Shit! Is there anything I can do? Screwed up Tesco delivery.

My fault...I accidentally sent my (£200) Tesco delivery to our old address.

It’s registering as “delivered”. My son has run around there to see if they’ve taken it all in.

If they have and choose to keep it, what if anything can I do? Tesco customer service is closed at this time of night.

Can’t believe this has happened. We have very little money for more food 😥 I am such a fucking idiot.

I did the same thing with tesco. Phoned them and they redelivered later that evening.

Tyroselemty · 02/06/2020 09:38

@PinkMeringue did you go round this morning? Hope you got your groceries. I have accidentally mistyped my address (missed a digit from a 3 digit house number) and the people who live at the other address have gone to great lengths to reunite me with my stuff (even a random freebie I wasn’t even expecting during this lockdown

There are good people in this world. Fingers crossed 🤞 for you

DonutCone · 02/06/2020 09:39

Yep, well he’s been allowed to take in my delivery 10 days ago when I was picking DD back up from school.

Hoppyhops · 02/06/2020 09:42

The ex owner of my house still hasn’t changed any addresses with banks, businesses, HMRC etc. He just has his family’s mail redirected to his new address. This doesn’t impact us until, inevitably, every 6 months the redirect runs out as he forgets to renew it and we get all his post for a week. Obviously we don’t open it, just save it up and send him a text for when he’s ready to pick it up. It’s been going on for two years now and we always ask him to change his address but he never does. I always say I’m going to bin the next lot of letters until he changes his address but DH says IABU.
His daughter also has the odd parcel delivered here too. We always sign for it, or sometimes it’s just left in our porch, and then we realise and let them know. It is really annoying though.

What's the snappy MN nickname going to be for the potential shopping thieves?

Megatron · 02/06/2020 09:46

For the love of god, the hysteria. Name and shame/call the police/go round at 8am?

They may have refused the delivery. They may not have answered the door to Tesco (it will still show as delivered when the time slot has passed). They may have taken it in and be utter bastards. But surely, any right-minded person would find out exactly what's happened before 'naming and shaming' or calling the bloody police? I can't believe some of the responses on here. Grin

Katinski · 02/06/2020 09:50

My delivery address, according to SatNav is a fieldGrin
This little estate was built on a greenfield site and the field was the drop point for all the bricks, timber etc. It's still a field and, although it's surrounded by our properties, clearly marked, it's amazing how many drivers don't errrr use their eyes? The field shares our postcode, btw.

You need to start sending those letters back as 'Not known at this address'. He could be using your address for all sorts, that's why most official things needs the letters to be dated within the last three months. Ask yourself why he keeps paying to renew the mail redirect instead of just changing the address.

Hmm... if I were the people at the old address I would be very skeptical that this could be an attempt to mark my house and burgle me, after someone hammering on the door so late.

Don't be so bloody hysterical. Burglars don't knock on the door to mark your house Hmm

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 02/06/2020 10:00

So what happened, OP? Did you go back this morning?

AMemeByAnyOtherName · 02/06/2020 10:03

@curtainsforme ah, I wouldn't know 😅

I've never been burgled before

Erictheavocado · 02/06/2020 10:03

I am very confused by this. I use the app and just don't see how you could accidentally order something to be delivered to your old address? The only way I can see this happening is if you failed to update your address details in the first place? If you want it delivered to a different address than the one they have on record, you have to do this before you checkout when you book the slot - I wanted to order a delivery to my dsis a few weeks ago and discovered that once you have confirmed the slot, you cannot change the delivery address.
I hope you've received your shopping OP, and would suggest you make sure you've altered the address details for the future.

StampMc · 02/06/2020 10:04

It's a good job 12 year olds can't accept supermarket deliveries then!

My under 16s do all the time, including my 11yo who could pass for 8. When I used to use Ocado they would happily dump it in the garden or with my (admittedly adult) neighbour.

@AMemeByAnyOtherName

Very generous offer, what a kind person you are.

Flyinggeese · 02/06/2020 10:06

Curtains

This meant the opposite of what you're suggesting - the poster said they were skeptical that it could be 'an attempt to mark my house and burgle me' - so they think it doesn't mean that. Unless I've misread!

Jeremyironsnothing · 02/06/2020 10:07

Oops

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 02/06/2020 10:07

So long as there aren’t any age restricted items they certainly can accept the delivery. Or in my case Ocado have never had a problem with my DCs accepting deliveries (back when they WERE children).....

I want an update. 😅

fluffiphlox · 02/06/2020 10:09

Personally I wouldn’t ‘shame’ anyone who had access to the food that I wanted to be returned to me.

AMemeByAnyOtherName · 02/06/2020 10:09

@ArriettyJones what's a begging thread? Confused

StatementKnickers · 02/06/2020 10:11

@AMemeByAnyOtherName a hard-luck story calculated to encourage offers of financial assistance from other posters.

A thread posted to elicit financial donations. You seemed to think OP might appreciate a contribution, which was kind of you, but not encouraged by @MNHQ Smile
