Just need an unbiased opinion.

Based on clothes only, is this baby a boy or a girl?

Do we get to find out?

MsMarple · 05/06/2020 21:10

I wouldn’t worry about people: DS was a toddler, dressed in a Spider-Man costume, waving a sword, with a ‘birthday BOY’ badge on, and some nice old ladies still thought he was a girl!

@IHateCoronavirus

Do we get to find out?
OP revealed all at 5pm today Grin

I would say boy , stripes and dark bottoms look more like baby boy clothes to me! I’ve 3 boys and it’s similar to what they wore. I’ve one daughter & she always wore bright bottoms , think the dark trousers look too boyish !!!

IHateCoronavirus · 05/06/2020 21:22

ArgumentativeAardvaark Grin I was just being fashionably late.

Oi come back op, my post explains it all. It the the combination of colours looking vegetable from afar!

RumpoleoftheBaileys · 05/06/2020 21:28

Boy

LittleRen · 05/06/2020 21:32

Girl, because it looks like a frill at the bottom of the top... but that could just be the image. Obviously girls and boys can wear whatever but people will always have a bias depending on the colour.

joystir59 · 05/06/2020 21:36

Girl

Alyssum34456 · 05/06/2020 21:38

Boy? That's how I dress my ds so 🤷‍♀️

Allmyeye · 05/06/2020 21:38

Top says girl . Bottoms say boy. I’d go with girl if I had to guess. Please tell us at some point.

DappledThings · 05/06/2020 21:43

Why are people still guessing? OP said she's a girl nearly 5 hours ago.

Sunny4876 · 05/06/2020 21:45

Girl

My DD got called a boy a lot when she was a younger baby, especially when she was still bald. I think some people just make a split-second decision and go with it. She was never in anything overtly girly, though. It was mostly just bright gender-neutral stuff, but once she was in a pink outfit that someone had given us and she was still called a boy so who knows!

Once she got more hair and started facially looking more like a girl it stopped!

WoahBodyforrrm · 05/06/2020 21:59

I'd assume a girl only due to the 'ruffle' cuffs. Before I noticed those, I wouldn't have known either way!

Puds11 · 05/06/2020 22:01

@AFewScrewsLucy my eldest DD was referred to as a boy whilst wearing a dress. My youngest wears boys clothes (friend has a boy and gives me the clothes) but everyone recognises she’s a girl. It’s strange!

FairyDogMother11 · 06/06/2020 00:12

I wouldn't worry about people thinking one way or another, I took my DD put when she was a couple of weeks old wearing a pink floral dress with pink booties and a pink bow and a blanket with pink unicorns on. I had 4 separate people ask me if she was a boy or a girl. One lady eavesdropped on our conversation and came over to say, "Oh, Florence* what a lovely name, is it a boy or a girl?" Confused

I actually tend to find more people ask if she's a boy if she's wearing pink or a dress to be honest Hmm

My favourite though was when I went out with my friend for lunch and had my baby on one knee and her baby (who was 3 months older, so a fair bit bigger) on the other, and someone asked me if they were twins Grin we joked that they were "but I only feed one of them, you can guess which one is my favourite" we couldn't stop laughing!

*not real name but is definitely a name that would not ever (I think!) be used for a boy

FairyDogMother11 · 06/06/2020 00:12

Took my DD OUT*Blush

gumball37 · 06/06/2020 00:47

Girl because of the "frills"

heartyrebel · 06/06/2020 01:40

I took my DD to Thailand at 10 mths old. The ladies there always insisted she was a boy as she wasnt wearing a necklace or have her ears pierced. Wearing pink dresses made no difference.

Just laugh it off.

Hollyhobbi · 06/06/2020 02:16

My second dd literally had no hair until she was about 2 and a half. I used to put pink hats on her and people would said ah he's a lovely boy.

frenchfancy81 · 06/06/2020 02:17

Girl...

My sons ware/wore similar outfits to this, my oldest used to always get mistaken for a girl, one lady asked ‘her’ name and when told said ‘oh that’s usually a boys name’ yup cos he’s a boy, 🤷🏻‍♀️

Like you said it doesn’t matter, if I had a girl next I wouldn’t dress them massively differently, what’s important is that they are comfortable and weather appropriate.

Tumbleweed101 · 06/06/2020 09:35

Strangers always referred to my babies in a mix of genders when I was out and about even if their clothes were blatantly boy/girl!
