*boring post alert* anyone got a shark hoover?

On QVC today they have a shark hoover with the anti hair wrap for £166. I’ve thought about buying one for ages, me and my 2 kids both shed hair like crazy.

That said, I don’t NEED a hoover, the one I have is pretty crap (blocks all the time) but is barely 2 years old. I’m furloughed and while we’re fortunate enough to be ok financially just now I’m actively trying to cut back on spending.

Is it worth buying or should I not bother?

We got the V8 cordless Shark and it’s utter crap tbh. I’ve resorted back to Henry which can actually deal with bits bigger than a dust mote.

BubblesBuddy · 22/05/2020 10:20

But a Miele. Best vacuum available.

ThePlantsitter · 22/05/2020 10:21

If you were thinking of getting a new vacuum anyway I'd recommend the shark. The anti hair wrap does work.

But it's a vac and is not going to change your life (I say things as someone who bought a steam cleaner feeling it would change my life and guess what it didn't). If you're trying not to buy things, I wouldn't.

Hate Henry’s! Cumbersome old things.

MrsJoshNavidi · 22/05/2020 10:21

No, but the guy who cleaned our carpet this week had a Shark and the amount of crap it got out of our regularly vacuumed carpet was embarrassing.

I don't know what model it was though.

stairgates · 22/05/2020 10:22

I have a shark from a few years ago, the pet hair one. It is the most expensive hoover I have ever bought and I absolutely hate it! Before that I had always bought a pull along cylinder? type and that would lift the carpet, this handheld shark thing has poor suction, constantly needs the dust filter cleaned out which may be because its working so well? but i need something that can do more than a quarter of a room before losing suction, so for me its a dont do it. Im happy to read others recommendations as possibly may follow their advice on a better machine!

I've got a shark and I love it.
I live on a Farm and have lots of fur in the house. It deals with it all brilliantly.

StoorieHoose · 22/05/2020 10:24

I have a shark with the anti hair wrap. It's miles better than the Dyson it replaced and doesn't weigh a tonne like the Dyson. I like the lift off part - makes doing the stairs much easier

UncleFoster · 22/05/2020 10:24

I love my shark!

Honestly when I bought it I vacuumed my living room and it was literally full from one room. I had only vacuumed the day before.

I wouldnt get a cordless though as all cordlesses are less powerful

MissMogwai · 22/05/2020 10:25

I bought the same model a few weeks ago. It came within 2 days which was great as I thought it would be ages, with the current situation.

I'm really impressed with it. It's very easy to use and empty.

It picks up everything, I thought my carpets were pretty clean before but the amount of dust and hair it's picked up! BlushBlush

It's really way to use on the stairs too.

My carpets look like new so I'd definitely recommend it.

Newcatmum · 22/05/2020 10:25

I've got it and loved it at first I couldn't believe the amount of stuff it picked up on the first useShock. Now 5 months later I'm not so impressed, I can't tell if it's not working as well or if I'm just used to it.

UncleFoster · 22/05/2020 10:26

We had an old dyson before as well so not like we had a really crap hoover. And its so much easier to do the stairs, under the sofa, hard to reach areas because of the lift away bit

FluffyAragog · 22/05/2020 10:30

I've got a shark pets lift away, had a Dyson before and the shark is miles better. You do have to make sure you keep on top of the maintenance of it though or it does lose suction quickly.

Or maybe the carpets are now so clean, there's no more muck for the shark to pick up.

Meruem · 22/05/2020 10:35

I have a shark liftaway and I love it. It's so powerful, much better than my old Dyson.

rosiethehen · 22/05/2020 10:40

We have a Shark and it is much better than the Dyson, but if I could have afforded something better I would have got a higher quality vacuum. Dysons are awful though, steer clear of them.

Newcatmum · 22/05/2020 10:47

I wish Grin. I have a 3 year old who trails food around the house on a daily basis my carpets are ruined Sad

This thread has made me want to clean my shark that's what I'm going to do today.

beebeeduck · 22/05/2020 10:51

They can't cope with hair at all, neither can dysons

StoorieHoose · 22/05/2020 11:04

My shark copes fine with the collie hair that is shed in vast quantities along with DDs long hair

Amicompletelyinsane · 22/05/2020 11:08

I love my shark. Lots of pets and much better, lighter and quieter than my Dyson. The kids singing whilst using it gets a tad annoying tho.... Baby shark....

PlayinMay · 22/05/2020 11:08

I have a cordless. Buy a spare filter set online is my advice. It's not perfect but the amount of food it does pick up is insane.

icebearforpresident · 22/05/2020 11:11

Thanks everyone. You had me convinced but just went online to order and it’s sold out. Will keep an eye for it going back on offer though.

Just wanted to join in the boring chat. We just replaced our vacuum cleaner with a Vax Blade 4, it’s amazing! I hoovered the whole house and it filled 2 cylinders, I can’t believe we’ve been walking around and breathing in all that crap for so long! It’s cordless which I love too. I think you’ve got to own a Hoover for a good few years to really judge it fairly, they often start out great but then loose suction.

TheVanguardSix · 22/05/2020 11:19

I just could not get on with my Shark. I sold it on eBay.
Miele. My tried and true. Never lets me down. I have falling hair all the time thanks to meds. Plus we have pets.

cocopops · 22/05/2020 11:23

I have the Pet Shark and I love it. Best hoover I’ve ever had and their customer service is brilliant. I’ve had Dysons in the past and there is no comparison.
