Will this wallpaper go with this rug

I've ordered this rug today which I love and I'm waiting on a new tv unit and sofa before I wallpaper and put everything together. I was planning on using this wallpaper in the second pic on the tv wall which I've had for a while waiting to be used. There's another wall at the end of the room where my dining table will go painted in dulux natural skate, the rest of the walls white.

I'm not not sure if the wallpaper will clash with the rug. What do you think? If you think it will clash, what do you recommend I do with the tv wall instead.

I think the wallpaper is nice as a feature wall and the rug will match and go well with the paper. When choosing colours there is a difference between matching and contrasting and so I think the sofa would be overkill.

The pink is a nice touch. Some pink accents elsewhere would be a good idea.

The soft pink will be a nice accent.

I have a very similar rug, white leather sofa, wood floors, cerise banquette seating and glass dining table (open plan) and lovely dark cockodile wallpaper from gp & j baker on one wall, it adds texture and strangely some colour, also loads of real houseplants - the walls are painted with little green paint, a sort of green/almost sage/grey. works really well.

I understand what you all mean about it looking a bit wishy washy I'm thinking against that wallpaper now so back to the drawing board. Would this be any better?

I just ordered a sample of that wallpaper! I really like it I think it would look lovely with a wooden floor.

indecisiveness1 · 22/06/2020 19:48

@frantic17 I've got that many samples I can't remember where I picked it up from as I've had it a while! Do you have the name of it so I can check price etc?

I just noticed you posted a second wallpaper which is also lovely but the first one I'm pretty sure is from I love wallpaper and is called Milan metallic x

Chewbecca · 22/06/2020 20:10

Perhaps use some more of the dusty pink from the pictures elsewhere in the room - the rug or wallpaper?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 22/06/2020 20:21

Why not use the dusky pink on one wall instead, would look nice I think

iwilltaketwoplease · 22/06/2020 20:49

Get some pink cushions in different textures if possible, they will tie in with the prints which are lovely!

indecisiveness1 · 22/06/2020 21:56

I like the idea of a few pink cushions, I'll wait until my sofa arrives then get a few to match

Just an update.. at first I wasn't sure about much colour but as the room was starting to some together I totally agreed it needed something more than grey! I've bought 4 pink cushions not these ones these are from a spare bedroom upstairs and I changed the wallpaper. I'm really not sure on the rug now! What do you all think? Does it go?

Room looks lovely, like your pink vase on the gorgeous TV unit. Agree I'm not sure about the rug with the sofas, they are too similar pattern and texture wise, at least in the photo. Also the rug is a bit small, you have what is called a rug island, the advice is generally to anchor it by having the legs of a sofa over it (although just realised Mum's rug doesn't go under the sofas and it looks fine so it might be one of those 'rubbish in photos, fine in RL things). Are you planning on having a coffee table?

Nanalisa60 · 01/07/2020 22:47

I really think it will all look lovely, it not everyone’s taste but it’s mine, can you post a finished photo when it’s all done.

Thisismytimetoshine · 01/07/2020 22:50

I don't want to be rude, but it's almost like a black and white photo. The rug is really not nice.

Floralnomad · 01/07/2020 22:53

I don’t think either the rug or sofa go with the floor but the sofa might look better without the rug . Does the rug look so shiny in real life or is it the photos .

Srictlybakeoff · 01/07/2020 23:01

I’m another grey lover and much prefer it to lots of colour .
Your sofa is lovely. But actually I think you would be better with another rug . It’s all too similar .

FamilyOfAliens · 01/07/2020 23:20

I always think it’s fascinating how different people’s tastes are when it comes to home decor.

I’m house hunting at the moment and I can’t believe how many houses have been decorated entirely in grey. It’s almost like people have forgotten how to make a house look stylish with different colours.

I always click away from the grey houses, especially if they’ve been decorated for sale. Way too much redecorating to bother with!

indecicivenss1 · 02/07/2020 08:14

I'm agreeing that the rug is too similar to the sofa texture wise, I said that to my mum when I sent a photo, her and DP really like it, but DP has probably just had enough of me changing everything. I'm going to have another look today for a different rug and most likely take this back. I've borrowed my mums rug to see what it looks like but I'm not keen on that either. I don't want to buy one online so if anyone has any suggestions where to look apart from dunelm/next please let me know!

Floralnomad · 02/07/2020 12:01

John Lewis do rugs so you could look there

Sally872 · 02/07/2020 12:07

All looks lovely, OP. Love the rug but agree with others possibly a bit too similar to sofas.
