I mean since we have been allowed to.

Did you enjoy it? Would you go again?

'Not telling you where' Pathetic

Earthgirlsareeasy · 29/05/2020 20:39

Yes. It’s at the end of my road (less than a minute’s walk). DS has overcome his fear of waves having been there everyday since school stopped which has been lovely to see.

LockdownLoppy · 29/05/2020 20:51

I live a short drive away from the beach (under 15 mins) but as I'm in Wales I can't go there yet as it's more than 5 miles.

Emmapeeler1 · 29/05/2020 20:55

We have been to one 40 minutes away which has loos. We got there around 4pm and it wasn't busy. I can't be bothered to drive a long way for a day trip without the guarantee of a loo/not too many people and the faff of making a picnic when I can't easily pop to a shop for bits.

UnderTheBus · 29/05/2020 20:55

Yes we are about 30 minutes from a beach, but it's not a sandy tourist trap beach - it's a stony one mostly used for watersports etc.

We got there at 10. Looked in the tide pools, flew a kite, went crabbing, the stones in the sea, had an ice cream. It was great.
Lots of people were out on inflatable kayaks, paddle boards, boats etc.

Plenty of room to socially distance. Only once did someone get too close - a little boy wanted to see our crab bucket so I put it down and stepped back so he could have a look.

I would probably avoid popular beaches like Brighton or Weymouth, though.

UnderTheBus · 29/05/2020 20:56

Oh and the loos were open but a long walk from the car park so DD went in a Bush and we'd onto one of her baby sister's nappies so we could take it home with us.

Walnutwhipster · 29/05/2020 20:58

No and I live a five minute drive from one. This weather has brought out every Tom, Dick and Harry.

KenDodd · 29/05/2020 20:59

Yes, I live close by. I've been a few times, it was lovely, not crowded at all.

tinytemper66 · 29/05/2020 20:59

I can see the beach from my house but techincally because I have to drive...on the mountain looking down I couldn't. I did nip down at 8am one day and there was hardly a soul. From Monday I can go when I like...Live in Wales. 😀

Peanutbutteryogurt · 29/05/2020 21:01

Nearly every day but we're in walking distance

Hibbetyhob · 29/05/2020 21:06

Yes we went this evening. About 45 mins drive for a sandy one rather than pebbly. It was wonderful. Not busy at all - plenty of people around but easy to get parking, everyone very spread out on the actual beach. No rubbish around at all. We all had a wonderful few hours.

Roselilly36 · 29/05/2020 21:08

I agree with pp, avoid Brighton, the R rate has risen to over 1 in the city, talking of a second peak. Council have advised schools not to return. According to local press.

Chiyo666 · 29/05/2020 21:09

We’ve been there everyday this week.

TheGreatWave · 29/05/2020 21:10

Once. The lack of toilets puts me off going for more than just a quick stroll.

NuttyBetty · 29/05/2020 21:11

No, it's too far from us, closest one being about two hour drive away. I do love beach but feel really sad for my two year old who has never been to beach. We sometimes go for a walk in a nearby park which has several ponds and lakes (not swimmable) and she tries to go into them saying it's beach Confused

OntheWaves40 · 29/05/2020 21:11

Yes went for a couple of hours at 9am, burnt to a crisp now Sad didn’t think I’d burn so early.
The queue to go that we saw on way back went on for miles and miles.

Millie2013 · 29/05/2020 21:19

@Figgygal

Nope most closest is Weston super mare and with the increase in cases there it’s jut fair to locals to traipse in for the day
This!
MerryDeath · 29/05/2020 21:38

yes. only once mid-week. we sort of consider ourselves local/entitled as DH is from the beach and the rest of family still live there. i don't care for the so called beach personally, i particularly loathe sand which seems to proliferate at the beach, which should really be called Sand Land as a warning, BUT it was quite a nice outing as it goes. my DS had a fantastic time being entertained not by me and my baby was asleep -perfect. it wasn't busy, it never is where we go, but there were others about. normal for half term
i'd say.

PinkBuffalo · 29/05/2020 21:50

I am very lucky That i live a mile walk from the seafront. I go to the seaside at least once a day I am so lucky it is right on my doorstep so even in deepest lockdown I could still just walk there

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/05/2020 21:58

Nah, I live in the Midlands about as far away from the coast as you can get. I don't drive and there's no way I could justify taking a 3 hour train journey to go to the beach.

vanillandhoney · 29/05/2020 22:00

Yep, I live five minutes walk from the beach and went throughout lockdown to walk the dog.

IggyAce · 29/05/2020 22:06

Yes we went today, we respected the wishes of Whitby, Saltburn and other beaches we would normally visit and discovered a new one, it was busy but everyone was spaced out. Tbh we will definitely return as we didn’t fully explore, and enjoyed it more than the other beaches we previously visited.

Gwenhwyfar · 29/05/2020 23:23

I am still not allowed to (Wales).

Dowser · 29/05/2020 23:30

Been tonight, 5 min drive
Been right through lock down
Would drive to supermarket, then take the longer drive home last the beach
I’ve never in all my years been so grateful to live near a beach
It’s been a lifesaver

Dowser · 29/05/2020 23:32

In the thick of lockdown, I set off for saltburn, couldn’t find anywhere to park, so drove down into staithes and was just beautiful
Then carried on to whitby..didn’t stay long as again nowhere to park
But enjoyed the drive
