Just need an unbiased opinion.

Based on clothes only, is this baby a boy or a girl?

I agree Pandora. Those poor baby girls all done up in headbands and tiny party frocks make me feel sad.

Thewordgame · 07/06/2020 00:13

Girl

MrsTannyFickler · 07/06/2020 00:19

Girl. The frilled edging on the top isnt standard on boys clothes.
The outfits fairly neutral though.

MrsTannyFickler · 07/06/2020 00:22

I've just seen your reply.
Both my girls were called boys a few times.
I dressed them in alot of dungarees and not much pink.
As now young adults they don't seem affected in any way!Grin

I feel your pain - I have twin daughters. #1 had masses of dark hair and big eyes and we dressed her in blue. #2 had peach fuzz (now a gorgeous red-head) and big brown eyes and we dressed her in pink.

And every time we went out my wee girl was referred to as he. Drove me batsh*t. They even had bright pink pram blankets grrr.

Once #2 had grown some curls the comments petered out... mostly. 💐

If people are all saying but boys can wear girls clothes and vice Vera why are they then surprises if people comment and wrongly call them a him or her

lemontreebird · 07/06/2020 02:27

I thought girl, before I read your update. Pretty, practical clothing.

TheLittleDogLaughed · 07/06/2020 04:51

I’m more intrigued about how you got that massive yellow head through the neck of the t-shirt ..,

Barney60 · 07/06/2020 09:27

Either, Top looks like a girls top, although it could be either I dont think you would put this on a toddler boy.

icansmellburningleaves · 07/06/2020 10:11

@AFewScrewsLucy

She's a girl. Just she gets called a boy when we're out ... This is typical clothing for her. So wondering if I was just going mad. Grin it makes no difference to me, I really was just wondering how many people thought boy vs girl.
They are probably calling her a boy from her face then, which we can’t see. Cute little outfit.
Annaram1 · 07/06/2020 10:29

Girl, obvs

Lordfrontpaw · 07/06/2020 10:29

Some people just call small children he or she without thinking.

Before we had children we were in the park and a toddler kicked a ball over and we rolled it back to her. Small chit chat with parents and DS said something that mentioned ‘him’ or ‘he’.

As we walked off I asked why he thought the child - in a dress - was a boy. He said ‘Was he/she? Small children all look the same to me’.

This was over 16 years ago so who knows how this would play out today...

Pipandmum · 07/06/2020 10:31

Girl because it the ruffle edge. I dressed my son in bright colours but the stripes here are delicate and the ruffle.

Sportsnight · 07/06/2020 10:32

Is she bald? My two girls were both bald as babies, so strangers tended to say boy up til they were about 18 months and got hair, regardless of what they were wearing. I blame the blonde genes.

😂

It's a very stretchy top 😂😂

Who cares! Used to dress my son in pink babygros, he didn't know the difference. Why spend money on new items simply to comply with 'pink for girls, blue for boys'. He's grown perfectly normal and the father to 4 children. By the way, historically boys used to be dressed in pink.

Alyssum34456 · 07/06/2020 11:09

I LOVE when people think ds is a girl as shows I haven't got stuck into gender stereotyping 😂

Alyssum34456 · 07/06/2020 11:09

He's a beauty in pink

AhBallix · 07/06/2020 11:14

DS1 used to get mistaken for a girl because I often liked to put him in red, green or yellow/mustard. It never bothered me and I only corrected people I knew - random strangers wouldn't see him again so it mattered little if they thought my little potato head was a boy or girl.

Funnily enough, he was still being mistaken for a girl right through until he was about six, no matter what he was wearing, especially when he had a hat on. He's 11 now and, with his long hair, he does look very like me at that age, but he doesn't get mistaken for a girl anymore. Then again, I got mistaken for a boy all the time in my navy anorak!

DaniLaLaLand · 07/06/2020 15:39

The top is from the girl's section in Next. It has bright pink stripes, so the baby is a girl. Or it's a baby boy, in a girl's top!

amispeakingenglish · 07/06/2020 16:19

girl

amispeakingenglish · 07/06/2020 16:22

My son , who looked like a boy to me, had long hair, often mistaken for a girl. One ood man said loudly in front of all of my lot, a boy with hair like that!. One daughter told an old lady in a shop she was a boy, in response to what a lovely little girl...... btw I do all decorating, diy etc, can weld and more... dressed my first girl in blue all the time as my fav colour, as a young girl iln 60s I hated pink, was a tomboy.

amispeakingenglish · 07/06/2020 16:24

Yes Plunger you are correct about boys and pink, plus all babies, small children used to wear dresses, perhaps easier with all the potty stuff??

Quiglet · 07/06/2020 16:43

My reaction was 'boy' and reading down I see she is a girl.

It's deffo the leggings. My eyes flashed down to them and I thought they were jeans/denim and somehow my brain flicked to 'boy' despite my efforts not to be a gendered prat. The colours in the top or frills didn't even register. I made exactly the same mistake with a baby several years ago, despite the jeans in question having massive pink embroidered flowers on them Blush

Myunicornissparklyblack · 07/06/2020 20:40

Does it matter?
