Has anyone been to Ikea?

What is post-lockdown ikea like? Were the queues huge, how long did you wait to get in and to pay? Was it easy to distance inside? Were you able to meander around the showroom for inspiration or was it straight in and out. Was it really upsetting to see the restaurant abandoned Grin ? Please tell me all about your visit!

I will also add they had hand santiser everywhere in the automatic dispensers. And it smelt like pure vodka Grin

Swiftsseason · 09/06/2020 07:24

Jing our snack bat was open and the shop next to it.

PeppaisaBitch · 09/06/2020 07:26

I'm desperate to go. I want some shelves that cost £50. Looked at delivery options and it's £39. No way am I paying that!!!

Awful place, I just don’t get why it’s so popular with others.

Icedlatte · 09/06/2020 07:35

I just don't get why anyone who thinks Ikea is an awful place and would never go there would come onto a thread asking about current visiting experience.

My dd went yesterday. Hardly any queue.

dizzygirl1 · 09/06/2020 10:20

I went last week and no queues when we got there, queued to pay. It was great

ShoeJunkie · 09/06/2020 10:36

Thanks for this OP - was going to start a thread asking the same thing. I have a growing list of things to get!

TabbyM · 09/06/2020 11:11

I need to go to replace a mattress currently sticking springs in my arse but it will be a while in Scotland...

TerrapinStation · 09/06/2020 11:17

I was going to say that if the news is to be believed everyone in the world has been to IKEA in the past week, I'm pleasantly surprised to hear it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

I may brave a visit

Because they are oh so desperate to impart their extremely important opinion on us plebs who actually like the place....

Meanwhile, anyone been to Warrington in the last few days? Considering a run after lunch.

MinteeFresh · 09/06/2020 12:48

@amusedbush

These are the office chairs we got - 3 in the house now:

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/millberget-swivel-chair-kimstad-white-80339417/

I have really knackered my back in the lock down sitting on a plastic chair all day. I have ordered a fancy ergonomic one but it is taking awhile to arrive so I got one of these. My kids use them as gaming chairs. they are very comfortable and padded for your back. Only negative is they do tilt but you can't lock them tilted. Still for the prices, evry good chairs. We have both White and Black ones.

amusedbush · 09/06/2020 12:50

@ MinteeFresh

Thank you, it looks nice as an added bonus too!

Mostpeculiar · 09/06/2020 13:04

I’ve been in the eve and the day, don’t go in the day!

InvisibleToEveryone · 09/06/2020 14:05

Anyone been to Wembley ikea?
We usually go after school evening time?

TerrorWig · 09/06/2020 14:41

I went to the Warrington one on Sunday. We started redecorating right before lockdown started so we have been without curtains and other stuff.

I got there at 1015, queued up (using car park spaces to space us out) and was in the store by 1040, although the message over the PA was that you couldn’t purchase before 11.

I got everything I needed. It seemed about normal to me, but in normal times I would go about 8pm.

TerrorWig · 09/06/2020 14:43

@TabbyM you can buy a mattress online with them. Would recommend this one!

WingBingo · 09/06/2020 15:23

I went to the Exeter store at 4.45 the day after it opened. No queues anywhere.

Takeaway and the food shop were both open.

AdobeWanKenobi · 09/06/2020 16:27

Can report that at 2pm Warrington was empty with no queues. Left at 4 and the queue was reasonably long to get in.
Food hall was open as was the bistro. Hot dogs all round.

CuppaZa · 09/06/2020 16:35

God I’m craving Ikea meatballs now. I have a list online, but stuff that. I want meatballs.

itsgettingweird · 09/06/2020 17:19

Yes we were savvy. We made a list before we went.

We also noted the aisle and shelf number of the flat pack stuff so we had that already.

Rummikub · 10/06/2020 01:34

I went to Warrington tonight and the queue snaked around the car park. Maybe about 20-30 mins to get in
Civilised inside. Most maintaining social distance. Some getting too close for comfort.
Massive queues to pay.

But well worth it. Need to go back for an office chair,

Rummikub · 10/06/2020 01:46

Most people were swarming over the Kallax section and in the home office section. Preparing for the long haul?

JingsMahBucket · 10/06/2020 14:26

@itsgettingweird @Swiftsseason thank you. I’ll double check the web page for my local branch then.
