Where do you keep your bread/crumpets/muffins etc?

I had a bread bin and it took up too much space so I got a cylindrical one that wasn't any good for anything more than a loafso I got rid of that too. I now use my slim not much good for anything except bread and cereal cupboard but things get pushed to the back, forgotten about, and go mouldy. What's your perfect bread storage solution?

We store sliced bread in the freezer and take out slices as we need it. Same for crumpets and muffins.

mintchick · 02/06/2020 21:00

Just as PP says. Store in freezer and take out as and when needed. Doesn't take long to thaw at room temperature or even a few seconds on defrost in microwave.

A rectangular bread bin that sits in the cupboard because it's ugly as fuck

Same as others.....in the freezer.

It won’t last long in this heat.

AlCalavicci · 02/06/2020 21:27

Mine lives in the fridge unless i have just done a big shop then it just lurks on the work top till it is eaten or there is space in the fridge.
If I have a lot it goes in the freeze though

Bluntness100 · 02/06/2020 21:28

Mines in the bread bin,,,

rottiemum88 · 02/06/2020 21:29

Freezer here too

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 02/06/2020 21:37

mine mostly lives in the microwave...most talented bread bin EVER!

dudsville · 02/06/2020 21:37

We also use the freezer, but if it's nice bread then I pop it into a large (cake size) clear plastic tub on the counter top until its used up.

LunaDeet · 02/06/2020 21:40

Microwave here too!

FlamingoAndJohn · 02/06/2020 21:44

Bread on top of the toaster or in the freezer.

Wagamamas · 02/06/2020 21:47

Freezer

mermaidbutmytailfelloff · 02/06/2020 21:47

In my tummy. We rarely have bread or muffins or crumpets but when we do we eat them. If we HAVE to keep them then in the freezer.

wheresmolly · 02/06/2020 21:52

Freezer also! I'm on my own so don't get through a loaf before it's past its best. It's easy enough to take out a couple of slices as I need them.

Bread goes stale more quickly in the fridge!
Giggorata · 02/06/2020 22:06

A 1930s enamel bread in. Pale green. Not too bashed up.

cherrypiepie · 02/06/2020 22:10

On top of the microwave or in it if I am being tidy. My diet bread lives in the freezer.

When I lived alone tho I just put in a cupboard as bread bins irrationally annoy me.

shushymcshush · 02/06/2020 22:13

In my belly Grin

The "Carb cupboard" if its well in date. Freezer if on last legs.

RingaRosie · 02/06/2020 22:17

Freezer. Then it goes into the ugly bread bin, which is in the cupboard.

AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie · 02/06/2020 22:25

Bread/bagels/pittas in the bread cupboard with the crackers and breadsticks and the butter dish. It's eye level so can see everything to avoid back of the cupboard mouldiness shenanigans. Crumpets - fridge. Last for ages there. I've never understood bread bins as they take up so much bench w

AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie · 02/06/2020 22:27

As I was saying... bench space and always full of crumbs. Wasn't there a thread about an artisan bread bin that wasn't what the OP ordered? Wonder what happened to that one

Notso · 02/06/2020 22:47

The drawer directly under the cutlery drawer it also contains the bread board and is next to the toaster drawer.

SistemaAddict · 02/06/2020 23:47

@AlovelybitofsquirrelJackie of god yes, I remember that thread!

I'm now eyeing the microwave with interest. It doesn't get used much.
