Dowser definitely ring the dentist

Can you get some Orajel for the interim?

Titania that hedgehog is gorgeous!

SomewhereEast · 19/05/2020 18:30

My current holiday murder spree plans are to take the kids to London for a few days in the summer, on the basis all the tourist attractions will be pleasantly uncrowded for once.

I would love to go to Greece! Was meant to be going to Portugal at mid-term Sad

LilacTree1 · 19/05/2020 18:32

SomewhereEast I don’t think any tourist attractions will be open?

SomewhereEast · 19/05/2020 18:33

I'm thinking end of August. Obviously not going to book till just before we go

LilacTree1 · 19/05/2020 18:33

Dowser agree re masks

I have asthma, but logic dictates, if I feel my breathing is impaired, so will others! Pleased to see not one mask wearer in the bus but I did see a few outside, which is the maddest thing of all.

Just checking in. Last I saw was the chat about KFC and BK.

Pottered out to get some new windscreen wipers. Drove a route that I haven't been on for a while. It was lovely. Drove past the park where I do my usual parkrun. Plenty of cars parked up along the road so there must be a few people in there. That was nice to see.

DS (yr10) looks like he might be returning to school for the core lessons from 8th June. Not sure how often he'll be in. I can't see it being all week as he's yr 10 and the government have only asked for some face to face to go with the home learning.

Im a bit worried DD2 wont be going in. She's year 3 so not one of the earlier years, but they did say that all primary to be back before the end of June. Will there be enough room for other years once they have split the other years?

I too have a holiday booked the end of August. We are booked to drive down to France. Really hope it will happen. Its not for another 13 weeks so plenty of time.

Are we due any major announcements again? When this all kicked off we knew it would be 3 weeks. Then Boris was in hospital and we were told another 3 weeks. Then we had the last one, but I'm just wondering if there are any more similar planned?

Anyway less than 2 weeks to go until June. Hopefully more things will start to move soon.

Mascotte · 19/05/2020 18:35

I think museums and stuff might open. Perfect for social distancing. And hopefully bookshops.

I'd be really happy with a trip down on the train, Tate modern, hatchards, nice food, with my boy

GeraltOfRivia · 19/05/2020 18:45

The head of my kids school says there is a council type meeting tomorrow with all the primary schools in our area to feedback the patent responses about opening. I hope they do. My kids need to go back. It no one else sends theirs in all the better. He can ease back gently. I'm emotional just thinking about it.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/05/2020 18:50

which is a vision I need about as much as the Chris Witty sex dreams

Had to follow you here from the other thread domina sorry for planting that Image 🤣. Listened to his lecture today. Oh yes. Whitty porn 🥰

I also discovered that my partner has a thing for Jennie Harries.....so feeling less guilty for the imaginary cheating.

As you were. I, going back to catch up on the previous thread and will see you shortly.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 19/05/2020 18:51

SomewhereEast

I have it on very good authority that Chessington are hoping to re-open the Animal side of the theme park but not the rides...by the end of June and I think London Zoo are hoping to do the same.

LilacTree1 · 19/05/2020 18:55

Leigh “I also discovered that my partner has a thing for Jennie Harries.....so feeling less guilty for the imaginary cheating. “

Um, I think you and your partner may be unwell 😱

CruCru · 19/05/2020 18:56

I'd love to see a loch. My husband and I were talking about doing a weekend in Scotland - now on hold.

Drivingdownthe101 · 19/05/2020 18:58

In our schools plans they have year 3 going in for one week at the end of term... it says ‘staffing TBC’. I can’t see it happening as there just won’t be the staff. Unfortunately I think years 3 and 4 are being considered ‘lowest priority years’ as no sats next year and no transitioning between key stages Sad. That’s just our school though, hopefully others will find a way of getting them back in.

HauntedGoatFart · 19/05/2020 19:00

I have found getting my news solely from this thread and Prof Sikora to be immensely soothing. I recommend it to anyone who is struggling right now.

I didn't do anything particularly murderous today other than go for a walk by the canal (people have pretty much given up leaping to the side of the narrow towpath), go to Lidl AND WALK STRAIGHT IN, and confirm that my DC is going back to school June 1. Oh wait. That is quite a lot of MURDER.

Mascotte · 19/05/2020 19:01

I think there may be signs of fever @Leighhalfpennysthigh ...

Pertella · 19/05/2020 19:02

DS is year3 and his school are opening to his year group at the end of june. Their plan is to have 8 children per class in for 1 day a week which is better than nothing.

Nihiloxica · 19/05/2020 19:07

Aw, so you share a Chief Medical Offer fetish.

That's beautiful. Wink

Bollss · 19/05/2020 19:07

Our council are doing a live Q&A on Facebook tomorrow. I plan to ask them whether they actually give a shite about children's welfare now they're recommended not re opening schools and nurseries.

I could cry. I really hope our nursery just fucking ignores the selfish pricks.

Nihiloxica · 19/05/2020 19:11

There is a genuine democractic deficit issue with local councils having the power to make decisions of this magnitude over people's lives, given the tiny numbers that vote in local elections.

(And the type of people who want to be involved in local politics, who tend to the busy body.)

Whether or not my children get to go to school is a decision for the national government. I do not want individual head teachers or local councillors having any say in the matter.

Bollss · 19/05/2020 19:21

Me neither. It's a political decision here it's a labour council. They don't give a shit about our kids.

rookiemere · 19/05/2020 19:21

I'm in a bad mood at the minute. My neck and shoulder is playing up and is usually sorted by a couple of physio sessions from the lovely practice that is handily positioned beside our local pub. Obviously not an option at the minute. I live in Scotland so it could be another decade before actual hands on contact is allowed.

I'm probably going to have to go back on the amiltryptyline as the only other thing that helps a bit, except I've been doing a running challenge and my resting heart rate is now quite low and the drug pushes it up and makes me groggy. Harrumph.

I do wonder how people in serious muscle pain are getting on, and the nice physio who probably thought she had a job in a profession that was safe for life.

Cattermole · 19/05/2020 19:22

@Dowser - I'm sure you have, and you probably know about it better than I do, but have you tried essential oil of cloves or biting down on a whole clove for the toothache? (The biting is a desperate measure I know...)
(tell me to bugger off if so)
