Oh FFS sockyarn where did you hear that ? Angry

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 12:42

I'm too middle class to riot Grin but the SNP can fuck right off. My feelings for them have done from "mild dislike" to "outright hatred".

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 12:43

Sturgeon 2 deaths still no end in sight to lock down, you know there will be a kick back from this.

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 12:44

@SockYarn I am fucking raging! St Nicola the stickler is absolutely loving her power trip. I was honestly expecting a positive announcement re golfing/fishing/other outdoor stuff today. My poor relatives in Scotland. Sad

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 12:44

@rookiemere from the sainted Nicola's own lips on her daily briefing.

She'll set out a road map on Thursday but don't be expecting ANY changes whatsoever until the next lockdown review on 28th May.

Now the poundshop Chris Whitty speaking about the loss of smell/taste.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 18/05/2020 12:45

@Orangeblossom78 If it has a pH of 11.3 it's pretty acidic. If nothing's growing or living in it then humans probably shouldn't be in it either :)

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 12:46

Wales and Scotland have really lost the plot, Drakeford adamant we have not peaked in Wales yet.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 12:47

Oh now we are going with UK system of testing, doing our own which did not work was not because we were miffed with England. Yeah right.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 12:48

OH reckons Wales panicking because we went down our own road, will be at back of queue when it comes to the vaccine.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 18/05/2020 12:48

If it has a pH of 11.3 it's pretty acidic.

My knowledge of chemistry is 30 years out-of-date, but actually alkaline I think Grin

ilovecardigans · 18/05/2020 12:49

It completely blows my mind how much hero worship there is for Sturgeon in England. I'm absolutely convinced that she's using this situation as a means of boosting her support base and strengthening the case for Indyref 2. Honestly, she would make a drum out of the skin of her own mother in order to sound out her own praises (copyright Winston Churchill).

rookiemere · 18/05/2020 12:49

Aw no sockyarn how bloody depressing. Thing is the little things like socially distanced golf, allowing a bit more freedom to go a bit further, meeting one friend at a distance are not going to make a difference to the R number, particularly after so long in lockdown. Those little gestures would make such a big difference to most of us, but no leave us locked away a wee bit longer.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 18/05/2020 12:50

Randomly a celeb has asked opinions on schools and I was surprised to read this:
"I know by this point you have stopped reading the comments but I am a headteacher and I’ve been into work this morning splitting my school into impersonal zones. It doesn’t feel like school, children and staff won’t be able to socialise like they did. Children in the early years have had just about all the lovely cuddly things stripped from their rooms. My beautiful vibrant rooms are now sterile holding bays for the poor unfortunate children who arrive. Please don’t send your children, we all want to get back to normal but at the moment this is not normal and not fair to put the children in this environment. And don’t get me in about putting my staff at risk...😩"

Is it just me who loses respect for teachers/headteachers/ teaching staff who post this publicly all over SM.

I would be disciplined at work for that.

ThatLibraryMiss · 18/05/2020 12:50

It's alkaline, but the rest is spot on. Apparently it causes skin problems, who'da thunk it? There are signs warning about it but the lure of that beautiful water is strong.

BBC article from 2013.

DominaShantotto · 18/05/2020 12:53

YESSSSS!!!! I got DD2 back into school! Offered to quarantine them for a week when they come back from grandparents, and she has to stay in the keyworker/vulnerable bubble if her year group DID return to school - but they've finally listened!

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 12:53

It completely blows my mind how much hero worship there is for Sturgeon in England.

I get it, partly. For a few years now your traditional Labour voter south of the border has been totally lost, if they didn't identify with Corbyn. They looked north of the border and saw someone who was taking on the government and challenging them.

Lots of people on MN like her because she's a strong woman. They see her as straight talking and left wing.

What they're not seeing is the clusterfucks of Curriculum for Excellent, fuck ups like the new Sick Kids in Edinburgh or the unified Scottish police force and the relentless pursuit of independence AT ALL COSTS. They like the IDEA of Nippy, because they don't have to live with the reality.

Just going to say it again. FUCKS SAKE.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 18/05/2020 12:54

@justasking111 I saw that too - many thanks to the WG for sorting mental health with a helpline. My daughter doesn't need to chat with another adult, she needs to play with another 8 year old. Honestly, I'm at the point where I'm regretting not being friends with people who'll break the rules.

@Orangeblossom78 I don't want to protest if it's with the people who want everything lifted straightaway and they always seem to be on that end of the scale. I'm like most of you...just need a bit of easing up to make life a bit more sociable in life, not on bloody Zoom. I wonder if there are others like me? Happy to do my bit to stop the spread, but wanting mental health to be a key part of releasing lockdown.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 12:57

You just know Drakeford is going to follow in Sturgeons footsteps, she says, he does, not an original thought in his head.

rookiemere · 18/05/2020 12:58

I've just realised as well that my workmate will be riled up about the lack of golf for now and we're in a big meeting this afternoon which could get shouty, Fun times.

Also realised where the money is going to come from when England rightly refuse to bankroll longer furloughs in Scotland - yup an additional increase on the already different from England higher rate tax bandings due to the SNPs seemingly dogged hatred of anyone middle class.

Sorry if off topic BlushConfused just so annoyed - didn't realise how much I was pinning my hopes on being able to travel a little bit further afield next week when off for half term.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 12:59

Not sure how much sense a mental health helpline will get out of grandkids, one 5 year old, 3, 3 year olds, and a 1 year old. They have lost school, playgroups, everything. Their socialisation skills down the toilet.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 13:00

@SockYarn ffs this is beyond ridiculous now.

Dom that is fantastic news.

justasking111 · 18/05/2020 13:01

If I was Boris, would tell them to crack on ploughing their own furrows, but England will not sub. them if the unions are pulling the strings.

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 13:01

Ah - I didn't click it was English half term next week? That's what it's all about then, isn't it? Keep you English south of the border to preserve the health of the blessed Scots.

I'm tempted to phone my mum, tell her to drive to Carlisle and I'll meet her there.

Bollss · 18/05/2020 13:01

Good news @DominaShantotto!!! Hope your daughter gets on well when she goes back Smile
