Long Tall Sally closing - where else for tall clothes?

Pollyputthepizzaon · 18/06/2020 12:58

I'm 5'9 with a very long body so I've shopped heavily at LTS for tops and jumpers, cardigans etc.

Most "tall" ranges just don't cut the mustard. I find Boden tall range still short in the body for example. Does anyone have any other (online) shops they recommend?

I’m 34” and use next. They have longer lengths still in some styles.

TheCanterburyWhales · 20/06/2020 11:54

I'm 5'10 and Next XL are perfect.
M&S and Boden long are fine too.
Seasalt tops are longer than Boden and Joules etc.

@pinkrocker

Thanks for that LTS FB suggestion. I've applied to join.

There's an LTS FB group with lots of suggestions

habibihabibi · 20/06/2020 12:10

JCrew who are also closing have most items in tall fits.
Second NEXT for trousers.
Boden tall is rubbish.
I tried buying plus size in sales and get things altered . I think in the main the UK plus sized market caters for shory roly poly women. rather than tall and proportionally sized women

Dilbertian · 20/06/2020 13:15

Lands End.

Can't remember what they call their tall range.

Lovely quality and frequent sales.

So nice to have tops that reach my wrists without having to be stupidly baggy in the body. And so nice not to be exposing my stomach every time I lift my arm.

CallarMorvern · 20/06/2020 15:01

Rivercrossing
You are only 2" taller than me, but your legs are 6" longer 😆 Shows how we are all proportionally different (and it explains why tops are invariably too short on me and my boobs are always in the wrong place🤦‍♀️)

BarbedBloom · 20/06/2020 15:43

I am 6ft 2 and get stuff from Next, Boohoo and so on. It is a struggle though

Splattherat · 23/06/2020 12:35

My body isn’t particularly long I struggle more with leg length in trousers, waists too high on dresses, jackets and coats. I am also tall and plus sized which is a complete nightmare.

Maybe join these Facebook pages for tall women. One has ideas of alternative stockists with the closure of LTS. One of the members has emailed a variety of CEO’s at various retailers to approach them about filling the gap in the aftermath of the closure of LTS.

The other site sells second hand LTS clothes but it is much more than that it also has lots of useful tips, members share purchases that are long enough from other non tall retailers, tips about clothing for tall children, prams for tall people, shape wear for tall people etc.

I find next XL are a good fit in jeans for me.

I have long legs and arms so struggle with tops to fit properly (doesn’t help I’m stupidly chunky at the moment) but have found some gems at primark. Sainsburys do some decent tops in a longer length as well.

Could never get my head around H&M sizing but will have another look.

I have to admit I did give up on long tall sally a long time ago.

WaxOnFeckOff · 23/06/2020 13:15

I'm 5 10 and don't really consider myself tall anymore, though to be fair I might only be 5 9 nowadays as I'm mid fifties. I don't really find tops a problem but do need a long length in trousers. I find Next long perfect but the XL/Tall drown me. I would say I'm probably quite proportionate I suppose. Next also do a long in some dresses which seem a good fit.

I only bought once from LTS and found it too long.

unicornhelp · 23/06/2020 13:21

Those asking about shoes, try looking at a new brand called Otto and Ivy, made especially for tall women. They're a little pricey but lovely quality!

pinkrocker · 23/06/2020 13:58

Oh yes Otto and Ivy! I'm sure Caitlin Jenner visited her shop and raved about them?

Deelish75 · 23/06/2020 14:38

I'm 5.10. I have a long torso and I find my main go to places are next tall and Sainsbury's TU (which really surprised me) I have bought from Dorothy Perkins and New Look as well.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 23/06/2020 14:46

I'm 5 10 and love the Seasalt tall range.

Not surprised the LTS has folded. I used to buy trousers there ( 36") but they seemed to change the cut to suit a more boyish shape and I'd have yards of material flapping around my waist.

I haven't been able to buy any formal black trousers for years.

Really sad about LTS closing but I haven’t actually bought much there recently as it had really gone off.
But since hearing the news that LTS are closing for good in August, I have joined forces with other tall women to lobby major retailers. We are asking them to be more inclusive and to cater for tall women both on the high street and online. We hope that together, we can provide evidence to retailers in the UK and overseas that there is a viable market out there.
We’ve created a survey and asked as many tall women worldwide to complete it. This will gather basic information that we believe retailers would be interested in.

Here is the survey please could you all complete it and pass it onto any tall friends or family www.surveymonkey.com/r/NHYFDS6 and here is a link to the FB page please your spread the word, in the hope to get as many people on board in our quest to have access to clothes and shoes that fit.

I am 5’9” with very long legs, I stand hip to hip with 6’3” brother. Dorothy Perkins standard trousers are great length wise and I am going to try their tall range for tops.

Splattherat · 25/07/2020 22:29

Great @WitchQueenofDarkness 👍

Shizzlestix · 26/07/2020 00:45

JD Williams do up to a size 9, also wide fittings. Evans do up to an 11 in some styles.

I’ve just looked at Otto and Ivy, I can’t justify paying over £100 for a bog standard pair of flats!

Kpo58 · 18/08/2020 16:21

Long Tall Sally now have new owners, so hopefully that means we will be able to still stop there.

Bishybarnybee · 18/08/2020 16:39

Yes, I posted a new thread about it earlier today but it has disappeared into obscurity. I guess the fate of LTS is slightly niche interest but vitally important to a few of us.

Probably too much to hope that they will re-open regional stores? I couldn't forgive them for closing my local one, just not the same having to go online, especially once the fabrics got so dodgy, you couldn't be sure quite what you were ordering.

Kpo58 · 18/08/2020 17:07

I only knew about the London store. It was the only place I know that did tall clothing and then you could pop over the road to Magnus for shoes or Crispins if you had lots of £££££.

Toomanyapplesinthefruitbowl · 18/08/2020 17:13

I’m 5’11 with ridiculously long legs. Levi’s for jeans and Boden for everything else as far as I’m concerned, but they suit my body shape

listsandbudgets · 18/08/2020 17:33

Drapers say its been sold to Yours Clothing Hopefully this means the long and tall of you will still be able to find clothes to fit :)
