It's murder surely? (**Trigger upsetting content**)

The video of the man who was killed in America by the police officer's has just come up on my Facebook news feed. I couldn't watch all of it and had to hide it as it was just so upsetting to watch. Fucking disturbing actually. You can see the officer putting pressure on his neck while looking right down at him as he is literally suffocating to death. It's murder surely?! It was almost as if he was enjoying it. Sad Please tell me charges are going to be pressed against these police officer's. I keep thinking about it getting upset that these men are going to get away with it.

This doesn't just happen in America.

UK deaths in custody or detention makes pretty sobering reading. Look up the case of Gareth Myatt, who was just 14 and under 5ft tall when he was suffocated by G4S guards :(

Experimenopause · 27/05/2020 15:22

That is definitely murder! Sad

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/05/2020 15:30

Yes it was murder. I'm pleased that the FBI is investigating and I hope the ex-officers will soon be charged.

I hope the paramedics will also be sacked and charged. One checked his neck for a pulse, they did not tell the policeman to remove his knee from the victim's neck, did not position the unconscious victim, did not attempt to protect his airway, did not commence CPR, wandered off and returned in an unhurried manner with the gurney, allowed him to be roughly moved without attempting to protect his head or neck, did not check him, safely position him or attempt any resuscitation before trundling him off.

I am beyond disgusted.

Budapestpest · 27/05/2020 16:36

Horrific. Absolutely murder. Being black in America is a very dangerous thing

Walkerbean16 · 27/05/2020 17:13

absolutely murder. it popped up on my facebook, truly horrific to watch.

Anon0998 · 27/05/2020 17:28

I agree bottom line the poor man has been unlawfully killed however I think manslaughter will end up being the charge if the family are successful in bringing it to court. Also accompanied by something like abuse of power in an authorities figure. He won't get much in prison if any either sadly, maybe 6 m - 2y and 2 y suspended. His partner also won't be prosecuted most likely, he will probably just get "retrained" and investigated. Sad world we live in for justice for a victim.

C130 · 27/05/2020 18:14

I will not watch the video myself. I have seen enough before this, and have got the message loud and clear, Black lives do not matter in America. They never have.

SarahTancredi · 27/05/2020 18:23

It is absolutely murder.

Up until today I had only seen pictures.

The footage was even more shocking than I could have imagined

The filming and the cries of the civilians desperately telling him to get off him just seemed to make him push the limits of what that poor man could take even more.

They really did seem desperate to prove they could do what they liked and they didnt give a shit what anyone thought. And as for threatening innocent unarmed civilians who wanted to help wtf.

And the paramedics handled him terribly. Not one person involved in either his arrest or medical treatment treated him like he was a human being.

I sincerely hope all the officers involved are charged and imprisoned with murder. They had him. It didn't need to go any further. It was all for fucking show and a power play Why were they yelling at him to get in the car when they had him pinned down by his neck.? Disgusting people.

DrDavidBanner · 27/05/2020 18:36

How did I not know about Gareth Myatt? That's appalling, not one office charged with his murder.

Perfectstorm12 · 27/05/2020 18:39

George Floyd. It was murder. He was gasping for breath while that police officer casually told everyone not to do drugs. We need to address racism globally now. Right now.

MyFuckingFairyGarden · 27/05/2020 18:50

Murder. That's murder. I watched the whole thing. I feel sick. Always wanted to visit the states but I would never live there, and I'm white so this would be very unlikely to happen to me. Says it all. Sick Bastards. Sick fucks. That's murder. George Floyd was murdered. Sickening to watch and that video is out there for his friends and family to watch. But it means everyone has seen what they did to him at least. You can't deny it when we can all see the evidence. This is the saddest thing.

UncleFoster · 27/05/2020 19:12

Of course its murder.

They killed George Floyd and they knew they were killing him.

The paramedics came, casually checked his pulse and made no attempt to remove the policemans knee from the neck of a clearly unconcious man. They then dragged his limp body onto the stretcher. No dignity at all.

KindlyFOD · 27/05/2020 19:28

Oh God. That's awful 😢

Annamaria14 · 27/05/2020 19:32

It is so disgusting. The white man knew that the black man was dying, and you could see that he was enjoying killing him.

You could see from his body posture as he was kneeling on his neck, that he felt power. And that he was really enjoying killing him.

One of the most disgusting things I have ever seen, is that man smirking, enjoying killing him, while he couldn't breathe, and his nose was bleeding.

I was wondering why the bystanders didn't intervene. But I suppose they were afraid they would be shot.

I hope he gets charged for murder

mbosnz · 27/05/2020 19:47

And that is why the slogan 'black lives matter' matters. Because there are far too many of these bigoted murdering bastards who think they don't. Who think they can take black lives on the slimmest of pretexts, with impunity. And far too often, they're shown to be right.

User8008135 · 27/05/2020 19:51

Murder definitely. I hope they are arrested and the EMTS would stood by and did nothing to help.

All police should have to wear body cams to highlight these abuses. The video is horrible but thankfully the public captured his horrific murder or they'd deny deny deny .

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 27/05/2020 19:54

Yes it is straight up murder and I am shocked (although I shouldn't be) that no one has been charged with anything. Sacking? That's what you get when you take sick at work on a regular!

And we are breezily trying to secure a trade deal with these people.

Annamaria14 · 27/05/2020 19:56

Sick fuck. Why did he have to kill him

user1494055864 · 27/05/2020 20:15

He's probably killed before. Bless those bystanders trying to help though.

MaureenSowerbutts · 27/05/2020 20:18

Yep it's murder of another black man by racist police. DH is black and said to me today that he would be too scared to go to America again. That broke my heart, scared because the colour of his skin could get him killed.

Opoly54 · 27/05/2020 20:18

It was awful hearing the desperation of those bystanders as they tried to reason with the officers. This will affect them hugely. They obviously knew that they couldn’t physically intervene, one stepped forward at one point and nearly got maced. Horrific.

WhatASadLittleLifeJane · 27/05/2020 20:21

His name is George Flyod and he was murdered. The cop kneeled on his neck with his fucking hands in his pockets whilst bystanders pleaded with him to check George's pulse.

Makes me sick. Being black shouldn't be a death sentence.

Experimenopause · 27/05/2020 20:27

I cannot bear to watch the video in full. And I do not understand how these police officers can sleep or be around their own families? There is no way their children won’t recognise this as a crime unless they have been brainwashed already. Is that how this cycle continues?

Perfectstorm12 · 27/05/2020 20:37

Yes,the cycle continues unless it is looked at soberly and squarely for the distortion, hatred and bigotry that it is. Horrific. Our children are growing up in this world.
