Something just moved in my stomach..

Ohshitx · 24/05/2020 17:44

I’ve name changed for this.

Something literally just rolled in my stomach, there was a popping sensation and now I swear I have a bump where I didn’t before. Nothing that strange until I mention that I’ve not had sex since November and I’ve had periods since then. But something is moving in my stomach, and not like trapped wind. I’ll get out for a test first thing, but I surely can’t be that many weeks pregnant and not have had a single symptom till now, surely? Please someone tell me I can’t.

OP posts:
OJZJ · 25/05/2020 20:46

four rings and all the other delightful "my kids are fine", etc it was not meant to be nasty. ALSO -ANY amount of alcohol CAN AND DOES damage a baby hence the misdiagnosis of adhd, asd etc

Bookoffacts · 25/05/2020 20:49

Have you not got other friends or family you can tell first?
Please listen to the positive feedback on here and ignore the others. There are some horrible women out there. I had my second child in a similar situation, but I knew I was pregnant, I won't tell you the horrible comments I got. Its all worked out really great. He's 12 now 💕
Also.
An awful lot of women have had a drink or even got quite drunk in the first 4/5 weeks before they knew they were pregnant. It's quite normal and normal to worry about it but it always turns out fine.

aibutohavethisusername · 25/05/2020 20:51

Hope that you are OK OP. This is such a huge shock, I think you’re right to call the Dr tomorrow and take it from there. Please keep us updated.

THINK, @OJZJ. Is it:

True?
Helpful?
Inspiring?
Necessary?
Kind?

If not, on a thread like this, keep it to yourself for pity's sake. Also:

www.lamaze.org/Connecting-the-Dots/making-sense-of-advice-about-drinking-during-pregnancy-part-one-the-evidence

Despite this evidence-that only heavy drinking causes FAS and that binge drinking is riskier than light or occasional drinking-advice to women in the United States has long insisted that women avoid alcohol entirely during pregnancy. Advice to women that they should not drink at all if they are pregnant (or now if they might become pregnant) seems predicated on the notion that if a lot of alcohol causes major problems, perhaps a little bit of alcohol might cause lesser problems. This idea-that any amount of drinking is as risky as heavy drinking-began to permeate the medical literature within a few years of the discovery of FAS (Armstrong 2003). But there is no well-accepted scientific evidence that low or moderate levels of alcohol consumption during pregnancy-even in the first few days and weeks after conception-cause FAS or other associated problems. A comprehensive review of the literature by epidemiologists at Oxford University concluded that there was "no consistent evidence of adverse effects from low-to-moderate prenatal alcohol consumption" (Gray and Henderson 2006). However, the review noted that there was some evidence of neurodevelopmental effects caused by binge drinking during pregnancy. (That report defined binge drinking as five or more drinks on any one occasion, whereas the recent CDC report defined binge drinking as 4 or more drinks in a 2-3 hour period.)

Oh, and also @OJZL if you want to argue about this further, start your own thread rather than derailing this one.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 25/05/2020 21:16

Oh op, I've just caught up! I hope the conversation with the father goes well and the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly and allows you to come to terms with it in such a short space of time!
Congratulations

Chocolatehamper · 25/05/2020 21:22

Congratulations op, hope you’re not in too much shock? I was five months before I realised - again, no symptoms and no weight gain until I knew - then it was like an airbag went off!
Like you, I had a couple of drinks at New Years, not a big drinker otherwise but worried about it. My boy was a June baby and he’s about to turn 14 a strapping 6’1” so no harm done.
Good luck with the conversation with your friend and it might just be the best birthday present your son ever gets! 💐

Lifeisabeach09 · 25/05/2020 21:28

Shocking news, OP. Hope it all goes well. Get that scan!

iklboo · 25/05/2020 21:33

OJZJ - just stop it please. Push your agenda on your own thread.

Instatwat · 25/05/2020 21:33

You seem to be handling this so calmly OP. Really amazing, well done you. I hope the midwife is helpful for you tomorrow and that you and the Dad find a peaceful way to go forward together!

Instatwat · 25/05/2020 21:34

OJZJ Literally no one has given your post any positive feedback. Keep it to yourself or start a new thread; you are not being helpful.

CeCeDrake · 25/05/2020 21:41

@Itisbetter ahha well I roared laughing!!!
Either one just!
I also say possible hernia, I have one that comes and goes on the right hand side of my stomach and it makes weird sounds when I press it (other people can hear it) and it sometimes feels like it rolls about! I’m about 21 months pregnant

SugarSpiceAllThingsNice · 25/05/2020 21:41

Oh wow, what a shock. Congratulations OP, I'm sure you'll figure it all out and hopefully the Dad will be supportive.

CeCeDrake · 25/05/2020 21:42

Omg cross post, I guess yours is a baby!!!

SpacePug · 25/05/2020 21:43

Oh wow! That must have been a freaky moment feeling the baby moving. Congratulations! What a shock, hope the midwife is helpful tomorrow and gets you booked in for a scan asap to check how things are going. I probably wouldn't tell the father until I'd had a scan to be 10000% sure and then also have the proof of a scan photo. It's going to be a mega shock to him too. Eek! Best wishes 🙂

HoldMyWeave · 25/05/2020 21:55

A little drink 5 months ago will not hurt the baby. Jeez, be kind, the poor girl has had a massive shock. Dont make it worse for her in lockdown

Have you got a mum to support you?

spotlighton · 25/05/2020 22:07

Good luck Op and congratulations!
Hope the Fwb is happy & your DS

walkingchuckydoll · 25/05/2020 22:08

My cousin drank a lot every weekend (partying student) till she found out she was pregnant at ten weeks. She also ate everything you shouldn't. Her boy is perfectly healthy.

Forgothowtospell · 25/05/2020 22:10

@OJZJ not helpful in the slightest! My mum, who is a midwife, actually advised me to have a glass of wine towards the end of my pregnancy to help relax. Come to think about it, alot of other midwifes also recommended that to me also. Congratulations op, big hugs. Xx

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 25/05/2020 22:11

OJZJ - just go away. You aren’t helping so just go away.

OP I hope you manage a good nights sleep & good luck tomorrow to get the ball rolling.

AdalbertWaffling · 25/05/2020 22:13

Wow, congratulations OP! What a huge shock! I hope everything goes well with telling the father - you never know, this could be an unexpected blessing for you both!

MrsMozartMkII · 25/05/2020 22:14

Congratulations lass!

I hope all goes well tomorrow with your calls.

Take some time and be kind to yourself. Give yourself chance to get to grips with the news.

mogloveseggs · 25/05/2020 22:21

Wow what a shock for you!
Congratulations Flowers

OhioOhioOhio · 25/05/2020 22:21
