What's everyone up to today?

I need to re-grout the bottom two rows of tiles in my bathroom (around the bath), after the plumber couldn't actually find a leak last weekend, but suggested that might help with the "raining" on the stairs even though the bath was only fitted 2 years ago. If not, we're back to square 1.

The girls had Just Dance delivered yesterday so are likely to spend at least some of the day playing that. They're still sleeping atm after sitting singing along to many many musical videos on Youtube last night while I tried to read my book.

I need to look at my Risk Assessment for my Guides trip to Kingswood which they have re-scheduled for the moment (whether or not it will go ahead, I don't know) and get that sent off to my Division Commissioner.

I might put some washing on too; it's windy outside so should blow dry.

Not a clue what's for tea yet; I have leftover Chinese takeaway from last night, so might have that and see if the girls fancy a picnic tea of some sort.

What about you lot? :)

Ironing
Rolling my eyes at threads on MN
Wanted to sit in the garden, it's sunny but a bit cold so that's out.
I am going to get all my make up out and have a sort through, wash the brushes and put it all back neatly.
Go through the pantry.

Not v exciting TBH.

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 11:30

Talking of your leak lucysmam it reminds me of a few years ago when DS2 was showering. We got small drips of water running down the wall in the hall. Plumber came and found no leak whatsoever, no sign of water even. It never happened again. So weird.

lucysmam · 16/05/2020 11:31

Sparkling I washed my make up brushes the other day, and started sorting through skincare/make up. Most of it went back because it does occasionally come out.

& my pantry could do with a sort out but I've been slowly decorating downstairs and it's turned into a hidey spot for many things at the mo so will probably wait a bit longer.

This is the 5th plumber to find no leak...the raining on the stairs and state of the front hallway walls say differently though . It's really bloody annoying!

I find that any sort of tidying at the moment involves moving stuff from one place and dumping it in another.
The tip and charity shops are closed so can't do a huge clearout which I really need to do. I could put it all in the garage but that would get me down.

The tip in the next town over is open and the queue is 1 1/2 hours to get in. Shock

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2020 11:38

Kick-starting my fitness, did a Private Park Walk, obviously was designated tail walker.

Showered, dog walked.

Now looking at a leg of lamb that needs marinating. Will start the BBQ, cook garlic prawns for lunch then put the leg of lamb in for tea, aubergines for baba ganoush and sweet potato chunks.

Today revolves around food!

Sparklingbrook · 16/05/2020 11:43

I know that when I go for a long walk I come back feeling all invigorated and ready to do stuff @CuriousaboutSamphire. And yet I am sat here in my dressing gown. Sad

ILiveInSalemsLot · 16/05/2020 11:48

I need to make sure today doesn’t revolve around food! Trying to lose a few lbs so some exercise and a long walk is on the cards although dd wants to bake some brownies.
I’ve already done some work but need to do a bit more.
Lots of cleaning as the house has become a tip.
Read my book in the garden.
Cook some dinner.
Watching a film with the kids later.

wendz86 · 16/05/2020 11:50

I cleaned the house this morning. DD1 has her dance lesson on zoom shortly. DD2 is playing with play dough. Will try and drag them out for a walk later.

Lockdownlife · 16/05/2020 11:51

I'm going to finish clearing out my wardrobes and do some washing.

Will probably have leftover chicken kebab skewers for lunch with some burrata and salad type bits. (Food shop needed tomorrow!)

Will go for a nice walk later after the expected rain shower we're sadly due to have.

Tonight I've no idea what we'll have for dinner. Maybe some salmon fillets from the freezer. Then some TV or a film.

ritzbiscuits · 16/05/2020 11:54

Ballet with the boy this morning. My ballet class this pm.

Pulled out a half done crochet blanket that I need to start again and finish off while I have lockdown time.

