Aldi. What am I missing...

Morning. I've shopped at Aldi, for years, but always seem to buy the same things. Am I missing any delights? I'm thinking of main meal ideas. Are there any gems that I need to try?

Soy yoghurt at 89p v Alpro at £1.80 !

I just need them to improve their flavoured ones which only include blueberry (sickly ) and vanilla . Tesco do delicious flavours like raspberry and passion fruit (gorgeous ) and mango but they are £1.25 .
Love Aldi’s goat cheese at 89p

Their bbq rack of ribs are delightful. Quite like their chicken goujons as an alternative to frozen chicken nuggets for the kids. Their Pepsi max is good too. Obviously their nappies but that's a limited market! Apple pies (like Mr kipling). I like that a lot of their stuff doesn't contain diary as DS is dairy intolerant. Their vanilla ice cream is nice, as are the faggots!!

Whatthefunk · 11/06/2020 09:39

Faggots you say! Where are they? The freezer??
We've tried the ribs, and apparently they're not as good as the co-op ones....any other ideas?

Burgers
German meatballs
Paella
Thai green and red curry kits

nevernotstruggling · 11/06/2020 10:21

Pre made frozen cauliflower cheese. Risottos same

f83mx · 11/06/2020 10:22

The Mediterranean pitta breads are lovely - stuff with chicken/salad/peppers/whatever you fancy

ChocRasp · 11/06/2020 10:23

Rosé, Greek yoghurt and olive oil are my recommendations. DD loves their steak.

LashesZ · 11/06/2020 10:23

The porridge pots. Fill with water and leave for 5 mins. I think they're 35p - 300 calories and perfect to keep in work as an emergency breakfast.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 11/06/2020 10:26

The cooked frozen king prawns. Great for adding to risotto etc.
Their beef stir fry packs
Whole uncooked chicken
Chorizo
Fillet steak
All the cheeses

namechangenumber2 · 11/06/2020 10:28

Stir in pasta jars
Risotto
Jive bars
Cookies that have been dipped in chocolate
Teddy face crisps
Frozen pizzas - rectangular ones
Ice cream
Sorbet

Those are the things I always stock up on

Love an Aldi shop, it's just annoying that some of my family are fussy on brands so i can't do a full weekly shop there Hmm

ChikiTIKI · 11/06/2020 10:30

Sliced chocolate Brioche loaf is amazing!!

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 11/06/2020 10:30

Pesto (both green and red varieties).
Their own label supernooodles.
Wine gums.
Cloudy apple juice (round bottles not the milk bottle type)
The filled gnocchi they do every so often.
Feta cheese.
Their own brand cornettos.

ChikiTIKI · 11/06/2020 10:31

I've heard people talk about candyfloss grapes but never seen them 🤔

paxillin · 11/06/2020 10:31

The aisle of doom. Always delightful to return home with an unplanned step ladder, set of boxes or weird kitchen appliances.

ChikiTIKI · 11/06/2020 10:32

Ooh yeah we used to get their own brand white chocolate magnums with biscuit pieces in the chocolate layer and raspberry sauce swirled in to the ice cream ❤️

namechangenumber2 · 11/06/2020 10:34

Forgot to add the stir fry packs - they're about £2.75 but you get meat, veg and a sauce for that. Added to noodles it's enough for my DH and two teenage boys. They particularly like the pork one

Lemonmaid · 11/06/2020 10:36

Moser Roth chocolate
Frozen Salmon en croute
Their own brand ice creams and Magnum/Cornettos
Thai Fishcakes, although I think these were a one off as not been able to find them since Christmas.

Whymustyoubringinthebirds · 11/06/2020 10:37

The chilli burgers are delightful

timeforawine · 11/06/2020 10:40

Agree with the thai red and green curry kits, very nice. The specially select curry sauces jars with the spices in the lid, the pinsa pizza and stonebaked ones, in the fridge section their flatbreads, the mexican one is delicious!.
Chicken bakes in the freezer, just like greggs chicken bakes
They have a new watermelon ice lolly that looks like a slice of watermelon, my husband and daughter LOVE them!
Risotto packets - the tomato one is great with sliced chicken sausage and brocolli cooked in it
Chicken sausages
Their version of ben and jerrys is gorgeous!

timeforawine · 11/06/2020 10:41

Southern fried fish burgers
cheese and onion crisp bakes

namechangenumber2 · 11/06/2020 10:43

Potato croquettes - esp the cheese ones!

florriepeck · 11/06/2020 10:46

Think I've converted elderly DM to some nice Aldi food, while I've been doing her shopping during lockdown.
Probably saved her money, too.

Skyliner001 · 11/06/2020 10:46

Palm oil free ice cream, it's a Scottish name like Mackenzie, and it's only about 1.79.

Skyliner001 · 11/06/2020 10:47

Quorn is also half the price there compared to Tesco.

Pipandmum · 11/06/2020 10:49

Their smoked salmon is good. But that's the only thing I can think of, and it's not that much better to justify a half hour drive to the nearest one.
