Is this a verucca?? *warning, pics attached...*

Does this look like a verucca? Its on the side of my little toe, noticed it about a month ago and though i had got a splinter (gardening in flip flops...)

Wasnt sore at this point so was picking it to try and get the splinter out.

Over the last week or so its started getting pretty sore and tender to touch. It has a little black centre which may be a splinter but may also be the middle of a verucca i think?

What do i do to get rid of it? I kinda want to attack it with tweezers and nail clippers but i think its too sore for that.

Is it hard? It looks like it wants to peel off

KeirStarmerDonkeyFarmer · 21/06/2020 19:54

Doesn’t look like a verruca in that photo. Is it more painful when you press on it or if you squeeze it from the sides?

It looks like it could peel off but it doesn't have an 'edge' theres no skin lifting off anywhere. Its more painful if i press on it, not actually that sore to squeeze.

It looks like a bite or possibly a Tick?

Butterflykiss00 · 21/06/2020 19:57

Or even just something stuck in it

CatsMother66 · 21/06/2020 19:58

Doesn’t look like a verucca to me. Looks like a splinter type thing which has been there a while, has puss around it and will soon burst to expel the splinter.

DENMAN03 · 21/06/2020 19:58

Looks like it needs a good squeeze. Poss a splinter? Doesn't look like a verruca

CatsMother66 · 21/06/2020 19:59

Pus not puss!

ScottishStottie · 21/06/2020 19:59

Hmm maybe my original guess of something stuck in it is right. Would a splinter cause an infection if not removed? Theres definitely a little black dot in the middle of it.

What would be the best course of action to try and get it out? Do i need to cut it open and dig around? Its difficult because of where it is, i cant really get to it myself and dp is very reluctant to go near it, hes scared of hurting me.

Will it just burst on its own if i leave it? That might work...

Before it got too sore i was squeezing it a lot but it wasnt doing anything.

I'm leaning towards no, and it looks like you'd need to pick away a but to see but you don't want to do that because you could spread it if it is a verucca. I would get some salicylic acid from the chemist and apply it for a week so the top layers come off and you'll be able to tell better what is going on.

Lucked · 21/06/2020 20:04

I once (unwittingly) stepped on a thorn and about two months later had a spot like that. I managed to squeeze it out and then felt a bit faint.

slipperywhensparticus · 21/06/2020 20:09

Wack a plaster on it with some drawing ointment see if it gets bigger

SoloMummy · 21/06/2020 20:49

Do you have savlon or similar cream? If so apply, put a plaster on and it may push itself out.

quarentini · 21/06/2020 20:53

It's a corn. Get some corn plasters and it will be gone in a week

I have sudocream, will that do the same thing?

Looks like a corn to me

Signalbox · 21/06/2020 21:51

Defo looks like a corn. And it's in exactly the right place for a corn. Has it got a hard core?

Ironmanrocks · 21/06/2020 22:07

It's probably infected around the splinter. I've had similar (but not as big!) I would prick it with a sterilised needle, smother it in Sudocrem and have a look tomorrow. Sudocrem should help draw out gunk overnight. If you can't then squeeze out splinter you'll have to head to the docs. Don't leave it just in case...good luck. X

ScottishStottie · 21/06/2020 22:47

Ive ordered some corn plasters to get delivered tomorrow so have left it alone tonight and will stick a plaster on it tomorrow. From a bit of googling, i agree that it looks like a soft corn, so hopefuly this will work! Thank you!

Be careful with corn plasters, if it’s not a corn you could do some real damage with them.

What did it look like when you first noticed it?

ScottishStottie · 25/06/2020 15:53

So after 48 hours in a corn plaster, it now looks like this... Planning on leaving it uncovered for a while , having a bath then peeling it to see what its like underneath...

Does this look like what a healing corn should look like??

OP posts:
ScottishStottie · 25/06/2020 17:15

Bump please... Started googling corn plasters and have now scared myself that ive damaged it more...?

Should i put another one on or leave it to air out for a day or so?
