Has anyone actually lost weight during lockdown?

As I’m furloughed, I’ve been at home very day since mid March. I’ve used the previously abandoned exercise bike every day in a high setting for 30 mins.
I don’t think I’ve lost a lot of weight but I feel better and think I look a bit different.
It’s the one thing that I’m feeling a slight sense of control over while most other things are out of my control.

@Megatron thank you :) I'm breastfeeding a hungry 8 week old which I think has contributed as well.

DH has lost just over a stone and is now writhin the "healthy" bmi for the first time in a decade.

It turns out it wasn't my cooking that was making him fat but the latte habit, "occasional" bacon sandwich, office cakes and biscuits and meal deal lunches. Not that I've said "I told you so" , obviously.

PowerslidePanda · 21/05/2020 17:04

@unlimiteddilutingjuice - I've been there - you have my sympathy! Sad Hope you're not waiting long for the op.

PowerslidePanda · 21/05/2020 17:04

I'm 18lb lighter (but need to lose at least another 5lb to get into the healthy weight range). A combination of exercising with DD for her sake, snacking less because she's around (she'd want to graze all the time too) and being scared into eating less/more healthily because of obesity as a COVID risk factor.

MonsteraCheeseplant · 21/05/2020 17:10

Yes! 12lbs and DH has lost over a stone and a half. Calorie counting (made easier by no meals out) and gentle exercise.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 22/05/2020 08:41

Thanks PowerslidePanda
I was near the top of the waiting list before lockdown so hopefully it won't be too long now.

PowerslidePanda · 22/05/2020 19:43

@unlimiteddilutingjuice - I really hope so! I remember the wait feeling like forever. Good luck!

Fallsballs · 22/05/2020 20:31

I’ve gone down a dress size - lost a tooth and bridge beginning of April and I can’t see a dentist or eat properly. Not ideal way to lose weight.

Twospaniels · 22/05/2020 21:20

Yes
2kg, but more importantly for me I have lost 2in off my waist.

I am eating normally but have cut out most snacks.

I walk the dogs in the morning minimum 2miles, but what’s changed fro m before is that I’m now doing a 15 min or 30 min beginners workout in the evening.

It really has made all the difference.

KobeWan · 25/05/2020 12:24

I don't think my weight has changed but I've definitely lost muscle tone. Just thinking about it now as I sit outside in a pair of shorts! Need to get some proper exercise!

oohnicevase · 25/05/2020 12:27

I've lost about 10 pounds but I joined slimming world at the beginning ..

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 25/05/2020 12:27

I’ve no idea what I weigh, but my summer clothes are too big and I’ve lost a couple of inches of waist, hips and a bit from my bust.

I pretty much stopped eating because of anxiety though, so wouldn’t recommend.

fairyfingers · 25/05/2020 13:06

About half a stone but it's been hard work to the extent I am have a day off today which I really shouldn't. I want to lose another stone but I'm averaging a lb a week really so v slow going.

I have done too much exercise and hurt my hip as well which isn't great - the exercise helps my mental wellbeing and motivation so without that I'm feeling a bit down .

But I've lost an inch off my waist and toned up my legs and the size 14 shorts I just bought are the opposite of tight. I'll get back in the horse tomorrow.....

JovialNickname · 26/05/2020 14:15

I'm so jealous of, and so admire, people that have deliberately lost weight during lockdown. I think it's amazing. How do you cope all day though, assuming you're not working? The only things to do are eat, drink and be merry! (although maybe I have a limited imagination).

Prior to lockdown I was really into exercise and loved going to the gym. I hate running though and don't have the space to work out at home. I'm guessing I've put on minimally a stone and got into some bad alcohol habits too. But I have found a personal trainer that will do socially distanced workouts in the park, so I'm looking forward to that, and I'm hoping he's going to whip me into shape despite my sagging waistline and total lack of motivation Grin

MulticolourMophead · 26/05/2020 14:44

I've lost nearly a stone, using the Noom app. Once I get to the end of this current paid for period, I'm switching to the free version of My Fitness Pal. Noom is good for getting my motivation up, and hopefully once I've got the right habits in place, it will be easier.

It's hard, as I have a very sweet tooth, but I've been stuffing myself full of veg and fruit, and feel less hungry than usual.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 26/05/2020 14:46

I haven’t weighted myself but a couple of people have commented that I’ve look like I’ve lost weight.
Quite surprised with the amount of junk food I’ve been consuming. I have however been walking quite a lot compared to normal.

SunshineSmellsLikeSummer · 26/05/2020 15:24

Haven't weight myself but I've lost an inch from all my measurements and my face is noticeably slimmer.

I'm WFH mostly; it means I have time to cook properly.

SunshineSmellsLikeSummer · 26/05/2020 15:24

*weighed

HoldMyLobster · 26/05/2020 15:31

I've lost 10lb and I've no idea how or why.

I have been wfh as normal, walking most days, eating what I'd consider a fairly normal amount.

Maybe it's because I have people to chat to when I take a work break, so I'm chatting instead of snacking?

lakeswimmer · 26/05/2020 15:39

Not lost weight (yet) but definitely fitter and more toned because I've got time to exercise.

Everyday I'm doing PE with Joe, yoga (which I'm loving and hope to continue) and getting out for a walk/run/bike ride. I generally do very little exercise and want to try and keep it up after lockdown.

Idontlikeyoghurt · 08/09/2020 18:10

Due to anxiety and stress I'm 2.5 stones lighter and now underweight ,no appetite whatsoever!! Hoping now we're into autumn it will return!

LionessRoar · 08/09/2020 18:24

Yes, I’ve lost one and a half stone. My eating habits are much better but still need to sort out my exercise. Got approx 2 1/2 stone more to lose

TeaOneSugar · 08/09/2020 18:34

Initially gained 7lb, had a few weeks of trying to be good and lost it again, then stopped being as good and gained a few pounds back, then started slimming world three weeks ago and I've lost 11lb. So a bit all over the place but I've lost weight overall.

I'm back in the swing of slimming world and finding it easier wfh.

sleepyhead · 08/09/2020 18:35

I put on weight in the first half, partly going back to bad snacking habits and partly large drop in activity as I was in the habit of walking a few miles a day as part of my commute.

In the second half, I've gone back to healthy eating and lost 10lbs, and taken up couch to 5k to get back to being active.

I'm definitely finding it easier to eat healthily and fit exercise into my day now and will have to make sure I work at it when I'm eventually back at my desk.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/09/2020 18:43

Yes. My friend has lost 2 stone. He looks amazing and has taken up cycling
