Do any other manfolk write like this or just mine?

Everything in capital letters. But the first letter of the sentence (where the only capital letter should be in my opinion) is slightly larger than the rest.

I thought he just did this on the shopping list but I’ve just seen some of his work notes and it turns out it’s everything.

And now that I’m thinking about it my dad does exactly the same.

Anyone else?!

Yep.

My dad, my brother and my husband all do.

They are all engineers, I don’t know if that’s a factor? Electrical, mechanical and software respectively.

Iggly · 22/05/2020 14:34

No...

ChandlerIsTheBestFriend · 22/05/2020 14:35

Yes my dad does. I did for a while too but I seem to have reverted to normal writing at some point. Depends what I’m writing. If I want it to be very neat I’ll do all caps.

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 22/05/2020 14:35

Both of my grandmas do, but theyre both womanfolk.

LolaColaMola · 22/05/2020 14:36

Mine doesn't care about capital letters. He puts them anywhere he wants, in the middle of words most of the time. But he is dyslexic so maybe that's why. He's prefers manual work and hates writing and reading

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 22/05/2020 14:36

Although my ex-BIL writes like this which has always amused me.

Do any other manfolk write like this or just mine?
Tentatively · 22/05/2020 14:37

No, thankfully! That would drive me crazy. I have a friend who starts each word with a capital letter and claims it's the way she was taught to write at school.

turkeyboots · 22/05/2020 14:37

My Dad does, he's dyslexic and it's his attempt at legibility.

peajotter · 22/05/2020 14:38

My dad. Designer so does it for official drawings. Also I would guess he’s dyslexic so it helps with b and d etc

Iwalkinmyclothing · 22/05/2020 14:40

My dad does because otherwise his handwriting is illegible. My brother doesn't but should because his handwriting is dreadful, like that of a small child (I understand that's due to his dyslexia). My DH does when writing in English, but in his first language he has beautiful 'traditional' handwriting of which I am hugely envious. None of my sons do afaik.

shookbelves · 22/05/2020 14:44

My DH writes in capitals because even he can't read his own handwriting Grin

MawnyStannit · 22/05/2020 14:45

Yes actually my dad is an engineer and he writes in all capitals too.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/05/2020 14:45

Yes. Engineer.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 22/05/2020 14:50

My dad would do this too! Dh does for lists and Kitchen Table messages.

Don't really know about the children...they are all grown ups now so it's all text/whatsapp messages!

ghostmous3 · 22/05/2020 14:52

My dad was an engineer and yep he wrote in capitals too

Justajot · 22/05/2020 14:55

Yes, DH writes in capitals as he can't read his own lowercase writing. Having marked exams, I pity his examiners and am amazed how well he did.

He was looking after home schooling yesterday and was afronted when I asked him if he knew how to write a cursive 'b'. I don't know why it offended him as I've never seen any evidence that he can write properly.

Justajot · 22/05/2020 14:55

And my DF also only writes in capitals.

LittleMissNaice · 22/05/2020 14:58

I've no idea. His handwriting is so bad, it's impossible to tell.

user1498572889 · 22/05/2020 14:59

Is he left handed. My DH is a leftie and writes like yours.

sunflowery · 22/05/2020 15:00

My dad is an engineer actually!

DH is nowhere near technical

user1498572889 · 22/05/2020 15:00

And he was an engineer before he retired.

sunflowery · 22/05/2020 15:01

Nope right handed

SweetPetrichor · 22/05/2020 15:01

My DP writes in capitals because his handwriting is illegible if he doesn't.
I write in the 'capitals with a bigger capital at the start of the sentence' style even though my handwriting is commented on for it's neatness. I do it as habit from work. I am also an engineer. It's how I mark up drawings and calculations.

HopeYouStepOnALego · 22/05/2020 15:02

My husband doesn't do this but his handwriting is atrociously bad, as is his spelling (he writes a word as it sounds). When he adds to the shopping list, or writes anything on the calendar, I have to ask him to translate.

Addler · 22/05/2020 15:03

My dad does this! And strangely enough I do it as well when I do crosswords, because I always watched him doing crosswords growing up.
