Has anyone actually lost weight during lockdown?

As I’m furloughed, I’ve been at home very day since mid March. I’ve used the previously abandoned exercise bike every day in a high setting for 30 mins.
I don’t think I’ve lost a lot of weight but I feel better and think I look a bit different.
It’s the one thing that I’m feeling a slight sense of control over while most other things are out of my control.

Yes I've been running 10km 3 to 4 times a week and have rejoined my local slimming world group using the virtual zoom meetings that they now do. Just over half a stone to get to where I want to be so I'm hoping I'll be there by the time I'm back to work as normal.

I'm loving the time to exercise and go for walks and it's nice to have control over that one aspect of my life. I think I'll definitely struggle to fit as much in when I'm back at work.

Me. 10kg down in 10 weeks. No treats in the house and have the time to make salads etc for lunch as I’m working from home. Walk the fogs with my son each day. No eating out. It’s been fantastic and I aiming for another 5kg.

pinkbowl · 21/05/2020 13:06

Yes. Thanks for asking.
I have lost 8lbs. No eating out and having time to plan meals has helped mostly. I have really avoided alcohol. Limiting myself to two drinking days a week.
I started daily yoga and i love it.

GertrudeCB · 21/05/2020 13:08

I have, I've used the unusual circumstances to finally address by overeating and binging.

motorcyclenumptiness · 21/05/2020 13:20

Alas no - while I've rediscovered my love of running, I've also rediscovered my love of chocolate digestives

Katinski · 21/05/2020 13:20

Me. Don't have scales (Spawn of the Devil, I reckon), only ever want to eat when I'm hungry and I'm seldom feeling hungry. Gone from normal slim to becoming quite gaunt now. When my 12 week isolation is up and I can get out walking, I'm already planning my celebratory meal. Lots of shellfish, and all the weird and wonderful I really love. Tripe in white wine, garlic and chillies, anyone?

Graphista · 21/05/2020 13:23

Me I've dropped a dress size, even though I'm actually eating more!

I'm housebound and disabled so very limited on exercise, but prior to lockdown was living on junk ready to eat stuff.

As those products have been harder to get as well as delivery slots I've ended up cooking properly again and even though in volume I'm eating more plus baking and eating cake! I've lost weight.

TwoRedCushions · 21/05/2020 13:25

Me, from stress. Don’t recommend it.

monkeyonthetable · 21/05/2020 13:28

DS has. He's done it really sensibly and I'm incredibly proud of him. Now I need to copy his method.

Burpalot · 21/05/2020 13:28

Yes 12 pounds. I had weight loss surgery a year ago though so... I'm surprised though. I've been drinking A LOT of booze

CaptainBrickbeard · 21/05/2020 13:29

I have lost steadily at about a pound a week. Continuing to low carb after January-March on the Fast800. I’ve lost three stone this year so far. No particular exercise - just a walk every day in lockdown. I keep meaning to do some weights. Weight loss has slowed as I definitely snack more often, have more dark chocolate than is ideal and also more wine. But I know how easily I could have gone completely the other way and piled on weight so I’m glad I’ve stayed off the carbs anyway!

Northernsoullover · 21/05/2020 13:31

I lost all interest in food when lockdown started. I've lost about 8lb. I'm not anywhere near as anxious now but my appetite hasn't come back Sad

Voxx · 21/05/2020 13:35

Yes. Not sure how much as I don’t weigh myself but my clothes are noticeably looser. I’m running more/further plus I have more time for other workouts as well. I’m eating healthily and haven’t binged which is something I struggle with (EDs of various types have been part of my life for the last 25 years). Wanting to be as healthy as possible in case I catch CV and not wanting to waste food by bingeing has really helped me get into a good mindset.

amusedbush · 21/05/2020 13:41

I gained a few pounds at the start of lockdown due to boredom snacking but I got a handle on it quite quickly and I’ve lost almost a stone.

I still have another two to lose so I’m taking this opportunity to focus on it. It’s much easier when I’m not constantly out and about, meeting friends for dinner or being tempted by a bacon roll at work!

kateybeth79 · 21/05/2020 13:52

Nope. I hate running and working out at home. I usually go to the gym 3-4 times a week and as I can't do that, I've put on a stone. I've been doing a little bit of exercise but no where near the amount I need to.

WayTooBloodyTired · 21/05/2020 13:54

I don't know how much because my scales will tell you half a stone difference if you move them 2cm over. I don't feel like I've lost much or any for a few weeks but clothes I've not fit into for a while are loose now. My body shape has changed completely though, my waist has completely gone and I'm almost straight up and down. All my clothes from last time I was this weight look shit too now Confused I'm a key worker and when I'm not in work I'm walking about 8-12 miles to distract from what's happening. On my wages I can't afford new bloody trousers either Grin

Smollle · 21/05/2020 13:55

Yes. 18lbs.

50 to go.

Bloodybridget · 21/05/2020 14:01

God, no. I've gained about 5lb so far. Eating loads and baking frequently. Kudos to those who are being sensible.

Settle59 · 21/05/2020 15:16

yes but I'm on a strict diet and exercise programme - started it on 14th April

Megatron · 21/05/2020 15:20

I was going the opposite way until a week ago when I realised that I was setting myself up for a fall. Got the turbo in the back garden with the bike, downloaded the Lose It app, upped my water intake and I've lost 2.5 lbs in 8 days.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 21/05/2020 15:23

Yes, Me!
On the gall stone diet!
I have clavicles! And chronic abdominal pain!
Go Me!

Megatron · 21/05/2020 15:23

@Bloodybridget I'm still baking loads too, but I find if I count it then I'm fine. I might just have one cake instead of three that way. 😆 x

Bamaluz · 21/05/2020 15:28

Yes, by cutting out biscuits, eating sensibly and exercising.

RhymingRabbit3 · 21/05/2020 15:33

I lost at least a stone on day 1 when I had a baby Grin

Probably put on loads over the first 6 weeks as we ate a lot of easter chocolate, ready meals and takeaways.

I've been doing slimming world for the last 2.5 weeks and lost half a stone so far.

Megatron · 21/05/2020 16:04

@RhymingRabbit3 that's brilliant in two and a half weeks, well done.
