Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy from? There’s so many on the Internet I have to admit I’m completely overwhelmed and can’t see the wood for the trees!

A local maker? Have a look on Facebook.

Warmhandscoldheart · 11/06/2020 13:39

Local chemists have them.

TerrorWig · 11/06/2020 15:37

Didn’t even think of local chemists d’oh!

I’ve just deleted Facebook coz it was upsetting me but I could get husband to have a look.

I got mine from M&S. The throwaway kind. Cheaper than local chemist.

Local chemist - 10 in a paer bag=£10

M&S - 3 in a plastic covered card thing that is resealable - £2.50 so 4 packs =12 masks-£10 - bargain!

30not13 · 11/06/2020 16:27

Got a 2 pack of washable masks in Asda this week for £2.50

Ghostlyglow · 11/06/2020 16:34

Amazon

Mnthrowaway20202 · 11/06/2020 16:39

To the contrary my M&S have packs of 3 masks for £3 with a 2 packs per shopper limit.

I don’t recommend them. The masks M&S stock aren’t great, I find them oversized and the wire isn’t malleable enough to mould the top to my nose/cheeks so they’re not particularly fit for purpose. I’d rather spend more money on a higher quality product, or buy a box of the same shitty masks from amazon for cheaper.

TerrorWig · 11/06/2020 18:39

@Ghostlyglow I was going to just order off amazon but there’s so many I don’t know which to go for.

TerrorWig · 11/06/2020 18:39

Is it best to just get a load of the paper ones, or the fabric ones?

OP posts:
Ghostlyglow · 11/06/2020 18:48

@TerrorWig I got both. Some non medical disposable ones and a pack of washable ones. Really cheap ones. Hoping I never use them tbhSmile

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 11/06/2020 18:48

This is mine and I also bought a ginger cat one! They are actually really comfy and my class love them although I don't wear them when teaching!

Dont buy from Amzon or Ebay! Lots of fake masks and horrible quality.
Here is an article telling you difference between masks.

I got some from ELLE Shipped very quickly, reusable, washable and have a pocket for a filter if needed.

Pudding51 · 11/06/2020 22:24

Ordered mine from boots online, £30 for a box of 50.

Ghostlyglow · 11/06/2020 22:58

Fake masks?Grin

Ladybyrd · 12/06/2020 00:11

I bought a pink one from amazon for £9.99, plus another £9.99 for 20 filters.

Not that I'm girly or anything but just thought pink would be less obvious than black or green. It isn't. You can still see it a mile off. Makes my toddler laugh though, so heyho.

TerrorWig · 12/06/2020 00:28

Brill thanks, will check out those links.

@lindaclark1018 that was what was worrying me! The ones available on Amazon all had questionable reviews, and while I'm happy to spend money, I don't want to have to do it multiple times because I've bought crap.

I will be going out tomorrow so I'll see what's available locally first I think. Hoping to not have to use them but want to be prepared just in case.

If you are near Aldi, they are selling washable ones from yesterday.

Deathraystare · 12/06/2020 08:45

To the contrary my M&S have packs of 3 masks for £3 with a 2 packs per shopper limit.

Mine was deffo £2.50 a pack for 3. They fit about the same as the chemist ones I got actually - by that I mean they did not fit well either. They move up to my eyes and 'cut' across. But I only use them when on buses or shopping. By 15th in our hospital we all must wear masks so they will supply those ones. They are supposed to be better.

I saw a man come in who had birds printed all over his mask. Looked good!

I don't want washable ones. I know they are best for the planet blah blah but still.

sueelleker · 12/06/2020 10:14

I asked in Superdrug the other day, and not only do they not have any, they've never sold them!

sugarbum · 12/06/2020 10:20

Have a look on Etsy for handmade masks. You'll get some nice prints. I'm not allowed to link to my shop as it will just get removed, but there are lots of reusable ones on there

Mnthrowaway20202 · 12/06/2020 11:14

I think more stores will stock them soon, particularly fashion retailers. I shudder to think at how much WHSmith at train stations/airports will charge?? They love a good extortionate mark up

The masks my hospital supply look similar to the generic blue ones, but the fit is much better. Fits snugly around the nose without being tight, more comfortable, won’t rise up into eyes, can be worn with glasses without issue etc. The ones from M&S basically sit at my lower lash line so constantly need adjusting!

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 12/06/2020 14:07

I noticed Boots had them in ths morning, three different brands of the blue paper ones. ranging from £30 to £35 not sure how many in a pack.
I'd rather clloth myself, turns ou there are loads of blue paper masks blowing about in the wind and also in the sea.
