Has anyone been to Ikea?

What is post-lockdown ikea like? Were the queues huge, how long did you wait to get in and to pay? Was it easy to distance inside? Were you able to meander around the showroom for inspiration or was it straight in and out. Was it really upsetting to see the restaurant abandoned Grin ? Please tell me all about your visit!

Put it off for another 3 to 6 months. You'll survive.

MinteeFresh · 04/06/2020 21:09

Ooh id like to know too. Im desperate to buy a particular office chair there which i know is super comfortable

Gilead · 04/06/2020 21:09

People were waiting for hours at our nearest one!

I’m trying to convince Dh to go tomorrow. He’s not keen. At all.
I’m wondering if it’ll be better now it’s a bit rainy

middleager · 04/06/2020 21:13

My relatives have been to the Bristol one of an evening with no queue - on the 1st day in fact.

Honeydukesmum · 04/06/2020 21:38

No queue every time we’ve walked past in Reading ( it by our walk footpath)

LittlePesto · 04/06/2020 21:43

Yeah I'm not going, I'm in Scotland so not even open here yet!

We moved mid lockdown and I've got £900 worth of furniture and homeware sitting in my online shopping bag, and most of it is unavailable for delivery Sad Nothing really desperate, we're surviving without. Ds 2 has an empty bedroom no furniture at all so he's camping out in a cot with the side removed in his brother's room and ds1 is in a camp bed that it due to collapse any night now I'm sure Shock

Even when they open im not sure I'd be up for going but I'm just dreaming just now of happier times!

My partner went about 5pm today. No queue to get in.

amusedbush · 04/06/2020 22:20

@MinteeFresh

Ooh, which chair, if you don’t mind?

I’m setting up an office in our house and I need a comfy chair for working at the computer long-term Grin

Swiftsseason · 04/06/2020 22:34

Honey what times were your walks?
6am, 10pm?

Op I'm desperate to go as well.
I've promised the dc mattress toppers they have both said beds uncomfortable etc and other bits and pieces!

I'm thinking later on or mid afternoon. I'm tempted to go tomorrow infact! But it's a long drive for me if it's hideously busy to get in

maddy68 · 04/06/2020 22:38

Just order online and get it delivered? No way am I queing and putting life at risk for a desk 😂

Swiftsseason · 04/06/2020 22:39

Oh dear well as chic chi says put it off for several months, your child will survive (sleeping on the floor) Hmm

Swiftsseason · 04/06/2020 22:40

Arghhhhhhh yes Maddie! Order on line.. Oopps op does say she can't order it on line and neither can I.

But good idea which is why we already thought of it.

I also don't see myself as risking my life by going to ikea. Utterly bizarre responses op!!

icelollycraving · 05/06/2020 17:08

I convinced dh to take me today. A queue to return stuff, maybe half an hour tops. No queue to get in and fine inside 😊

MinteeFresh · 07/06/2020 16:34

just been to IKEA Croydon, arrived at 4 to get 2 items, back to car at 4.30. System working well, till being well-controlled. Only stupid thing is they are still making you walk round the whole marketplace to get to the aisles and checkout when we already knew the location of the items and could have gone straight there.

Remarkably busy and only 20-30% wearing masks. Lots of family day out idiots not observing the 2m rule.

Rummikub · 08/06/2020 19:37

Anyone tried Warrington Ikea? What was it like?
I have a list ready..

Lunar567 · 08/06/2020 21:10

My friend went to Croydon IKEA on the morning of 1 of June. There was hardly anyone there.

Swiftsseason · 08/06/2020 21:13

I went too, glorious! Straight in and they let me straight where I needed to go.

I was in and out very quickly.

Callmesausage · 08/06/2020 21:16

Went to the Croydon one Thursday about 5.30. No queue to get in, but massive queue to pay.

OhTheRoses · 08/06/2020 21:17

I went in 1989. Never. Ever. Again.

Couldn't understand the attraction.

itsgettingweird · 08/06/2020 21:27

Went to Southampton store at the weekend.

25 minute queue. Standard 2020 queuing!

Fine inside. Plenty of room and everyone really patient. Waiting and distancing.

1 bloke literally bumped into me from behind because I think he wanted the whole load of people to get a move on.

I gave him what for Grin(did point out that behaviour is unacceptable at anytime not just CV time)

1 person in front of me when paying.

And they had hotdogs, meatballs and donuts for takeaway at end. Ds (15) had 2 hotdogs as they were 50p each!

Rummikub · 09/06/2020 00:16

Adds more stuff to list!!
I might try tomorrow evening
Very excited

JingsMahBucket · 09/06/2020 01:03

@itsgettingweird interesting that they had the snack bar open. Was the usual IKEA food store next to it open too?

Spanielmadness · 09/06/2020 01:05

No queue last week but this evening was hellish. Would have gone straight home, but I had to purchase shelving units to turn into a home for my pet mouse I’ll be getting soon!!!!!

itsgettingweird · 09/06/2020 06:42

Jings no. Just the take out bit at the end.
