Cat pic please 😊

MyMumTracyBeaker · 17/06/2020 15:54

How lovely! We picked our cat up from the rescue last August and it's hard to remember life without him! He's currently snoozing on the window sill whilst I work.

Rescue advised we keep him in for 8 weeks, which we did, but he did allow us to put a harness on him, so we went out in the garden during that time. He often tried to escape over the fence and had to be winched back up Grin, but he had a nice time spraying his scent over various plants whilst he was under house arrest!

He had a couple of accidents in the first few weeks and I realised it was because he would sometimes need to go twice overnight, but wouldn't use the litter tray if it was dirty. So I put two litter trays down until he could go outside by himself.

Get a refillable catnip toy. He acts as if he's drugged when we put fresh catnip in it!

*lighthearted but seriously op, a dcat boast and no dcat photos? Are you usually such a meanie?
Grin

Would love to see a pic. She sounds cute Smile

Honesttodog · 17/06/2020 19:14

Excuse all the corona rolls... she is sleepy but a still alert to every noise as all the doors are closed. She came up to chill on my lap today which feels like a win after a day wanting to give up on everything. Lockdown is misery, thank goodness for kittens!

She's beautiful. Sorry if you have already said, what's her name Smile

tmh88 · 17/06/2020 19:18

Beautiful cat! We rescued our cat.. well I think he thinks he adopted us! First day he walked straight out of his cat box and jumped on the couch and claimed his spot Grin

SallyWD · 17/06/2020 19:20

We got a rescue cat and he hid for the first few weeks. He found a way to get under the kitchen cupboards and we didn't see him for ages. I knew he was OK because he'd come out and eat when we were asleep. It's very, very normal for new cats to be scared at first and hide while they suss out their new environment. Don't worry if this happens! Don't expect her to be loving and playful in the first few days/weeks. Keep her in one room for a week or more with safe places to hide. Just be gentle and quiet around her and never force her out of her hiding place. It will just scare her even more. If you give her time she'll reward you by being the most loving, content pet! My cat is now very much at home, follows me everywhere, sleeps on my lap but it took well over a month for him to relax.

SallyWD · 17/06/2020 19:24

Ah just seen your update! She looks very happy already! Mine was like that too for the first couple of days before he started hiding. Hope that doesn't happen to you. She's beautiful.

I’m becoming increasingly more tempted to adopt. She is a beauty Op. Do you know why she needed to be rehomed?

minipie · 17/06/2020 19:31

Oh lovely! She looks like a tabby version of ours who is ginger and white.

Ours was super affectionate and bold for the first week (contrary to all the usual rehoming advice) but she then hid for the second week which threw us a bit!

I think she had “post cattery” desperate need to explore and have cuddles - but then once that wore off the nerves kicked in.

Just to mention in case the same happens to you. She didn’t stay nervous for long :)

TroysMammy · 17/06/2020 19:37

She a pretty kitty. Do you know about the Litter Tray on Mumsnet as you are now a devoted cat slave?

fussychica · 17/06/2020 19:40

She is beautiful and looks very similar to Myone, her name as she was mine! I no longer have her but she was a feral kitten we saved when her mum died of skin cancer. She lived to a good age. I'm sure she will make you as happy as Myone made us!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/06/2020 20:06

Come and join us over in the litter tray. It's a great community!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/06/2020 20:07

That is one smug looking Kitty. I think you are already under the paw!

MissConductUS · 17/06/2020 20:17

She's adorable and sounds very sociable.

Welcome to the worldwide community of cat slaves owners. Grin

AlCalavicci · 17/06/2020 21:04

She is lovely, has she been named yet ?

caringcarer · 17/06/2020 21:18

I have 6 adorable cats. 1 insists on sleeping in ironing basket, washing waiting to be ironed. Very annoying.

Frownette · 17/06/2020 21:19

Cat looks like a happy little soul Smile

LadyOfTheCanyon · 17/06/2020 21:21

CAN WE NAME HER??
< overexcited>

Honesttodog · 17/06/2020 21:53

She came with the name Arla which we all like and we are sticking with. I couldn’t face an argument between DC over whose name was chosen etc. DS says he would have liked to call her Pierre Hmm

Arla is a purrfectly perfectly fine name for her.

Just be aware that she has her own secret cat name which you will never know and couldn't pronounce even if you did. Smile

What a beautiful cat! She looks as if she's settled in very well.
Honesttodog · 18/06/2020 12:48

She seems happy. Am wondering what to do about introducing her to the rest of the house. She is quite skinny and likes to hide, I guess we should introduce her room by room. Am nervous she get inside of something and get trapped etc. How did you introduce yours to your home? We usually have all doors open and are quite relaxed about that - hard to be mindful about it! Also it’s so gloomy with all the doors shut....

I adopted two adult cats 18 months ago, I just let them go explore but remember you can no longer shut any door with out checking!! I haven't shut my wardrobe doors since we got them Grin she might find a cosy spot and have a snooze! She's beautiful, took one of mine three months to come near me she was so distrustful!