Bit of washing, need a few things from the shops.

imsooverthisdrama · 16/05/2020 11:56

I'm feeling quite down today it's partly my own fault drank a bottle of wine last night on not much food . So I've not felt like my usual morning exercise, in fact I'm feeling like I don't want to do anything at all really .
I'm going to take the dc out after lunch for a walk , hopefully this will lift my mood and I've ironing to do but may put that off till tomorrow. Sad

gingercat02 · 16/05/2020 11:57

Going to meet my Mum for a socially distanced walk to the sea and buy ds an ice cream as the gelaterias on the prom are open again 😀🍦

GrouchyKiwi · 16/05/2020 11:58

I'm knitting some booties for a friend whose baby is due any time - might even be arriving today so I really need to finish them!

And then I'll finally get around to cleaning the ground floor, but only once DH has finished mowing the lawns or he'll traipse grass all through the house.

Saturdays are Dadurday in our house, so DH will take the children & dog off for their mandated wander this afternoon, giving me an hour of peace.

Babymamaroon · 16/05/2020 12:08

So far I'm still in PJs and have baked banana bread. Will have a shower in a minute then head out on a long woodland walk. We have a quiz tonight with friends.

All sounds a bit boring really...

CuriousaboutSamphire · 16/05/2020 12:08

I have to be very careful to avoid that @sparklingbrook. I have ME/CFS if I give in to the invigorated feeling I sleep for a week Smile

So I watched the Sewing Bee and am now waiting for the BBQ to be ready (thank god for the lighting chimney thing, it takes about 20 minutes).

lucysmam · 16/05/2020 12:10

@CuriousaboutSamphire garlic prawns sound tasty!

@imsooverthisdrama I hope your walk helps lift your mood Thanks

@gingercat02 that sounds like a lovely way to spend the day.

@GrouchyKiwi I like the sound of Dadurday Grin. What will you do with yourself while they're out?

I’m working from home.
I usually work 3 week days, but due to childcare I’m having to work Saturdays now Sad
I’m customer facing so I had a call at 10, which ended early, and my next isn’t until 2.30 so I’m currently laid on the sofa with ds1 while dh is putting ds2 down for a nap.

It’s bloody freezing here, I have 2 jumpers and ugg boots on and I’m still cold. Ds1 is sitting here in shorts and t shirt Hmm.

Looking forward to tomorrow as it’s the only day dh and I both have off work.

GrouchyKiwi · 16/05/2020 12:18

@lucysmam It's great. I'm a SAHM and home educator so getting a little bit of time without the children is vital, especially now when they don't have their usual activities. I usually watch an episode of something (it's Blue Heelers on Prime atm) and faff about on the computer. Today I might tackle the Mending Pile of Doom.

ParkheadParadise · 16/05/2020 12:22

I'm in the bath
Dd is running around outside in the garden with a fairy dress and wings on plus a pair of peppa pig wellies. DH is making rolls n sausage for lunch.
I plan to spend the afternoon on the sofa with dd watching the lion king scoffing the cupcakes dh bought this morning.

nowaitaminute · 16/05/2020 12:23

Getting the tent up and food ready for a camp fire...yummy yummy

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 16/05/2020 12:25

It is sunny but cool - so the washing is out and I'm not.
We need new furniture in the bathroom, to store towels, toothpaste and other stuff and to give a designated space to all 4 of us. So I am working on that.
Agreed with DS on a worklplan for his next 4 exams. The combination of on site and online schooling seems to be good for him after the initial disruption (AS).
And I have promised make brownies for DD and muffins for DS.

User473830 · 16/05/2020 12:26

Cleaning unfortunately.

aliceinsunderland44 · 16/05/2020 12:29

Having a bit of a down day today. No motivation to do anything. Dc been on screens all morning. Hoping to do some baking and a dog walk later. Then maybe a takeaway and film tonight. Have read a little but feeling really flat. Im fed up because I'm bored but can't quite find the energy to do anything...

TheWoollybacksWife · 16/05/2020 12:30

I've got chicken pieces in the oven ready to make wraps for lunch and I've got a chilli in the slow cooker for tonight's dinner. I'll put lunch together when DH finishes his call to his mum.

I'm crocheting a blanket for woolly hugs so I'll work on that this afternoon. DS has had his karate lesson via zoom this morning so he's on the PS4 this afternoon. DD1 is working on a craft project for her best friend's baby, DD2 is at work and DH is going to build some shelves for the garage and watch the Bundesliga on TV.
