Help finding U.K. seaside location

We love Cornwall but it’s a very long drive from us. Does anyone know of anywhere else in the U.K. that has nice beaches and seaside towns please? Ideally sandy beaches with a bit of a wave to the sea, not too busy, and not full of arcades and fairgrounds.

Llyn Peninsula north wales - probably avoid Abersoch if you want it quiet though. Porthmadog/Harlech have lovely beaches.

LavenderLilacTree · 22/06/2020 21:42

Devon or Dorset

Rosesarere · 22/06/2020 21:46

Norfolk has some beautiful beaches, Brancaster is my favourite, there is holt near by and Wells which are also lovely

I agree norfolk, especially if you are east Midlands.

Fruitbowlflowers · 22/06/2020 21:49

Another vote for Northumberland.
Bamburgh beautiful (especially view including the castle) but we love Duridge bay 7 mile stretch of beach and inside the country park there is a lake, play park and woodland.
Along the coast as someone said Tynemouth has English Heritage priory and war time museum. It also has surf schools and aquarium, mini golf but no amusements.

itispersonal · 22/06/2020 21:52

Wells next to the sea is a lovely beach and place. So I'd recommend north Norfolk way!

RiftGibbon · 22/06/2020 21:56

Wales has lots of beautiful beaches.

Mouldiwarp1 · 22/06/2020 21:58

Just Google Norfolk beaches. Basically, it’s the whole coastline - something to suit everyone.

Poetryinaction · 22/06/2020 21:58

Yes, Pembrokeshire or Northumberland.

FlyingFlamingo · 22/06/2020 22:01

Pembrokeshire
Gower
Anglesey
The Llŷn Peninsula
Cardigan Bay

Basically anywhere on the Western side of Wales Grin

DrMaryMalone · 22/06/2020 22:02

Fife, especially around the East Neuk and St Andrews where you have the West Sands, Tentsmuir and also Elie which has nice beaches.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 22/06/2020 22:02

North Yorkshire coast is glorious. Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood's bay, so charming and lovely sandy beaches.

Northumberland is awesome too. Bamburgh, lindisfarne, warkworth, all amazing places along the coast. It's a very long way for us so don't go often but I adore the area.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 22/06/2020 22:03

West wales

Minniee · 22/06/2020 22:07

Devon.

loopyloo12 · 22/06/2020 22:11

Bournemouth or Broadstairs has lovely beaches

NewMumma1819 · 22/06/2020 22:18

Another vote for Norfolk/Suffolk coast line here! We always go to the beach (live in Norfolk). Holkham is beach only, no shops etc, has a woods to walk through first and there is Holkham Hall which opens in the summer for walks, picnics etc. But most of the Norfolk beaches are lovely. Horsey Gap to see the seals in March too Smile

OatcakeCravings · 22/06/2020 22:21

East Neuk Fife, particularly Elie.
Whitby
North Norfolk
Northumberland
Nairn

Ellmau · 22/06/2020 22:25

Bournemouth is gorgeous - lovely golden sand and loads of it. It does get very busy, so head up to the Christchurch end for a quieter experience.

wejammin · 22/06/2020 22:30

Filey/Whitby
Seahouses or Bamburgh in Northumberland
Barmouth (my favourite)
Lytham and St Annes
Anglesey
Llyn peninsula

We love the UK coast. Still dying to try the Scottish coast and Irish coast but not made it yet.

converseandjeans · 22/06/2020 22:35

Aberdovey
Tenby
Woolacombe
Beer
New Forest

TheNestedIf · 22/06/2020 22:52

Another vote for Tenby. We went there when I was 4 and I've never forgotten it.

SoosanCarter · 22/06/2020 23:03

East Lothian has wonderful sandy beaches and so quiet. It’s the best kept secret ever.

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 22/06/2020 23:07

Bamburgh beach it's stunning

It's in norththumberla

buckleten · 22/06/2020 23:20

The beaches on the Gower peninsula are stunning, and not crowded. Norfolk also really nice, Northumberland has always been a bit windy and cold when I have been!

SurreyHillsGirl · 23/06/2020 06:08

Northumberland beaches are beautiful in a wild, dramatic way, but they are often windy and chilly! Stick to the south if you want a chance at some decent weather.
