Anyone else think F&@@ it after today's briefing?

After today's briefing, anyone else half thinking screw it, if Cummings can make up the rules as he goes, why the he'll can't I interpret them as I set fit too?

I have a clinically vulnerable child and have stayed indoors and been so strict the past 12 weeks, but even I'm now beginning to think what's the point? Clearly the govt does what it wants, why the hell should we listen to the govt any more? Lost all faith in them.

every country seems to start easing restrictions around the same point, and its not just about infection rates
Well actually it is. At least in part. These other countries have lower r rates than us.
Probably because they locked down earlier and properly. They've also taken simple measures that mean easing their lockdowns will be with less risk to their economies and lives. We could've done the same. We can still implement these measures and it shouldn't take too long. Other countries have managed it.

SugarNyx · 25/05/2020 19:15

I couldn’t give a shit, i don’t want to get it so follow the rules. Don’t care what other people do or don’t do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bertoldbrecht · 25/05/2020 19:16

@Clytemnestra2 thing is many of the ones who voted for them don't have a clue about their ideological principals - look at people who say 'I'm a life long tory voter ' - really ? lifelong ? and loads just heard get brexit done without knowing much about their other policies such as minimal state intervention.

Clytemnestra2 · 25/05/2020 19:20

@Bertoldbrecht I know... democracy really is the least worst option we have.

Jeeperscreepers69 · 25/05/2020 19:26

@corlan. Are people not normally buried alone?

bossyrossy · 25/05/2020 19:29

I dislike Dominic Cummings intensely but have sympathy with the decision he made regarding the care of his child. He used his common sense to find a solution as to who would look after his young child in the event that he and his wife would be too ill to look after him. If I was in his situation and had family to help out albeit some distance away, I would do the same thing. However, this is no excuse for others to relax the rules unless they have a genuine reason to do so i.e. a sick or dying close family member.

LesLavandes · 25/05/2020 19:30

Set an example. It was like Costa Brava opposite my house on beach this weekend.

Just man up and set an example of how to follow the rules.

We want to get over this pandemic, don't we. Stop moaning about politicians and do your best

Inoneminute · 25/05/2020 19:32

FGS are we going back there?. Staying at home does not get it over quicker.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 25/05/2020 19:34

People are citing Cummings as justification for things they were almost certainly going to do anyway

Aye.

LesLavandes · 25/05/2020 19:34

Maybe you're one of the eejits that was on the beach today

LesLavandes · 25/05/2020 19:34

Social gathering

LesLavandes · 25/05/2020 19:36

To - inoneminute

Inoneminute · 25/05/2020 19:38

No, I havent broken a single rule, haven't been anywhere except my "critical" job. I do udnerstand the science though and staying at home will not get it over quicker. No one has ever told us it will.

Emilesgran · 25/05/2020 19:45

The problem for me is that he wasn't putting his family at risk - he was potentially bringing Covid to lots of other people by driving up there with his sick wife. Who seriously believes he did the journey with a four year old without stopping once? And why couldn't the 17 year old niece have come down to them? Someone could have brought her down, then driven back up, at least they would not have been in as much contact with others.

Or at the least, if he had gone up and collected her, without having the sick wife and small child needing to stop off, there'd have been a bit less risk of spreading it. Because by going together, if they'd broken down or had an accident, the sick wife would have spread it to whoever they were in contact with.

And anyway, the business about Barnard Castle proves that was all just an excuse - he had to test his eyesight?? By putting his wife and child in the car and risking their lives? Just awful that the government cares so little about what we think that they're basically giving everyone the two fingers here.

FelicisNox · 25/05/2020 19:46

Nope. I'm not as stupid (or selfish) as DC.

Still over here doing the right thing.

dustyparadeground · 25/05/2020 19:53

He's a pathetic disgrace, hard to believe he may get to keep his job. But authority shot. However I would not put my daughter or her partner or 4 month old granddaughter at any more risk than they are in already so I will try and follow lockdown instructions. Not seen them since 14/3 and they're only the other side of London. I do have one question that I haven't heard anybody ask or answer yet. Doesn't Mary Wakefield have a driving licence?

Mylittlepea · 25/05/2020 20:05

Bossyrossy. 100% agree with you.

I’m totally done with this blame culture now. Just want normally. Want would we have all done to look after our kids???

Mylittlepea · 25/05/2020 20:05

*normality

Usernamerequired · 25/05/2020 20:06

I am very worried that a second wave will happen because fuckwits will do what they want. My other half is a medical keyworker who has stayed in another property since lockdown. The kids and i haven’t seen him since March and we are all shielding in our home too. Would’ve loved a wee trip to a castle, doing something for St Patricks day, Mothers Day and two of the family birthdays that involved only sending a card, present in the post and phone call. Bored shitless sitting in the house trying to keep the children from killing each other and wasted an hour watching that non-apologetic twat on tv

Stumpie222 · 25/05/2020 20:15

NO! Two wrongs don’t make a right

DanceItOut · 25/05/2020 20:15

I’m not thinking fuck it exactly because I still need to make sensible choices for my family to protect them but I am officially done listening to the government. Zero faith in them left at this point.

Angrywife · 25/05/2020 20:21

Anyone who reduces their own restrictions based on the acts of 1 person, whoever that person is, is stupid.

Bertoldbrecht · 25/05/2020 20:25

Since lockdown has kicked in we now have relatively few covid cases on our unit (iCU). Initially for the first 6-7 weeks it was horrendous. Not sure what the rest of the hospital is like. Whether it has calmed down due to lock down slowing down transmission or natural course of the disease, who knows, but I sure hope we don't get a spike.

StoneofDestiny · 25/05/2020 20:44

Off for eye test tomorrow

Anyone else think F&@@ it after today's briefing?
Chillipeanuts · 25/05/2020 20:45

Good grief no, I want my loved ones to come safely out of the other side of this.
