One of my dc wanted to bake so we made a Victoria sponge. While in the baking cupboard I sneaked some glacé cherries. I'm 39 and still munching cherries like the 5 year old me.
I can't be the only one with left over habits?

Biting my nails dreadfully.

Going up the stairs on all fours even though I’m in my late fifties.
Lying under the bed when I’m alone in the house, especially if there’s a sunbeam shining in. Love it.

tamzingrey you sound brilliant!

I walk round looking at manhole covers and street drain covers. Our family business was a foundry and our name was on many. I still do it, even on holiday.

Another witchy eggsheller!

Been going on a while... folklorethursday.com/folklife/the-witch-files-going-to-sea-in-an-eggshell/

When I was in the Brownies we had a Christmas competition, and one of the tasks was to provide a rubbing of a man-hole cover. We must have looked a bit odd, kneeling in the middle of the pavement in late December!

I'm loving all these, makes me feel not so bad :-)

I still jump over three drains Blush I must look so odd to onlookers, as I tend to walk on the first two, and then do a weird sort of
hop over the third one. My cousins told me walking on three drains was bad luck when I was about 6, and I have never managed to kick that habit!!

I twiddle my hair, especially while watching TV. Up until I met DH I used to twiddle my hair, suck the roof of my mouth and play with a label with my other hand until I fell asleep. I stopped the label and only suck the roof of my mouth if I’m overly tired but can’t stop the hair twiddling.

My youngest DD (8) still has a label when she’s tired.

Laiste used to do it with orange club biscuits, until they stopped being a sandwich and they spoiled it.

'Peeling' a poached egg. My mother and her sister used to have a competition to peel all the white off a poached egg without bursting the yolk by accident, and then mashing the yolk into the buttery toast.

Still do it now, too many years later.
