Planning a seaside trip, was thinking day trip, but I’ve seen on booking.com many hotels available to book next week
So has that been lifted as well now ?

Hotel sites state that bookings are for essential visits only and you need to provide proof or the booking will either be cancelled or the hotel will turn you away. This is on hotels.com and bookings.com.

I don't think OP is confused at all.

I think they're doing that faux confused 'I just don't understand why if it's okay for neighbours to have carpets fitted and to sit on a beach if I can't have a night in a hotel/sit in my friends front room' nonsense.

Yawn.

Good luck in a hotel. Especially getting a nice breakfast.... 😂

Some hotels are open for people who are working away from home. But they have no bar open, and no catering facilities.

My DH is a truck driver. They have particular facilities open for drivers. The public ones havent been open

thesnoopdragon · 18/05/2020 16:47

OP it is all very well shouting "yes you can" about beaches (you seem to have managed not to be confused about this)

What the poster was saying was that the sheer numbers of people travelling to the seaside for a nice day out can sometimes make it impossible to social distance when you get there.

joystir59 · 18/05/2020 16:51

We live in a popular seaside resort. Nothing is open and all roads to the seafront were closed at the weekend. Police are happily stopping people on the main roads into our town and fining people who don't have a good reason for travelling here, and that includes people who intend to stay overnight. The toilets, shops, pubs, cafes are all closed.

NameChange84 · 18/05/2020 17:04

You are really going to be everyone’s favourite person when you traipse into a truck stop Angry. You aren’t a HGV driver are you? Therefore the services are not open for YOU.

The poster was talking about their own seaside down letting you know it was impossible to social distance on the beach where they are.

Are you actually stupid?

Nicknacky · 18/05/2020 17:08

She’s not actually going, she’s just trying to wind people up because she didn’t get the response she wanted a couple of days ago. She threw her toys out the ram and then pretended she went for drinks at her pals.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/05/2020 17:13

To all the people claiming it’s a wind up, have you actually reported the thread?

Nicknacky · 18/05/2020 17:16

Why would we report it? Trying to get a rise out of people isn’t a breach of the guidelines and doesn’t make her a troll.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/05/2020 17:22

The definition of a troll is someone who is saying something to deliberately get a rise out of people. Hmm

okiedokieme · 18/05/2020 17:27

You can book hotels for essential travel eg my friends exh booked a hotel to see his kids to avoid taking them on public transport to take them to his house

Nicknacky · 18/05/2020 17:35

BeingATwatItsABingThing Report it yourself then. No skin off my nose.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/05/2020 17:49

I have.

BahHumPug · 18/05/2020 19:52

Your neighbour hasn't 'done enough' because she hasn't seen her family for eight weeks. The virus hasn't gone anywhere. Christ you're stupid.
