Long Tall Sally closing - where else for tall clothes?

Pollyputthepizzaon · 18/06/2020 12:58

I'm 5'9 with a very long body so I've shopped heavily at LTS for tops and jumpers, cardigans etc.

Most "tall" ranges just don't cut the mustard. I find Boden tall range still short in the body for example. Does anyone have any other (online) shops they recommend?

the tall collective might be worth a look?

I'm 5'10" also with a long torso. I gave up on LTS a long time ago, shocking prices, dreadful quality.
I've always found Boden tops short fitting. I usually buy Primark for long sleeve plain tee shirts, they are long and the arms actually cover my wrists. But I've been trialing H&M as they are more ethical and have just had two lovely thick ribbed tees from their 'concious' range. M&S are hopeless, always short or short in the sleeve, I have a White Stuff linen blouse that I love, but it is really a bit short and comes untucked.
I like men's shirts, the tailored versions are fitted similar to women's, my favourite being a Ted Baker charity shop find. I also like men's jackets. M&S mens wool/casmere slim fit jumpers can be OK, although their xs does vary. You can get menswear in very slim sizes, especially if you look in teen/youth ranges.

Gap, M&S and Old Navy (imported from US) are my usual buys. Gap has nice basic tees in tall size.

H&M often has longer shirts that are not officially 'tall'. You have to hunt for them, though.

I’m 5’10, long body and arms and use Next tall, but also buy a lot of tunics from WhiteStuff and Seasalt as I find they suit me quite well, Seasalt also have started doing a tall size in dresses and coats so I have bought some dresses and a smart coat from there. Some Fatface cardigans come up fairly long in the sleeve and length also

Sad to see LTS go as I did get some nice cardigans and tee shirts type tops from there, also a lot of the other tall brands are not really for those over 6 ft that LTS catered for, they also sold shoes in very large sizes that other brands don’t sell in their tall ranges

DeadHeadedDaisy · 19/06/2020 21:15

Off the top of my head Next, Topshop, New Look, Dorothy Perkins, ASOS all have tall ranges.

For jumpers m&s men's have long bodies and arms.

Shinebright72 · 19/06/2020 21:18

Topshop

Cheesecakejar · 19/06/2020 21:19

I am 5 foot 7 inches and bought some regular leg jeggings from dorothy perkins the other day and they are a bit too long so I imagine their tall range will be quite generous!

RiverCrossing · 19/06/2020 21:27

I’m 6ft and have shopped almost exclusively at Dorothy Perkins for years 😊

RiverCrossing · 19/06/2020 21:28

Mind you saying that, I am all legs - 38 inch inside leg - their tall range is great for jeans but I can’t comment on the long body situation!

LoveMySituation · 19/06/2020 21:29

As I have size 11 feet, it's hard to get shoes, out of three places I could use, one went last year, now LTS, I now only have one place left to get shoes. I really need that one to stay open Grin

Browzingss · 19/06/2020 21:30

TOPSHOP has a tall range? I know they are worlds apart from Boden, but you should be able to pick up jeans at least

thenightsky · 19/06/2020 21:32

Every pair of jeans I've bought in the last 10 years has been LTS. Fuck knows where I'm going to get 36in inside leg now. Sad

Shinebright72 · 19/06/2020 21:36

@Browzingss yes TOPSHOP does a tall range 5ft9 and over. They do a petite size too.

Saz12 · 19/06/2020 21:37

It’s arm length I really struggle with! For jeans Next has a xtall range.
Although LTS was really rubbish quality and not great designs, at least I could get winter coats/jackets that fit.

Moltenpink · 19/06/2020 21:41

Tk maxx has always been great for jeans, just go to the section with your waist size then look for the ones hanging the lowest down!

Dorothy P tops and anything Topshop.

I haven’t tried TOAST, but apparently they are long length?

JellyfishandShells · 19/06/2020 21:47

Not my area because am not tall myself, but sad to see another good niche retailer go after being around for a long time. My SIL is going to be put out by this .

BikeRunSki · 19/06/2020 21:47

@LovingLen, his do the Seasalt tall dresses fit? I’m not that tall (5’8”), but all my height is in my back. The waistlines of dresses often sit right on or under my boobs - Seasalt is particular bad for this, but I haven’t tried their long dresses. In my experience tall dresses are just longer in the skirt and not in the body, which first really help me.

tectonicplates · 19/06/2020 21:50

Dorothy Perkins for maxi dresses. I'm petite and their petite maxi dresses sweep the floor when I try them on, so the tall ones might be extra-long.

Longdistance · 19/06/2020 21:51

I’m 5’10” and shop at New Look, DP, ASOS ans also Zalando have tall clothes, a company call YAS, kaffe, Wallis tall. Just put tall ladies into the search bar and all the tall makes come up.

StrawberryJam200 · 19/06/2020 21:54

@LoveMySituation tell me your last remaining shoe retailer, am always looking for new sources for my extra wide 9s! Thank you.

Pollyputthepizzaon · 19/06/2020 22:05

Thanks everyone. I loved the cardigans from LTS so that’s the main thing I need to replace. They were nice and long in the body and arms and didn’t stop at my waistband like most cardigans!

Will check out these suggestions and bookmark this thread!!

LoveMySituation · 19/06/2020 23:11

@strawberryjam200 Magnus is my only remaining, and I know they do wide fittings too. Good luck

pinkrocker · 19/06/2020 23:15

I don't know if linking to FB is allowed but there's a huge group that I'm on called Long Tall Sally Buy/Sell/Trade and you'll find a LOT of clothes on there, and it's only Tall ranges.

LovingLen · 20/06/2020 05:45

BikeRunSki. the 2 dresses I got weren't waisted as the style doesn't suit me, this was one of them and the fit was very good, the band is sort of mid way between the bust and waist so falls in the right place. The tall ones seem to sell out very quickly though so they probably don't make many,
