Would you be happy with this drawing?

NC

I draw as a hobby.

I volunteered a drawing as a raffle prize for a local rescue.

I submitted previous pics and people bought a ticket based on that. So they have seen my style.

Orange pic is the generic pug.

This is the winning pups photo and blue is my 75% finished picture

Would you be happy with it?

I'm panicking as I've never sold anything. Just done it for myself.

Your drawing is more pleasing than the actual dog. So would like your art work, but not the dog !

Medievalist · 11/06/2020 19:01

If people have seen your previous work and know you'll be producing a cartoon like replication, then it's fine. Not to my taste but I seem to be in a minority!

Thought the first picture was the painting and was very shocked. Confused

I would be happy with that. It's very cute. Smile
They have already seen your style and bought a ticket so they must like that style.

crimsonlake · 11/06/2020 19:21

As someone said art is subjective.
Not my cup of tea but if there is a market out there for it then go for it.

MrsEricBana · 11/06/2020 19:21

I'd be delighted!! Well done, it's great. I like it much more than the one on the orange background which is a bit too cartoony for me.

MuthaClucker · 11/06/2020 19:24

Yes I think it's great. And I would say if I thought it was shit Grin

MuthaClucker · 11/06/2020 19:25

Although I wouldn't actually say 'it's shit', I'm not a knob headed or anything

sohypnotic · 11/06/2020 19:25

I like it for a cartoon style artwork, but you should add the white highlights like in the example pic, otherwise the detail of the mouth area is a bit lost when looking at it from a distance.

RedRed9 · 11/06/2020 19:27

Well done OP. This style is very common on IG so if you’re doubting yourself maybe take a look on there?

wineandcheeseplease · 11/06/2020 19:27

Yes! I want one of my cats! Lol

Samtsirch · 11/06/2020 19:29

It’s not my style personally but I can tell that it’s very well done and looks professional.
If that’s the style I had chosen and was expecting then I would be more than happy. I think you have a great talent.

Wiaa · 11/06/2020 19:30

Basing it purely on the style of the original picture I'd have seen when entering the raffle then yes I'd be more than happy

Pogz92 · 11/06/2020 19:30

I showed him and he loved it and his friend has asked for one too!

I told her I don't want paying so have asked for a donation to the rescue in leu of payment.

Thanks for the nice comments

Yes the middle is hard as pugs are so dark in the muzzle!

Fabulous pictures @Pogz92 you have a real talent and should be really proud of that Star

Mumoblue · 11/06/2020 19:38

OP if you're using markers what brand do you use? They look great!

HalloumiSalad · 11/06/2020 19:40

If it is the style they expected and is recognisable as their pet (i.e markings in the right place) they'll love it!

I have a portrait of my pet which isn't photo accurate but I can see it is him and the style is the artists, which I like, so I love it!

I would much prefer it to a photo-realism style drawing.

Pogz92 · 11/06/2020 19:42

Mumoblue

They're from amazon, called Touchnew

Couldn't afford copic 😂

Though I did buy Windsor and Newton and much prefer these.

I think you're really talented, they're really cute and catch a lot of character, my mum has two pugs and it's the kind of thing she'd like. Also if people have seen your work they're not going to be expecting a serious type piece, your work is fun. 😬
Also I'm the same with my crafty stuff (crochet) Iike making things as gifts but hate it if someone says how much etc. Its too much pressure.
Out of interest, how much would you charge...??

Deadringer · 11/06/2020 19:47

I really like it.

ThickFast · 11/06/2020 19:48

It’s really good. Wish I had that kind of skill. I’d be so happy with that. Really modern looking

Stingeray · 11/06/2020 19:52

It’s great! Well done.

longtimecomin · 11/06/2020 19:56

Fab, well done!!

technosausage · 11/06/2020 20:14

Bloody brilliant! I'd buy you pictures.

justanotherneighinparadise · 11/06/2020 20:16

Lovely!! You should think about greetings cards OP.
