Lilactree MAT is multi academy trust (schools) about a third of schools are in these and the others in council run LA control.

PickAChew · 22/05/2020 16:58

Mine are both autistic @thegreatwave and DS1 has been through some massive aversions in his lifetime. He refused to set foot in M&S for about a year after their experiments with canned music.

His main aversion, currently, is getting off his arse to do anything. He hasn't left the house for 2 months, now. He mostly lies on his favourite sofa with his laptop and phone. His bedroom is too hot during the day but he refuses to close the curtains.

Ds2 is just as stubborn. He will not leave the washing machine on. It can take 3 hours to complete a 1 hour wash cycle because he keeps turning it off. It's not like I don't have a constant mountain of laundry to deal with, either! I try not to take him on the same walk 2 days running or else it becomes The Walk and he refuses to go any other way.

Orangeblossom78 · 22/05/2020 17:03

On the BBC feed just now from the US-

Meanwhile, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released new guidance that warns around 35% of coronavirus carriers show no symptoms The federal health agency added that its their "best estimate" that 0.4% of people who feel ill will die and around 40% of transmissions are occurring before people even feel unwell

So...that is 0.4% of the remaining 65% so a pretty small percentage, considering the overall higher rate in older ages. Tiny

Orangeblossom78 · 22/05/2020 17:04

I mean in the working age or young population

Orangeblossom78 · 22/05/2020 17:05

Oh PickAChew you need a Halo

DominaShantotto · 22/05/2020 17:12

Oh come on - if you can let Priti Patel out of lockdown after the last time she fucked up the daily briefing - you can let our bloody kids out! They're much less deadly!

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 22/05/2020 17:14

I don’t think ‘blended learning’ will happen. My hope is that by August things will have calmed down and it’ll actually be easier for them to quietly abandon it and just go back to normal.

MorrisZapp · 22/05/2020 17:20

I agree mrslang. The world will be a very different place by August. July will soften us up with visits to primark, playdates and using people's loos as well as sitting in their gardens. By August we'll be embracing a 'fuck it' vibe. We'll also be eight weeks sicker of our kids.

Nihiloxica · 22/05/2020 17:26

Flight to Serbia booked.

Woop! Grin

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/05/2020 17:30

Just had a look and the 7 day average for new cases of covid has gone down from 15808 to 9282 in the last 4 weeks and the 7 day average for deaths has gone down from 621 to 342. That's good news so I'm popping it here. The only place on this site that good news is welcome these days.

BarkandCheese · 22/05/2020 17:30

Can I embrace the fuck it vibe now? I’m feeling very fuck it today.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/05/2020 17:30

8 weeks sicker of our kids. That's got my mind boggling Grin

DS1 has just had a big rant at DS2 "YOU BIG, FAT, OLD, DUMMY, STUPID LIAR!!!" I've congratulated him on his excellent application of an expanded noun phrase.

This is why children need school not the indefinite care of browbeaten mothers who had enough of the system years ago Grin

It's OK, I do plenty to bolster DS2's self esteem too and he knows not to care too much when DS1 is off on one Wink

BakewellTarts · 22/05/2020 17:33

@LivinLaVidaLoki thanks for the stats. A welcome tonic.

BlueBlueAndPink · 22/05/2020 17:33

Afternoon all, can I join?

These threads were recommended to me on my last post, where I have been accused of killing people and neglecting my children (2 and 1)

Because I took them to the park in their pram today, where I met my mother and aunt (one household) who I haven't seen for months, and sat well over 3 metres away from them for an hour having a socially distanced picnic.

I hadn't heard of the dementors until today. Very fitting. Love it.

MorrisZapp · 22/05/2020 17:35

Aaargh I need a fact check! Chief Dementor on fb is saying schools in France have had to close again following an outbreak of 70 cases linked to schools.

I'm certain I saw this on the news today and it was actually two cases, which both tested negative? I can't find the facts anywhere.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 22/05/2020 17:35

Hi @blue, nice to see you!

KaronAVyrus · 22/05/2020 17:36

Morris - just do faux innocence and ask for a link because you’d love to read more about it. 😉

BakewellTarts · 22/05/2020 17:37

Welcome @BlueBlueAndPink I have to say you will need to do better than that to keep up with our murdering and neglectful ways.

I am sure you, your children, mum and aunt feel so much better for today. So many seem to think mental health doesn't matter but it does.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/05/2020 17:40

Hi @MorrisZapp
There were 70 cases that were reported the day after schools opened in france. 70 across 40k or so schools. I think. Given the incubation period of the disease it could not be attributed to the schools opening. Soooo schools are still open.

BlueBlueAndPink · 22/05/2020 17:42

Hi SirSamuel and others, I think I've found my people!

I have to tackle my overflowing wash basket but I'll be back in a couple of hours with a gin and can't wait to read about all the wonderful ways you've been slaughtering your friends and family Gin

LivinLaVidaLoki · 22/05/2020 17:42

@MorrisZapp I think some of the affected schools closed temporarily as a precaution but are open again now.

onedayinthefuture · 22/05/2020 17:44

Patrick Vallance saying social distancing will be with us for 'some time' until we find a treatment or vaccine..... how long though? Seriously how long can we put our lives on hold? Especially our children? They only get one childhood :(

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 22/05/2020 17:46

I did extra slaughtering today, because I went to Sainsbury's, forgot to pick up my Tu clothing parcel (summer school dresses for DD, once she can go murdering off to school) so went back to the shop again half an hour later! Dah dah duuuuhhhhh! I expect people were dropping dead in my wake as I drove home.

I also drove very fast up the big a road that skirts past my town, with the music up very, very loud, and screamed sang at the top of my lungs for five minutes. A totally unnecessary journey, and I was going about 80, so I was clearly lucky not to bring the NHS to its knees in one fell swoop today.

BakewellTarts · 22/05/2020 17:47

Or my 81 year old mum and 84 year old MIL? Both of whom are desperate to see their grandchildren again. Mum has said to me she would rather take her chances with the virus.

LilacTree1 · 22/05/2020 17:54

Blue

Welcome along. It’s exactly what you did today that I’m pleased to see.

Some Other countries are doing social distancing, in answer to a pp.

I’m afraid this makes me think even more there’s an agenda behind it all

I just hope that normal human behaviour will win out.

The social distancing isn’t even law but they are still getting scientists to go on about it?

I imagine today’s briefing will partly be worse due to the long weekend.

there will be lots of people in their 80s who would rather take their chances with the virus than be shut away alone.
