

Also, you spend about a third of your life there so it should be luxurious.

ItchyScratch · 22/06/2020 21:32

The current situation ruins this but I would have a £100 voucher for a spa place and have a massage/ facial/ pedicure Because I’d never buy this for myself (All my money goes on the kids) but is jump at the chance for that luxury.

SandysMam · 22/06/2020 21:35

I would buy a Jo Malone fragrance or candle and a nice body oil. Love Jo Malone but so expensive!

ButDoUAvocado · 22/06/2020 21:38

One of the super duper luxury Neom candles which are £120 (little bit over budget) down from £150.

GreenAfternoonTeaMug · 22/06/2020 21:43

Oh i would do something holiday-related. To boost my holiday fund. Or to buy an experience on holiday. Or a meal out on holiday. or an epic souvenir from my holiday.....

......

Can you tell lockdown is starting to give me cabin fever? !

Purpletigers · 22/06/2020 21:47

A small sterling silver photo frame or a framed print .

Purpletigers · 22/06/2020 21:48

Or some earrings ?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/06/2020 21:52

A rose bush or tree for the garden? Or a couple of big houseplants in nice pots?

Piece of jewellery?

New dining set?

Lovely teapot and matching mugs?

Le Creuset baking dish, or cake tins or something of that ilk?

Bargebill19 · 22/06/2020 22:01

Jewellery most likely some very nice earrings or a pendant - handmade from a craft jeweller.

cherrypiepie · 22/06/2020 22:17

Something luxury eg Mulberry card holder or similar luxury brand

Cashmere scarf

Pen/ key ring/ Tiffany

Vouchers for a hobby eg garden centre

Headphones/ Fitbit

Polkadotpjs · 22/06/2020 22:17

Trinny London make up currently but as a work thing, Neom candles or a set of something lovely like wine glasses or posh mugs

Siddalee · 22/06/2020 22:20

I was given an unexpected £100, so I bought my self a Ted baker cabin bag- reduced from £200 to £100 in the sale.

Had to cancel our holiday this year, but oddly this purchase cheered me up at the thought of how lovely it'll look next year

Impatientwino · 22/06/2020 22:22

White company dressing gown or throw

I have their summer weight one and it's so gorgeous, it hangs really nicely, has lace on the cuffs and I feel all swishy in it Blush

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/06/2020 22:25

Cabin bag and gown both really good suggestions,

MasterMargarita · 22/06/2020 22:31

I recently left a job and my colleagues collected £125 for me in a form of an Amazon card. I bought new beds for my daughters Grinnot very extravagant, I know! I did look at some nice workout clothes and equipment, also nicer variety scented candles.

forevercurious · 22/06/2020 22:39

New duvet and bedding! Going to be my next treat for myself :)

frazzledasarock · 22/06/2020 22:46

Practical things for me.

A really good thick mattress topper

Dunoon fairytale mugs I’ve got some I want the whole collection.

Square shaped heavy planters for the plants in our front garden as the regular shaped ones keep falling over.

Money towards my wedding shoes. Getting married this year even if it’s just the officiant, me & DP and guests via zoom 😆

Book vouchers I’m always buying books.

Gardening equipment, I’ve recently taken up gardening and really really loving my little garden.

Ooh that’s a lot of things I can think of.

PomBearWithoutHerOFRS · 22/06/2020 23:44

A new book, a bottle of Jim Beam, and a night in a hotel with a swimming pool.

Beekeeper1 · 23/06/2020 00:07

Well, I am in desperate need of a new wheelbarrow and would like one of the large capacity Haemmerlin barrows with built in tool rest moulded into the body!

Cheekychops73 · 23/06/2020 00:25

I have managed to save a wee bit up in lockdown and treated myself to a pair of Doc Martens got them on sale they are they purple sparkle ones have wanted them for ages but always spend my money on kids/house but thought fuck it.I love them ( starting the monthly process of breaking them in just now 😭 If someone gave me £100 quid prior to me buying them that’s what I would have bought.

Pipandmum · 23/06/2020 00:26

Gift voucher for a massage and facial.

DanniArthur · 23/06/2020 00:28

I'd buy a new pair of boots and a nice top because I always put off buying new clothes/shoes as I've loads in my wardrobe so feel obliged to spend our money on necessities.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/06/2020 08:49

Actually I do currently have £130 unexpectedly to spend on myself. I think I'm going to get a sewing machine.

Lovelydovey · 23/06/2020 12:06

Some fab ideas - thanks vm
