WHY CAN'T I COOK RICE??

In the past few years I've tried to improve on basics.

Now I can cook omelettes, steak, basic cakes, roast pork with proper crackling.

BUT I CAN'T COOK RICE

cooking rice in the oven was a revelation for me. half rice to water, any flavourings, cover tightly with foil. start off at about 190 but soon as it goes in, turn down to 140. should take about 30 mins for between 100-300g rice. stir once halfway and fluff afterwards. pretty foolproof (me- proof)
