I mean since we have been allowed to.

Did you enjoy it? Would you go again?

Yes, but we’re close. It was quiet and we had a lovely walk and paddle for about an hour, then went home. Not telling you where!

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 29/05/2020 18:34

it is not somewhere i would go on a bank holiday weekend normally let alone during this lockdown, but plenty of people do this as a matter of course.

ShoeJunkie · 29/05/2020 18:35

Yep, twice. Got there early (took breakfast with us). Did wonders for my mood!
We’re about 30 minutes away from our nearest beach.

LordGarmadon · 29/05/2020 18:52

We're a 30 minute walk to some beautiful coastline so have been down to the seaside lots throughout lockdown. We've taken the windbreaks and uv tent the last 2 weekends. It hasn't been crowded at all and people have been sensible.

Chickoletta · 29/05/2020 18:53

Live in Cornwall - we’ve been to 5 different beaches this week! Realise how lucky we are. Today was particularly blissful as we went to a little known beach where the sea is particularly calm and shelves off very gently and there are also lots of lovely deep rock pools - we ate our pasties and then I read my book in peace for nearly 4 hrs while the DCs played.

Kenworthington · 29/05/2020 18:54

Yes went today with my eldest Ds. It’s about 10 miles from us. Massive sandy beach. Everyone spread out. It was lush. I took my van rather than my car so I could have a bucket wee in the van 😬😩

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 29/05/2020 18:57

No. Our nearest seaside town is an hour away and it'd be selfish and irresponsible to travel that distance.

Figgygal · 29/05/2020 19:01

Nope most closest is Weston super mare and with the increase in cases there it’s jut fair to locals to traipse in for the day

Paranoidmarvin · 29/05/2020 19:01

No. I live near two different beaches in different towns. Both about half an hour away. I have decided not to go. One is a massive well known second home place And didn’t think the locals needed us there. And the other one is more for tourist place so didn’t want to go as I knew it would be busy.

1066vegan · 29/05/2020 19:03

I live on the coast so have been along the seafront on some of my walks and runs.

If I still lived in Swansea like I did many years ago, then I'd have been to some of the lovely Gower beaches. Our beach is stony and far from picturesque so not worth sitting and relaxing on.

Jellykat · 29/05/2020 19:05

No, im in Wales so my local beaches car park and coastal path are still closed off..
Such a shame, as walking along the beach always helps my mental health Sad

Freetodowhatiwant · 29/05/2020 19:07

Yes today for the first time! An hour drive from London to the kent coast, it felt lovely. There were plenty of people around but very easily socially distanced. Stalls with fish and chips and drinks open and public loos too. Feels so good to have seen the sea again. Kids loved it too despite not being the most happy people when faced with a long drive.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 29/05/2020 19:09

Yesterday to the 10 minute drive one with the dune scramble. I've seen it busier, but not much. Lovely afternoon, everyone behaving, charming children and dogs. A fair number of faraway accents though.

SureTry · 29/05/2020 19:13

We're 20 mins walking distance from the beach. At the beginning of lockdown we walked there daily with DS 2 for our daily exercise. Now it's getting busier we drive to find a quieter spot.

DominaShantotto · 29/05/2020 19:14

Nope but I’m not a beach person anyway and we live about as land locked as you can get in the uk!

hfrdgftcsdg · 29/05/2020 19:17

We go every day! It’s fabulous and healthy

Illbedownatthegardenwithmum · 29/05/2020 19:20

I went at 7am the other day, and had breakfast with my Dad. We left at 9 and only saw two dog walkers in that time.

Redbrook · 29/05/2020 19:22

Yes we went today - 50 mins drive and we were there by 8:00 and after a really lovely walk and a breakfast picnic we were away by 10:30 just as the beach was starting to get some visitors. The beach is massive and the sea is about a mile out from the prom so no problem with social distancing. It was bliss and we will do it again next week.

Kittykatmacbill · 29/05/2020 19:23

Yes. Less than 20 mins / 3 km on off road paths ride for the children on their bikes, we have been most days of lock down as it’s quieter than our local park and other open spaces.

Bienentrinkwasser · 29/05/2020 19:25

Twice this week! Toddler loves playing in the sand and with pebbles, husband gets a good swim, I’m happy to watch the world go by as my wetsuit doesn’t fit over my bump and I’m a wuss 😂

Today’s beach was a bit busier but still perfectly workable.

FlyingFlamingo · 29/05/2020 19:25

1066 don’t feel too bad - unless you lived within walking distance of a Gower beach you couldn’t visit anyway, all of the car parks are still closed.

Nonagoninfinity · 29/05/2020 19:27

Yes, we live in a coastal town and go regularly. I've been avoiding weekends. Today was definitely busier than normal but it was very easy to social distance and we had a beautiful swim in the sea (no one else was swimming).

I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable driving a long way to a beach. I know it's allowed but it doesn't feel 'right' somehow - but that's easy for me to say living near the sea!

1066vegan · 29/05/2020 19:40

@FlyingFlamingo That does make me feel better. I keep forgetting that the rest of the UK is being a lot more sensible and cautious than England.

Walking along a pretty boring seafront is much better than not seeing the sea at all.

edgeware · 29/05/2020 19:47

Yes. I went at about 9 and left at 12:30. It was getting busy when we left but it’s a huuuge beach.

SomewhereEast · 29/05/2020 19:55

Yes, definitely! We live within easy driving distance of a long stretch of lightly populated coastline, so we just head for an out-of-town beach, avoid weekends & go early. Its been a life-saver to be honest. The beaches are getting busier but its still absolutely possible to do the 2m thing. It frustrates me how much the media angst around beaches has focused on south-east England or big name seaside towns. Tne UK has thousands of miles of coastline and many areas where its perfectly possible to enjoy the coast without it looking like the Costas in July.
