Would getting a nose piercing be an odd choice?

Not necessarily 'am I too old' for one but more Would you find it odd if you knew me and I got one?

Im 24, married and mother of one (hopefully another soon).
I've always wanted a nose piercing but never got one. I know it would look nice as there is a picture of me where my sunglasses reflected on my nose and looked like a hoop and everyone said how nice it looked (before I corrected them that it was a shadow!)
My question is, would it be weird to get one? Would you think 'she's struggling with life' if you knew me and I got one? I really want one (obviously post lockdown). I feel like I'll regret it when I'm even older and don't ever do it... Which is silly,, it's just a nose ring!

Would you think 'she's struggling with life' if you knew me and I got one?

Where did you get that idea from?

Personally I don't like them. It seems weird to me and it would drive me nuts out the corner of my eye, as for nose blowing issues..urgh....

But you're talking about YOUR nose, not mine, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I really want one

then get one!!

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 16:11

I’m tempted by a second in the same side actually think it looks good the odd time iv seen it

DMCWelshcakes · 25/05/2020 16:35

I had mine done in my late 30s. If you want to get one, get one.

@bogoblin yes absolutely I like either 2 tiny studs, or a hoop in the lower and a stud in the other. A friend ended up with 2 as well (accidentally) and she wears 2 tiny hoops and that looks so cute on her.

@Namechange8186 it took me a few evenings searching on pinterest to do it as it is quite unusual. Worst case scenario you can remove it.

madcatladyforever · 25/05/2020 16:45

I have one at 58 it looks great but it's a tiny little stud and when it's out nobody even notices the hole.

mencken · 25/05/2020 16:45

up to you. Why are your children, current or future, relevant to this decision? I suppose a baby might pull a nose ring out.

MrsL1123 · 25/05/2020 16:47

I'm 33, I got mine done when I was about 28, and I love it! Always wear mine every day..
Do it!
Don't worry what anyone else says or thinks if it makes you happy and it's something u want go for it..

Mustbethewine · 25/05/2020 16:50

I had my septum pierced when I was 25. I'm 30 now. Still there. I think it's cool and really don't give two hoots what anyone else thinks. I'm getting another nose piercing once this all is all over. If it's something you want done then do it!

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 25/05/2020 16:56

I got mine at 21; am now 43.

I have had jobs in the past where, when I asked, they said no to wearing it at work now I just don't ask!

OtterBe4 · 25/05/2020 17:01

She's struggling with life
Why on earth would you think that of someone with a piercing?
What an odd thing to think Hmm

borntohula · 25/05/2020 17:02

I'm 31 with a nose ring. I do struggle with life occasionally, didn't realise there might be a link!

amusedbush · 25/05/2020 17:09

I’ve had a lot of piercings (including stretched ears for about a decade, but I’ve let them close up) and I have a septum piercing, which I got when I was 27.

I’m also covered in large, colourful tattoos though so it suits the overall look.

Go for it - nose piercings are cute.

Bertucci · 25/05/2020 17:12

I like nose piercings, and you're young so no-one will think 'mid-life crisis'. Grin

4tplussome · 25/05/2020 17:14

I had one at about your age - I loved it . Unfortunately had to take my stud out when I got a job that didn't allow it . Retainers weren't a thing then !
I used to wear the tiniest daintiest clear cubic zirconia stud and I really really liked it . If you want one - get one !

Daisychainsandglitter · 25/05/2020 17:14

I'd definitely do it. I'm 35 and have two young DD's.
Since I've been working from home it's been nice to ditch the corporate wear and I've been wearing my nose ring much more. I think they look nice.

Namechange8186 · 25/05/2020 17:16

@raspberryk Yeh exactly can always take it out . I’m going to look at some online later . Smile

quarantinevibes · 25/05/2020 17:17

Struggling with life Grin op I just laughed out loud. Anyway, I’d do it if you want to, I had mine pierced, went to bed woke up the next morning and it was gone completely healed over. My mum got hers done shortly after and the same thing happened to her! So she went and got it done again and it fell out again! I don’t know if we’re just very unlucky but I wouldn’t get mine done again for this reason

WhySeaEmm · 25/05/2020 17:19

You're massively overthinking this. Your twenties are for experimenting, go for it!

AvoidingRealHumans · 25/05/2020 18:52

I wear a fake nose ring some days.
Ordered it on ebay for less than 2 quid and looks real.
Everyone comments that it really suits me but I wouldn't actually get it done as I like being able to take it off.

Maybe try that before getting the real deal

Elephantonascooter · 26/05/2020 06:05

Just to confirm, I don't think anyone with a peircing is struggling with life. What I meant was more midlife crisis but I really hope I'm not at midlife crisis territory yet!
I suppose I just hope my life isnt too 'sensible' for it. You're all right, Im going to do it. It's my birthday in September so as soon as its something that can be done, I'll be doing it!

BelfastNonBlonde · 26/05/2020 06:09

I’m 35. Had one back in Uni but removed it when I started work.
I really want another one back in now and have done for a while! I would only get a tiny stud.

Have just started mat leave. Would
Be tempted to get one now so I’d be able to put it in and out by time I go back to work - but when are studios likely to open again?!

I say go for it! They can be cool if suits you!

CommonFlirtyLooksAboutThirty · 26/05/2020 07:59

You can't have a mid life crisis at 24!

No one gives a shit tbh.

I had mine done when I was 18 and wear a ring. I'm now 45 and I never take it out. It's just part of my face - I don't think anyone really notices it anymore.

Certainly no one thinks it means I'm struggling with life Wink

Lockdownlooks · 26/05/2020 08:10

Go for it if you want. As someone without children I’d be more worried about a baby pulling on the ring - think that about parents with bigger earrings as well.

Homescar · 26/05/2020 08:15

I suppose I just hope my life isnt too 'sensible' for it.

It's the most thoroughly conventional type of piercing after earlobes, OP. I think you are approaching this as though it's a facial tattoo or a huge bull-ring in your septum or something!

CommonFlirtyLooksAboutThirty · 26/05/2020 08:30

Lockdownlooks

I've had two children whilst having one and held many babies. They do make a bit of a grab for it but soon lose interest. Never caused a problem.
