Who's in?

On the back of a thread on AIBU a few of us are having our ultimate GBB on Sunday, doesnt matter what time, but you must post a pic of your belly buster!

Mine is a good old fashioned fry up (well grill up, but ya know) with my mothers special recipe fried bread.

Posting now to allow time for your essential shopping, and it is essential!

Yessss thank you! Going to have a think about what mine will be Grin

Sexykitten2005 · 09/06/2020 22:58

Me! Going to be either a fry baguette (saus, bacon, hash mushrooms and eggs) or a couple of saus bacon and egg double muffins with hash brown side. Essentially all the meats with all the treats in some form of carb!

NoWuckingForries · 09/06/2020 23:04

What is your fried bread recipe please? It's been years since I've had fried bread.

I might do a home made sausage mcmuffin. I just take the skin off a good pork sausage. The I have egg and then a cheese or black pepper English muffin.

macaroniandpizza · 09/06/2020 23:09

Heres my pre diet GBB from last week. Square sausage with black pudding atop tiger bread with lurpak. I have lost 5lb since i started my diet and will be incorporating said GBB into a cheat meal soon

Can't wait until Sunday! Need it now!

Zisforstripyoss · 09/06/2020 23:13

Oooh if I remember I'll post a pic in here! i think I'll either have american pancakes with some kind of OTT biscoff spread / chocolate sauce or a selection of bakery items. Plus cappuccino!

Stonerosie67 · 09/06/2020 23:17

That other thread made me both laugh and wince....the competitive undereating was hilarious!
I'm thinking for Sunday some proper smoked bacon from the butcher, a couple of sausages and two fried eggs inside two slices of seeded toast....food of the gods! And lots of tea of course...

BestOption · 09/06/2020 23:18

Sounds like fun! I'll give it some thought tomorrow. (Best not now as I'll need to get up and graze!!)

BestOption · 09/06/2020 23:20

Fried bread - last seen circa 1980.... I can already feel my arteries hardening...

BestOption · 09/06/2020 23:21

What was the other thread called?

Fallsballs · 09/06/2020 23:23

I have a three stage lockdown breakfast that starts with yoghurt, then fake cheese on toast and then cake. I am not a porker.
That competitive under eating on that thread was hilarious, it’s like they’re waiting to pounce on anyone who is naive enough to say they eat anything at all, ever.

RNBrie · 09/06/2020 23:26

Oh I am in. My GBB would usually be Eggs Benedict but I'm taking ideas from this thread.

Gingerkittykat · 09/06/2020 23:34

My mum always used to make home made kind of potato scones made from leftover mash and a little bit of flour fried until crispy. I managed to make them recently and they were lush so I'll have that childhood throwback.

I've not had fried bread since I was a kid, I wonder if I would still like it or would think it was greasy and nasty now.

I'll also have some really nice sausages, some poached eggs, loads of tomatoes, slices of haggis and black pudding and toast spread with real butter.

I'll have some cold toast with more slices of butter and marmalade afterwards.

BestOption here is the other thread.

My mothers fried bread isnt fried. You grill the bacon and as you start to dish up, dip one side (only one side) of thick white bread into the bacon fat and then grill the dipped side like toast. Its much less heavy and greasy than proper fried bread, has the bacony taste and as its only been cooked on one side is perfect for mopping up tomato juice etc.

I am SOOOO hungry now!

Oh I do love a greedy bastard breakfast! Bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns if at home or bubble if in a greasy spoon, grilled tomatoes and toast for mopping up all those lovely juices. Unfortunately DP is not a greedy bastard and this is all just one of the few happy memories I have from when I was married!

FOJN · 09/06/2020 23:50

My GBB would be a veggie full English. My version of a full English controversially includes hash browns but given that there's no meat I'm obviously not a purist or constrained by convention.

Davros · 09/06/2020 23:51

I do love homemade greedy bastard breakfast but I might order breakfast from McDonald's just because I can and chips are available. DH doesn't do a GBB unless there's a potato element.

Fallsballs · 09/06/2020 23:51

The fried bread was always popped in the frying pan at the end of the cooking to mop up the grease. It’s lovely when done properly. Coming from Norn iron our fry’s are a breadtastic feast...soda bread, fried bread, pancakes, bacon, eggs and more bread in the form of toast with real butter to accompany the other bread.
The folk on the other thread would pass out at the sight of it.

Institutkarite · 10/06/2020 00:02

My favourite is a breakfast buffet, now banned. Start with fruit, tinned grapefruit segments, some fresh orange, watermelon, apple. Feeling very healthy. Also large amounts of orange juice.
Then step up to the hot breakfast food, crispy bacon, sausages, tomatoes, couple of fried eggs, mushrooms, beans, as long as no tomato products touch the eggs. Also buttered white toast.
Finish off with more cold toast with thick butter and Frank Cooper's original marmalade.
Washed down with copious amounts of freshly ground coffee.
Can you tell that I love a good breakfast.

PyongyangKipperbang · 10/06/2020 00:05

I should add that those of us on the OP do not think that her breakfast was a GBB, but her friend did and shamed her about it.

So we are doing this to show what a REAL GBB is!

This is going to be good!

TreacherousPissFlap · 10/06/2020 00:45

I'll be at work but we are having take out breakfast. Not quite the same in a polystyrene box but I will be with you in spirit Wink

IncyWincyGrownUp · 10/06/2020 02:16

I’m in, though mine may be not a very breakfasty breakfast. All hail the GBB.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 10/06/2020 02:19

Falls is that Irish fry coming with plain bread toast? I’m a definite fan of soda bread, plain bread, and potato farls. :o

CherryValanc · 10/06/2020 09:19

I must always have a GBB. It's always commented on how much I eat (not by my immediate family though thankfully). Mine might be acceptable on the other thread as I don't tend to have cereal (as I don't tolerate milk well) - not sure if it's a size thing or evil cereal carbs that made the OPs breakfast bad.

I love breakfast so much. Have a GBB and for the rest of the day one modest sized meal and a snack will do. After that thread I now have an overwhelming desire to go stay in a hotel and enjoy an enormous breakfast there.

Do many of you agree there's nothing more disappointing than a hotel stay where you discover the breakfast is poor. My fantasy breakfast above is happening in the west of Ireland btw.
