Just wondering if this is illegal or not

No I don't believe it is illegal

Mooey89 · 15/05/2020 07:16

It’s not illegal for them to do because they cannot work from home.
However morally for the purchaser I’m not so sure.

BrightonBB · 15/05/2020 07:18

No - it is not illegal

No. They can't work from home and they're not one of the businesses that have been ordered to shut by the government.

Parkandride · 15/05/2020 07:18

So many post about carpet fitters this morning.

Carpet fitters can't work from home so they can work

NoCaseToAnswer · 15/05/2020 07:22

Why 2 threads asking OP?

Bluntness100 · 15/05/2020 07:24

Why two threads, this is perfectly acceptable Work. What’s your issue?

PegasusReturns · 15/05/2020 07:26

This is fine.

Are you an irritated neighbour if someone having a carpet fitted or an irritated spouse of a carpet fitter?!

Utterlydespairing · 15/05/2020 07:27

It’s perfectly fine. Non essential businesses have been open all the way through this

Veterinari · 15/05/2020 07:30

@Lardlizard
Does this question really need two threads?

insancerre · 15/05/2020 07:55

It’s not illegal

vanillandhoney · 15/05/2020 08:10

They never had to stop.

You could always continue going to work if you couldn't work from home.

Lardlizard · 15/05/2020 21:39

Ah, I did one yesterday and no one replied so then Today posted it in the right section
Doesn’t really matter why I’m
Asking does it? But someone on my
street has been doing this
And also having friends round and sitting in the living room with friends

We had a paint incident since lockdown that ruined our lounge carpet. Decided to replace with wood flooring so not quite the same, but we didn't struggle to find 3 companies to quote who were all still working and had the one we were happy with come out last week to fit it. The company asked that certain 'rules' were observed, including that we had no direct contact with the fitter and didn't stay in the same area of the house whilst he was working, which was all fine.

Nicknacky · 15/05/2020 21:45

How do you know they ate sitting in the living room?

byvirtue · 15/05/2020 21:46

We have moved past “essential” working. Everyone is entitled to work and make a living even carpet fitters. Plus it’s not like you hang around whilst your carpet is being fitted, very easy to social distance.

Lardlizard · 15/05/2020 21:52

so I saw the friend arrive, get greeted, go in, stay for about an hour and a half, sitting in the living room, less than two meters apart, then after an hour and a half, visitor left
And was Escorted out and waved off

Nicknacky · 15/05/2020 21:53

I think you are watching your neighbours way too much.

NoHardSell · 15/05/2020 21:55

Of course it's not illegal

WorraLiberty · 15/05/2020 22:00

Sorry but that sounds creepy as fuck. Watching your neighbours to that extent and then posting it up on the internet? < Shudders >

A quick Google will tell you that the guidelines has always been that if you can't work from home you can go to work, as long as safe distancing is possible, so obviously that includes carpet fitters.

iklboo · 15/05/2020 22:01

It sounds like you're snooping through the windows.

Bluntness100 · 15/05/2020 22:13

This isn’t right op, the pandemic doesn’t make what you’re doing ok, it doesn’t justify it, stop spying on your neighbours, seriously.

Lardlizard · 16/05/2020 10:44

I’ve been working on my garden so I’ve seen it all

Lardlizard · 16/05/2020 10:45
