when you're not even househunting, just to imagine how you would change properties if they were yours? I'm obsessed with it at the moment! If anyone has a spare £100k or so they're not really needing, chuck it my way and I can realise my vision! Grin

Jacob or it could be people like me wondering if house prices have fallen much yet.

Definitely not buying at current prices, sorry estate agents!

Barkingfuckingdogs · 04/06/2020 15:09

God yes. Its in my list of 'Hobbies'. 😁

KenDodd · 04/06/2020 15:09

Not only that, I find my dream house then go over to John Lewis to furnish it. Grin

One of my favorite things to look at are the appalling but very expensive houses. There are some truly gruesome newbuilds in the Home Counties with 20k+ square feet that look like Las Vegas casinos slightly shrunken. Very shiny, very new, tons of marble and glass, extraordinarily vulgar.

BigusBumus · 04/06/2020 15:12

I once sold something on eBay and when it was time to post it, I recognised the name of the person immediately. It was the famous female singer of an Indie band from my teenage years that I went to see many times, idolised and had all of the singles 7", 12" Picture Discs etc. I emailed and asked if it was her (not in a stalkerish way) and we had a chat about things. She seemed delighted to have been recognised after all this time.

Anyway, as soon as id' done that I googled her address, it came up on Rightmove as she'd only just bought it. I was SOOOOOOOOO disappointed! I'm not sure what i imagined but a top floor 2 bed flat in an unremarkable street in North London wasn't it. I looked all up and down the road on Streetview, saw other grotty houses, how far it was from the tube etc. I wanted so bad for it to be fabulous, to fit in with my teenage feelings about her. But it wasn't and i was really crushed!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 04/06/2020 15:14

I would class it as my hobby!, I reckon I could go on Mastermind with houses for sale in my county as my specialist subject!

SheDidNot · 04/06/2020 15:15

I normally look at the million pound+ properties in desirable locations!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 04/06/2020 15:17

My favourite area to look is the Cotswolds, fantastic housing stock coupled with affluence makes for some serious property porn.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 04/06/2020 15:19

Nancy you can’t tease us, we need links!

Nancydrawn · 04/06/2020 15:22

Oooh, just nose around the most expensive houses in Surrey, for a start.

RonMexico · 04/06/2020 15:24

I do this too! Although I have recently moved on to googling 3D virtual tours. Had a good old nosey around many a beautiful Canadian cabin recently!

Dramalady52 · 04/06/2020 15:24

Love rightmove, I look locally for my downsided retirement home; at my old town to see if I could ever move back; and South Kensington for my perfect London pied-a-terre when I win the Lottery. If only I could remember to buy that winning ticket ....

BlueJava · 04/06/2020 15:26

Yes definitely! Love the site. Sometimes I dream of where we could retire to.

Blobby10 · 04/06/2020 15:26

I check Rightmove while watching Locaton Location and/or Escape to the Country, just to see if I can find those houses Grin. Haven't managed yet!!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 04/06/2020 15:29

@JacobReesMogadishu drop your budget a bit. The Lakes can get pricey but it's still not South money. You can get something epic for £750k!
I go on RM all the time. I look at posh ones, ones in my price bracket to look at the decor and then cheaper properties which would make an nice escape Grin

Nancydrawn · 04/06/2020 15:30

PS: 100% yes for gorgeous Cotswolds houses. I have long adored Nonsuch House, near Chippenham, and now it's on the market!

Bluesheep8 · 04/06/2020 15:30

All the time! No plans to move but I look at the area I live in and the town where I'm from regularly. Also use it for decorating ideas

BissueTox · 04/06/2020 15:31

Me too! We will pick an area at random and look to see what we could get for our money in different areas.

Our money being at least 2.5 million, of course. Wink

Margotshypotheticaldog · 04/06/2020 15:33

Finally a link!!! Sooo beautiful 🤤

WitsEnding · 04/06/2020 15:33

I look at the (many) little houses just like mine to see what other people have done with the decor.

I paint walls & paintwork white when they need doing and buy furniture that meets functional requirements without being flimsy, so interior design is a strange world to me.

Cherrytangfastic · 04/06/2020 15:37

Yep, do this most days Grin

Deathraystare · 04/06/2020 15:40

My big problem is I am so London centric. I know I would stand more chance getting a reasonable sized garden moving out of 'London Land'. This is all fantasy. I couldn't afford a matchbox!

frumpety · 04/06/2020 15:48

Love looking on right move , you want eye watering prices , check out the South of France on there Smile

For those of you who like a more modern aesthetic, I also highly recommend The Modern House for some seriously well-photographed real estate fantasies.
