Opinions on the name Rex?

Rex has always been a main contender for our baby boys name, however whenever we have let some friends and family know of our potential name choice we get MANY mixed reactions. What are your thoughts on the name?

I like Rex.

@Sparklingbrook You just reminded me, there was a Big Bother contestant called Rex.

I LOVE it! I know a very cool Rex. Really suits his name.

I used to work with a Rex. He was always known as Sexy Rex.

My FIL was all "It's a dog's name " when we name our DS . (Not Rex but a popular dog's name)

I ignored him .

There's an NSPCC advert where a little boy is rifling through a binbag and the voice over is Rex will have to find his own dinner

Dogs name mainly but I now also think of Stacey Solomon.

My DH wanted Rex desperately but we had DD1 and DD2. We then had DS1 and I would have gone for it but I did feel it was a dog’s name and honestly would have felt like justifying his name every time I was asked (“my husband chose it!). So we went for Max instead and love it.

I really like it.

He's a golden retriever. One that's beautiful but not all that bright.

Reminds me of T-Rex / Dinosaur / Toy Story

BIL has a son called Rex. He's a lovely boy. We also know a boy called Felix. Also lovely.

Still makes me think of dogs, cats and dinosaurs though.

I agree with a pp that I just can’t imagine an adult called Rex. It’s (sort of) cute on a toddler but I can’t picture a man in his 40s at work introducing himself as Rex.

My husband is a man in his 40s at work who introduces himself as Rex!
I absolutely adore the name, classic and strong but also quite cool.

It means king, which might seem a bit odd to people.

Sorry but to me it’s a dogs name.

Whilst Felix is a cats name.
