Will this wallpaper go with this rug

I've ordered this rug today which I love and I'm waiting on a new tv unit and sofa before I wallpaper and put everything together. I was planning on using this wallpaper in the second pic on the tv wall which I've had for a while waiting to be used. There's another wall at the end of the room where my dining table will go painted in dulux natural skate, the rest of the walls white.

I'm not not sure if the wallpaper will clash with the rug. What do you think? If you think it will clash, what do you recommend I do with the tv wall instead.

indecisiveness1 · 22/06/2020 16:49

I'm just not sure if they will go together, can't really picture it

It's all pretty standard Mrs hinch style pale grey shimmery velvet.

It won't clash as it's all similar neutral tones. I'd be more concerned that it'll look bland and date badly

Floralnomad · 22/06/2020 17:00

I agree with the pp it’s all very bland and wishy washy , id have gone for a more colourful rug and matched it to some cushions .

indecisiveness1 · 22/06/2020 17:03

I'm not into colours, I like greys and neutral colours. I know it's not to everyone's taste

I think you need a bit of colour and I'm sorry but the beautiful style of sofa doesn't go well with the abstract modern rug.
I'd choose a different rug with colour.
A rich emerald or plum would look opulent with that style sofa.

Apolloanddaphne · 22/06/2020 17:16

There is no way it can clash because there is a complete absence of colour. It's not really a look I would go for. What sort of flooring are you laying the rug on?

Gluestick80 · 22/06/2020 17:19

They won’t clash as they’re both the same colour.

Bluntness100 · 22/06/2020 17:22

I think they are too Samey op. Too Matchy Matchy. So it doesn’t work.

So I’d go for a plain rug, dark charcoal or grey or cream. I guess you like mrs Hinch she does it well if you like that, but her stuff isn’t matchy Matchy it’s tonally the same. Which is very different. So she has wallpaper like that, but her rug is a plain grey.

GoldenHoops · 22/06/2020 17:24

It will look lovely indecisiveness1 When you've finished everything, wait a few weeks and decide if you need a pop of colour. You could either do that with a picture or just cushions. Everyone's taste is different, but it's your home.

Finfintytint · 22/06/2020 17:30

If you like it, go for it. It may look like an over exposed photo but if you like the clinical look then that’s your choice.

Snozwanger · 22/06/2020 17:34

I know grey is not to a lot of people's taste but OP is obviously set on the colour scheme.

I do think the pattern of the wallpaper and rug are very similar from a distance and may make the room a bit samey. I would mix it up by perhaps choosing a more textured rug or something in those colours but with a bolder pattern.

Happydaysforever123 · 22/06/2020 17:35

I'd go for a light cream rug, still neutral but I think all very low too samey.

Happydaysforever123 · 22/06/2020 17:36

All grey not all very lowConfused

steppemum · 22/06/2020 17:41

They are all shades of soft grey, so in theory yes.
BUT not all shades of grey are the same, and you might find that one is a silvery grey and one a beige grey and they don't look great, but you can't tell that from a photo.

Your room will be very neutral, and pale grey. Could be very cool and calming, but I think that is going to look a bit bland and cold unless you add some darker/contrast/colour in to give it some body.

steppemum · 22/06/2020 17:43

Just seen you don't like colour.
Neutrals that would give it all some body are darks like charcoal, or wood for warmth.

indecisiveness1 · 22/06/2020 17:48

I've got hard wood flooring, so the flooring isn't grey at least. I've also got some prints from desenio to go on a photo shelf on another wall which are a neutral pink. I was thinking it's an option to maybe getting rid of the wallpaper idea in the living room and I could put that in one of the bedrooms instead and paint the wall instead, if that would look better? Do you think the colour would have to match this wall though? This is where the dining table will go. It's my first house that I've owned so trying to get my head round what will go with what

Agree that you need more variation in tone and texture otherwise it will look quite bland (and I live in a house that is all painted white, no problem with neutral spaces here, if anything for me that wallpaper is too patterned).

What is the floor? And is the wallpaper for all walls or a 'feature' wall? What other furniture do you have in the sitting room, bookshelves or coffee table? If your other walls are painted white and you have a rich brown wooden floor and bookshelves crammed with interesting books then it will look great. If you have all grey walls and grey flooring under the rug and no books or art then it will be dull. You might need a disruptor colour somewhere, e.g. maybe a yellow or pink or orange or red or green chair and then a vase or electrical flex or cushion in the same colour as the chair but it's fine if that's not your thing.

indecisiveness1 · 22/06/2020 17:51

These are the prints. DP wouldn't care if I painted the walls black so he isn't much help when it comes to deciding on the interior!

The wallpaper was just going to go on a feature wall, where the tv will be

PolloDePrimavera · 22/06/2020 17:53

I do agree with PPs, it is a little samey and I don't mean to be rude. I get that you like grey, I do too, but I would really think about adding an accent: cushions/vase whatever in navy say. It won't clash and will just lift it. Otherwise there's a danger of not really noticing any one thing as it's all so similar.

LochJessMonster · 22/06/2020 17:56

I have an all grey bedroom and love it! Grey bed, curtains, carpet, wardrobes with a geometric grey wallpaper.
It feel ‘cool’ but not cold, and also feels ‘clean’ which I like.

CountFosco · 22/06/2020 17:57

Oh, is that your room, it looks lovely I like the floor. Like the idea of the neutral pink prints, pull out the pinks somewhere else in the room, what about a pink roof in a light toning shade or would that be too challenging?
