Planning a seaside trip, was thinking day trip, but I’ve seen on booking.com many hotels available to book next week
So has that been lifted as well now ?

No your not allowed to go away over night 🙄

You might fancy it but tough. The longer bastards like you do what they fancy the longer the rest of us can’t see family

I despair at adults unable to follow instructions I really do

Splitsunrise · 18/05/2020 09:35

Presume this is a pisstake....? We, hoping.

However much you might want something, OP, it doesn’t mean you can have it. Don’t you think we all fancy a holiday by the seaside?

Currently, you are not allowed to stay away overnight for leisure purposes.
I read somewhere the Gov wanted things back to a near normal in July, but not sure who this applied to (may have been just schools, not sure)
I expect there will be a lot if pressure on the Gov for hotels, pubs etc to open in August to get some of the summer season, but personally, I would not be boouking anything yet.

AmNot · 18/05/2020 10:21

OP is on the wind up.

They had threads a few days ago wondering if they should report neighbours for having a friend round and for having carpets fitted during lockdown (2 threads on carpets!).

They were told to MTOB so they then childishly stropped that since others didn't care about the 'rules' , they were going to see their friends that day and plan a trip to the seaside.

Bit pathetic really.

You want to go away for the night yesterday you had An attack of the vapours because a neighbour had a friend In their house and The carpet fitter the other day. Now you want to sleep In a strange room are you having a laughHmm

Lardlizard · 18/05/2020 10:46

Perhaps we should just go for the day then as this is so confusing 🤯🤯

Worth pointing out that in February I booked a hotel via hotels.com for mid-June, and they're currently only refunding on bookings up to 31 May. So, I can see why you might be assuming you could be going away in a couple of weeks. Just to clarify - I don't want to go, but I don't want to lose my money.

Moondust001 · 18/05/2020 10:48

Assuming this thread is for real rather than the wind up I rather suspect it is, and bearing in mind that I am far from being the most concerned person when it comes to the virus, but really?? I mean really?? You are planning a trip to a seaside resort on a bank holiday weekend, when, under normal circumstances, they will be heaving and the last place anyone would want to be? And now you'd like to add busy, and a highly infectious virus, and policing around the rules to a bank holiday weekend?

Lardlizard · 18/05/2020 10:49

Yep I’m at thankful I didn’t report the neighbour because I’m able to sit on it this realise that was not the right thing to do, she hasn’t had anyone over for 2 months so she’s done enough
Unlike some people on here I’m actually able to say oh yes, your right I was being unreasonable
I’m glad i didn’t just react before thinking about it first.
So actaully I’m glad for the advice

It’s just totally confusing when you look at booking.com etc and see you can book hotels for this week and everything is constantly changing

And also you can sit on the beach, swim in the sea, and sunbathe
You just have to remain 2 m away from people

HairyFloppins · 18/05/2020 11:01

There was a hotel in Blackpool on Facebook saying they are open for business. More and more have appeared on booking.com. I dream of getting away from my neighbours for a night or two but will wait a while yet.

Comefromaway · 18/05/2020 11:05

It’s not confusing.

Follow the government advice.

Ginfordinner · 18/05/2020 11:13

It really isn't confusing. I know that Boris is a bumbling idiot, but the government advice is very clear. And I would be inclined to follow government guidelines rather than anyone trying to make money out of you.

TwentyViginti · 18/05/2020 11:20

No, it really isn't. Keyworkers are no more allowed to go on holiday than anyone else. Residents in resort type places don't want you right now.

Mammaaof · 18/05/2020 11:22

OP you can see holidays abroad to book from next month also, doesn't mean we can go! Thick as fuck

midnightstar66 · 18/05/2020 11:28

Anyway my dh is a keyworker

Irrelevant unless he's traveling alone for work purposes

Yes you should, it's not confusing at all. Follow the guidelines not the fact the hotels are being chancers by taking your money and not mentioning you probably can't stay. And leave the tent, where do you think you'll be able to pitch it? Still think about logistics like if you need the loo while there.

ineedaholidaynow · 18/05/2020 11:37

Why is it so confusing? Some of what Boris has said has been confusing I grant you, but this specific issue has been raised and answered by the Government.

Splitsunrise · 18/05/2020 11:42

How is it confusing whether or not you can go on holiday? The guidance very clearly says you can’t!! I’m not sure why you’re looking at booking.com for answers...they don’t get to decide any of this

Danglingmod · 18/05/2020 11:46
  1. It's not confusing at all. It's absolutely crystal clear.
  2. Not sure where you think you're going to go to the toilet if you go out for a whole day plus 3 hrs' drive?
Legoandloldolls · 18/05/2020 12:26

Re Christmas markets. Come Dec and theres no vaccine. Let's face it in reality with no vaccine dec is no different to today is it? No mass gathering and keep to metres apart so my dream of something to look forward too in December isn't looking likely. We again normally book into travelodge and stay near a old favourite haunt to Christmas shop. Again same logic as no vaccine, I would be more realistic that you wont be keeping 2 metres apart.

This year is a write off unless we can get nearer than two metres.

Btw I went to a beach yesterday. It was within driving distance, we didnt need the loo as didnt drink and only stayed 3 hours. It's a huge stunning beach in the SE and deserted.

I also live in a area of SSI and outstanding beauty but because it's not a national park just mostly owned by NT I am happy to stay at home.

But with the socail distancing rules and no vaccine we wont go back to normal. How confident can we be that a vaccine is mass tested, approved rolled out to the entire UK by September term in three months? Or Dec in 6 months?

Time to start lining up two metres apart as soon as non essential shops open in time to get presents sorted or buy it all online.

Depressing. I hope 2021 brings more joy. This year is looking like a completely devoid of fun

Lardlizard · 18/05/2020 12:57

If we can’t get a hotel, we can simply go for the day
