Do you ever look on Rightmove...

when you're not even househunting, just to imagine how you would change properties if they were yours? I'm obsessed with it at the moment! If anyone has a spare £100k or so they're not really needing, chuck it my way and I can realise my vision! Grin

I'm constantly doing fantasy property searches on Rightmove. I've got about 10 at the moment that I want - some of them would even be in our budget too, but DH would never agree to move either into the countryside or to the coast like I want to. Sad

veryvery · 04/06/2020 15:53

All the time. And I love the 'houses sold' section and have looked up all my old houses and everyone else's new and old addresses in our address book!Grin

Thighmageddon · 04/06/2020 15:54

[quote Nancydrawn]For those of you who like a more modern aesthetic, I also highly recommend The Modern House for some seriously well-photographed real estate fantasies.

That Clayton Hill property, that was never there when I was young!

Rightmove Overseas Is my go to. I used to look at Spain, and I have a house there now. So now I look at France.

BruceAndNosh · 04/06/2020 15:57

It's my favourite occupation!
I'm always virtually knocking down walls and moving furniture in houses I don't own

Fifteen2 · 04/06/2020 16:02

Love browsing on Rightmove!
The other day I googled postcodes of houses I used to live in and they came up under houses sold in this area.
Was fascinating to see the familiar rooms/gardens now with different furnishings and decorating.

Talulahoopla · 04/06/2020 16:14

Me too except I've actually found a house that could be the forever house so DP and I have decided to sell and make the move. Sooner than planned but was always in the pipeline. Now just waiting for restrictions to be lifted and it could be all go 🤞

twinnywinny14 · 04/06/2020 16:20

All the time!! Found out yesterday that DH does this too, except he is looking at million pound houses and in looking about £100K more than ours is worth!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/06/2020 16:53

You don't get an awful lot for a million round here. Even so, the vendors of this house are fucking kidding themselves:

But I quite like this one. It has a most. Smile

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/06/2020 16:58

Ooh, I wonder who's selling this one? It looks like a famous person's house. Famous American, judging by the flag.

Where I used to live that St Albans house would be about £95k

North/South House Price divide is crazy

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/06/2020 17:08

I'm a displaced Northerner. We could have bought exactly the same sort of small terrace we live in now outright with our deposit for it.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 04/06/2020 17:08

In my birthplace, I mean

Drogonssmile · 04/06/2020 17:10

This is one of my favourite ways of wasting time! I give myself a budget and an area and try and find the nicest house for our family.

Pickles89 · 08/06/2020 01:33

The trouble with buying grotty properties, doing them up and selling them for a profit (I've been mentally doing that a lot the last few days!) is that skint people will have even less in their price range to choose from! I'm itching to renovate the 'in need of modernization' houses I've come across, but I think I'd feel guilty for the plebs.

All the time! Particularly enjoy looking at overseas houses and have recently discovered a passion for private island hunting

PhilCornwall1 · 08/06/2020 05:34

We have a look when houses around here go on the market. We are just being nosy buggers and want to see what they look like inside.

There were three around here where they were right untidy bastards (lived in?). One looked like Compo lived there. It needed to be burnt to the ground and rebuilt, it was filthy.

maddiemookins16mum · 08/06/2020 06:07

Property Porn. I give myself a budget and an area and try to find my ideal home. I even do Overseas Property Porn, yesterday I had 600K for a 3 bed house in Calgary. It kills many an hour.

BruceAndNosh · 08/06/2020 08:28

I'm currently deciding on the new kitchen layout and flooring for a flat I have no intention of buying. I'm also mulling over turning their loo into a laundry room.

GoldenKelpie · 08/06/2020 08:41

Oh God, Pickles, all the time! Well, not all the time Grin. At the moment my obsession is youtube walk-arounds of mobile homes for sale in USA (single, double or triple-wide apparently). For example...

And catios...

Pickles89 · 08/06/2020 19:50

@GoldenKelpie

Have you discovered 'Tiny houses' yet? They are HUGE in the states (yep, I see the pun there!) Honesty, once you see a couple of youtube tours you become officially addicted.

I'd love one, and it's the only way I'd ever be able to afford my own home, but you also need land to park it on...

OP posts:
CormoranStrike · 08/06/2020 20:52

Yep, I have it narrowed down to two houses should I wine the lottery!

frumpety · 08/06/2020 22:09

Does anyone ever wonder why a house hasn't sold ? there is one in a cornish village that should have sold ages ago as quite cheap for that area but has been on over a year, I am wondering if it is built from mundic but thought that the EA's usually mention that ?

frumpety · 08/06/2020 22:12

It's this one
