Shiny new thread for anyone shielding.

You can vent/moan/cry/chat/lurk whatever you need.

@Egghead that's exactly what I meant.

@UnholyStramash I take tacrolimus (Prograf). I was also on Cellcept until last year when it was stopped.

@OrganTransplant123 is it fairly new that you have changed anti-rejection drugs?

Oaksideboard · 19/06/2020 16:26

I've been told my DC is to remain shielded. I wish we had an announcement of what's going to happen next.

OrganTransplant123 · 19/06/2020 17:04

Yes, @finished31 my consultant changed them a couple of weeks ago because my kidneys were struggling. I was on azathioprine until a few months ago too.

rugbymummy · 19/06/2020 17:13

Is anyone else watching the briefing? That sounded like they’re letting some of us out and keeping others in

rugbymummy · 19/06/2020 17:15

Or has my addled brain read too much into that?

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 17:16

Just said on the daily lies in response to a question about shielding that they will let us know in the coming weeks why we should feel confident going out again and who has to “continue taking those special measures”. I’ll try to post the full quotation if I can.

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 17:16

Crossposted @rugbymummy.

rugbymummy · 19/06/2020 17:19

In the coming weeks. FFS.

Splitsunrise · 19/06/2020 17:21

Arghhh! To be honest he probably didn’t explicitly mean in a couple of weeks, he stumbled over it a bit. But it’s so frustrating they won’t even say WHEN they will announce the change since the review was meant to be this week.

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 17:22

The question from a member of the public was about when the updated shielding guidance will be available. The education secretary said “in the coming weeks very shortly we’ll be getting that advice out to them, giving the advice that they need to make sure that they know that they can go out safely and who is needing to continue to take those special protective measures”

Cloudburstagain · 19/06/2020 17:23

Slightly concerning that the Ed Sec says in the coming weeks. There are less than 2 weeks, 11 days in fact, until the 30th June!!

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 17:26

Plus concerning he is talking about some in some out

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 17:28

I hope those decisions are going to be made in an evidence-based way, not like the random way the criteria seem to have been changing on the Asthma UK website.

Cloudburstagain · 19/06/2020 17:34

There is still an awfully sad and high 140 deaths a day on a rolling 7 day record.

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 17:39

Yes

AuntieSocia1 · 19/06/2020 17:41

I've stuck a new thread in chat for us, one of these days I'll figure out how to attach a link Blush

It's called thread 3 shielding chat.

And the number of cases every day seems to have plateaued.

AuntieSocia1 · 19/06/2020 17:44

Thank you @Egghead68 Halo

Annoying that they seem so adamant that all DC will be in school in September.

Because I’m ready to bet that they don’t mean they are already confidently predicting the country will be at level 1 by Aug/Sept

So are shielded DC going to have to go to school?

When right now it’s too risky for them even to meet their friends even with social distancing

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 19/06/2020 18:24

@rugbymummy I said the exact same thing today!
It seems to have stopped going down. I believe it will plateau for another week then rise slightly. I hope not though

BeyondDreamsOfBeyondFourWalls · 19/06/2020 21:24

I've said October at the earliest for my DCs - I want to see that the September return doesn't lead to a spike in cases again
