Anyone else think F&@@ it after today's briefing?

After today's briefing, anyone else half thinking screw it, if Cummings can make up the rules as he goes, why the he'll can't I interpret them as I set fit too?

I have a clinically vulnerable child and have stayed indoors and been so strict the past 12 weeks, but even I'm now beginning to think what's the point? Clearly the govt does what it wants, why the hell should we listen to the govt any more? Lost all faith in them.

There is no evidence DC has an autistic child his wife's Spectator articles dont sound as if that is true. Parents who DO have special needs child(ren) are furious that he might consider than an excuse.

He drove a sick wife hundreds of miles when he had relatives nearby and others who could have travelled to him if needed. They were not needed.

As someone else said - more holes in his story than a string vest.

He put a child at risk through driving while feeling unwell and not sure his eyesight was adequate. Social series need to have a word with him about that.

I'm not thinking I can ignore the rules now - but I am thinking I no longer care to help rebuild the economy by bringing forward spending. I'm also considering donating money to the Labour Party.

Pr1mr0se · 26/05/2020 08:50

Surely the ones following him and protesting outside his house are also breaking the rules - if you accept what the press has said about Cummings being true - then you must also accept that the rest of the reporting is true too, or has the fact that journalists and activists have been camped outsisde his house not been reported widely? We are all allowed to travel within England if we live in England now so i DON'T see what the problem is with this anyway....

Chillipeanuts · 26/05/2020 08:54

S0upertrooper

@Chillipeanuts it's VERY possible that his explanation of using Barnard Castle as a test drive is utter bollocks. He told us not to believe everything the press says and in the next breath spins a Jackanory.“

Well, indeed.
The arrogance is breathtaking.

chaosmaker · 26/05/2020 16:53

@Limeandsodit

Nope.

The left have taken it to the extreme as usual.

What does that mean? The discussion is about the person that set the rules and then interpreted in a way that suited himself then giving a ridiculous explanation to try and justify/excuse his actions.

If you did vote for this shower then I can understand you feel guilty and responsible for what can only be descibed as clueless governance

Try looking at the dates it happened then as it was before the rules were changed to put vulnerable people on the coast in danger

Popped to the supermarket this afternoon. Whilst they were still monitoring entry, and provided sanitizer etc customers are totally over lockdown. Barely any social distancing at all. People behaving as if nothing was going on. The electorate appear to have said ‘fuck it - if they can do it and it’s ok, then why the fuck am I bothering’.

Bunnyfuller · 26/05/2020 18:38

The arrogance is what hurts most. That arrogance speaks volumes about what this government really think about the country’s intellect.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 26/05/2020 19:05

The government may well be right about the intellect of some.

It’s as if lockdown hasn’t happened.

And essential travel is apparently going on a day out 50 miles away from home with a metal detector.

And a family group all excited going to their caravan in the highlands.

But it’s ok, a few MPs and an advisor have done it so that’s ok.

NoHardSell · 26/05/2020 19:12

That's the spirit! Don't let them stop you from obeying the guidelines. Stay home, keep me safe.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 26/05/2020 20:02

Staying at home not an option for me and never has been.

Bugger eh?

BlackberryCane · 26/05/2020 20:58

If Cummings' little boy had autism or any kind of SN, medical condition or anything else that they might think they could use as an excuse or to get sympathy, he'd have said so by now.

MarshaBradyo · 26/05/2020 21:48

Re his son - Actually I don’t think he would, it could be the last thing he wants to use.

I have no idea if it’s the case or not however (as it should be).

ListeningQuietly · 26/05/2020 22:21

If you are angry about Cummings, email your MP
tell THEM how you feel
www.parliament.uk/get-involved/contact-your-mp/
they work for you

Threads on here will make no difference
emails to MPs might

BlackberryCane · 26/05/2020 22:35

If he's willing to claim to the nation that he put his child in a car while he test drove to see if it was safe, to admit to breaching lockdown rules and endangering the poor kid, there was no unembarrassing excuse or sympathy tactic available to him.

randomer · 27/05/2020 11:02

Shanaya takes Sami-Jo to her mams because she's poorly. She has a clapped out car ( bought on finance) and mam lives in the North East. Half way there Sami-Jo has a melt down and wets herself. Shanaya stops at the service station.
After a shed load of Haribo and some Calpol, she's at it again, another stop.
Mam is busy that day but it's OK because the back bedroom has a few toys and a bed. After a few cans( from the local shop) Shanaya doesn't feel so good , so she lets Sami-Jo play outside.
The cops arrive.

Usernamerequired · 27/05/2020 16:44

Well done to Yvette Cooper for mentioning Mumsnet survey figures regarding what parents are allowed to do regarding childcare when ill. Totally hammered Boris!! Still no straight answer from him as always though fgs. Clear as mud

Sarahbeans · 27/05/2020 16:48

After today's offering I have just written a two page letter explaining in full why I'm livid with the Govt, why it does matter to me, and why I'm not prepared to forget it and move it (not whilst we're still in this crisis, with unclear guidance!)

I had already emailed my MP, but only got a generic I'm too busy to answer your question email back

But yeah, saw the Mumsnet reference! Smile

@Sarahbeans i have already emailed but stuff it i’m going to hit on some more mps. Today was an absolute disgrace wasn’t it? All well and good Boris saying ‘sorry’ but DC hasn’t apologised. Need the so called evidence and an enquiry no matter what that twit says.
Still shielding and very thankful to be able to entertain children in our garden with such beautiful weather.
It takes sensible people like us to help save lives.
Stay safe 💐
