Would getting a nose piercing be an odd choice?

Not necessarily 'am I too old' for one but more Would you find it odd if you knew me and I got one?

Im 24, married and mother of one (hopefully another soon).
I've always wanted a nose piercing but never got one. I know it would look nice as there is a picture of me where my sunglasses reflected on my nose and looked like a hoop and everyone said how nice it looked (before I corrected them that it was a shadow!)
My question is, would it be weird to get one? Would you think 'she's struggling with life' if you knew me and I got one? I really want one (obviously post lockdown). I feel like I'll regret it when I'm even older and don't ever do it... Which is silly,, it's just a nose ring!

You're 24, do it! I wouldn't find it odd at all. I certainly wouldn't think you were 'struggling with life', I'd think you liked the look of a nose piercing and got one.

HilaryBriss · 25/05/2020 13:47

There are lots of fake nose rings available very cheaply i was looking at them yesterday maybe get one of those to see what it looks like before committing to a real piercing.

KellyHall · 25/05/2020 13:47

Do it. Definitely don't wait until you're older. I wouldn't think you were too old any time really but I think mine suited me better when my face was younger!

Yes if you didn't want one.
No if you do want one.

It's weird you've thought that someone would think "she's struggling with life" about a piercing. Is this how you judge people?

Alittleshortforaspacepooper · 25/05/2020 14:13

Life is short. If you want a nose piercing just go and get one. Wear it with pride.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/05/2020 14:32

No, I wouldn't think twice. I have a nose piercing and many others. I'm nearly 30.

CornishPorsche · 25/05/2020 14:33

I'm 39, childless and have mine done. I've had it done 3 times over the last 20yrs,but kept getting jobs where they weren't acceptable. I no longer care.

Terralee · 25/05/2020 14:35

My friend who's 44 just got hers done, it looks nice.

Homescar · 25/05/2020 15:50

I'm a 47 year old professor and I have one. I really don't see how a bunch of strangers on the internet can tell you whether people who know you would think it was odd if you got your nose pierced, or, to be honest what your marital status and how many children you have are relevant to what is essentially a pretty mainstream type of jewellery.

MuthaClucker · 25/05/2020 15:51

I really think you’re overthinking this Grin

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 15:53

No I got mine done at a similar age and still have it now ( small hoop) I’ll likely never take it out tbh

MooChops89 · 25/05/2020 15:54

I got my nose and tragus done on my 29th birthday, 3 years ago and I still have them and love them. My nose piercing won't come out now anyway but I have a tiny plain ball stud in, a hoop never suited me as I couldn't find one small enough. Had my nose done twice in my teens too. Go for it!

AragonsGirl · 25/05/2020 15:55

I was 32 when I got my nose pierced, at no point did I give any thought to what other people would think!

DarkDarkNight · 25/05/2020 15:55

No it wouldn’t be an odd choice. I would like mine done but hate my nose so that would be an odd choice.

Seriously, I always wanted cartilage piercings since I was a teenager but was scared of the prospect. I plucked up the courage a few years ago and have 3 now and want another. I’m late 30s, I think it’s really mainstream now, loads of people of all ages getting them. Go for it.

BeeFarseer · 25/05/2020 15:56

Erm. 'Struggling with life' needs to be explained, it's a very odd thing to say.

I got mine redone when I was 35. I had it on and off since I was 18.

FromDespairToHere · 25/05/2020 15:57

I've got multiple piercings in my ears, and my nose pierced - all done in my late teens. Then 3 years ago, at the age of 41, I got a Monroe. So no, you're not too old!

calpolatdawn · 25/05/2020 15:59

struggling with life 😂😂

isupposeitsverynice · 25/05/2020 15:59

my mum had hers done at fifty-something. go for it (in a shop. post lockdown. don't go for it with a needle and ice cube)

SimonJT · 25/05/2020 16:01

If you want it get it, I’m 32 (and male) and I’ve had a thin nose ring for ages, looks good.

raspberryk · 25/05/2020 16:03

I has mine done for my 30th and I got a second done soon after, same nostril. I love it.

SiaPR · 25/05/2020 16:06

I don’t think it is an age thing, but more a nose shape thing. Pointy or big noses look awful with piercings.

CatRamsey · 25/05/2020 16:07

Do it! I'm 24 and I have two, one on each side. I had the first when I was 16 and second at 19. I'm concerned that you think a nose piercing would make someone appear as though they're struggling with life, I really don't understand the connection there Confused

bogoblin · 25/05/2020 16:08

Ah do it! I'm 26, expecting my first, and I have 2 nostril piercings (same side) and 10 pairs of gold rings in my ears...It's just a nose piercing! if you don't like it you can take it out.

Honestly loads of people never even notice that I have 1 let alone 2 so there's a good chance people might not spot it!

@raspberryk I ADORE my 2 same nostril piercing! Even when I just have little studs in. Aren't they great!

I want more now!

Thecruxxofitis · 25/05/2020 16:08

Get one! I think they look great

Mabelface · 25/05/2020 16:09

Had mine done for my 49th birthday and I still love it.
