Is this a new low? (Lighthearted)

Please cheer me up! I'm feeling a bit down with the whole Covid situation, I was made redundant a few months ago and not many companies are hiring right now (previously senior role with huge commitments/weekly travel).

Tonight I reached a new low when I was heading upstairs to shower and change out of yesterday's PJ's into fresh PJ's, I tripped up the stairs twice while carrying my glass of wine and peed myself a little Confused Make me feel better and tell me I'm not the only one who could be doing better?

Amazing.

I peaked last week when I told the dc they could as much time on screens as they wanted and eat anything from the snack cupboard they wanted, but they must not disturb me unless someone was bleeding (in my defence, I was handling a rather tricky child protection conference).

pandoschmando · 14/05/2020 14:59

Well at least your DC's were fed and occupied!

Did you spill your wine? That would have resulted in a new low here too.

Flippetydip · 14/05/2020 15:06

In a fit of trying to be a "fun mum" at the beginning of lockdown I went on the trampoline with DD. I not only peed myself, I also wrecked my back, which I am still paying for 6 weeks later.

ifonly4 · 14/05/2020 15:25

Another one, hoping your didn't spill and waste any of your wine!

Windyatthebeach · 14/05/2020 15:36

Our stupid ddogs ran off last night on the beach. Had to let dc try and catch them as I soooo needed a wee I knew I best not run!!
Poor dd had to carry her back!! She had forgot to take the lead when she set off to get her!!

willowmelangell · 14/05/2020 15:44

I too have tripped up the stairs. Alcohol related. Didn't feel a thing until the next day.

Stompythedinosaur · 14/05/2020 18:03

Indeed. They are about 5 mini rolls each and didn't want lunch. So in some ways it was a double win!

DubiousGoals · 14/05/2020 18:19

I went full 'covid cliche' and decided to make bread yesterday, now I can barely move my arms. Kneading is hard work!

FizzyPink · 14/05/2020 18:22

I was influenced by someone on Instagram into buying a mop the other day Blush my old life was so much more exciting than this!

Flippinfurloughed · 14/05/2020 18:25

You poor bugger. Was the wine okay? I paid Ds £5 in robucks and a bag of mini haribo to let me have a bath in peace. I regret nothing.

LadyDoc1 · 14/05/2020 19:29

I've bought a steam cleaner and 3 new bins in recent days, ha! Brutal

RabbitsGoneRogue · 14/05/2020 19:47

Loving this thread! I have taken to drinking my Saturday lunchtime wine in a water glass so I feel less judged by my offspring....

Spirogyra3 · 14/05/2020 19:51

Best Covid thread!

ohlookthisisjustdaftnow · 14/05/2020 19:56

I ate some of DH's home-made coleslaw yesterday.

OMG the wind. Shock

Still, he had to breathe it in all night, so it's his own fault Grin

Gingernaut · 14/05/2020 20:00

I've 'patch tested' myself with shop bought plasters and a sample of what it was I thought I was allergic to.

I've reacted to the sample so badly, I've caused chemical burns and I've reacted to the plasters.

I've now got to gently peel the plasters off Shock, address the carnage underneath them, find alternatives I'm not allergic to and find some way of getting better.

This made me snigger! I know exactly what you mean. I bought a new anti-bac spray cleaner from Morrisons because a You Tube vlogger said it smelt like rhubarb. It actually smells horrible Sad and then I remembered that the vlogger did open all of her kitchen windows afterwards...I should have known!

I'm also finding all the adverts on my FB feed oddly compelling. Bras that push up but are very comfortable because of science, magnetic eyelash extensions, a brush/hairdryer that dries, straightens and volumizes you hair with no frizz! My bullshit detector must be on the blink because I kind of want it all.

Lemuriformes · 14/05/2020 20:05

Same here. I am doing so much unnecessary online shopping. Today I have bought a water filter jug, some tea lights and some plant pots.

I would have probably fallen up the stairs carrying wine if I didn’t live in a flat.

Harryrotter · 14/05/2020 20:12

Fluffiest don’t buy a hairbrush dryer thing unless it’s the dyson one, the others are all shit.

I wonder how many social workers own children are being somewhat neglected at home so we can carry on working 🤔

lonelySam · 14/05/2020 20:31

I bought a new vacuum and then proceeded to discuss the said vacuum with my manager on a call about my year end bonus.
My toddler walked into the room while I was on Zoom and waved at my manager. She cannot stop talking about him ever since.
We sang 'Baby shark' 23 times yesterday. I counted.
I get drunk on a sofa every night. I think I might have alcohol dependency once this is all over.

mynameisntlouise · 14/05/2020 20:39

My newborn is now about 3 weeks old, the other week when he was still a novelty to my toddler, he wanted to 'help' change his nappy so sat between my husbands legs in front of the change mat. My husbands arms either side of the toddler, doing the nappy. Baby does an explosive poo, it's everywhere including on my toddlers pyjamas, so toddler starts gagging, I pick him up under the armpits to get the pooey pyjamas off him on the linoleum in the kitchen but my husband has already started pulling the pyjamas off his ankles, he's being pulled either side in midair, baby still lay in his own shit, husband and I crying with laughter and then a bit of wee came out. My 1 week postpartum pelvic floor stood no chance.

managedmis · 14/05/2020 21:08

DD (3).is currently watching

Velvian · 14/05/2020 21:11

At least you were on the way to the shower, op. Would have been worse to pee yourself after.

I worked all day (at home) in my sports bra and tracksuit in prep for a run after work. But I just decided to go straight for the bath and skip the run, the bath was coldAngry (thanks, DS!). DH then got home with a massive Chinese takeaway, which I ate far too much of.

Zaphodsotherhead · 14/05/2020 21:36

I have eaten half a box of After Eights. And all the cakes I made this afternoon. I regret nothing.

pandoschmando · 14/05/2020 23:23

It was my first glass and I didn't think I was even tipsy yet! I blame my ill fitting slippers that have stretched from my son borrowing them. Thankfully it was a large slightly tapering glass and was only filled a quarter by the time I got to the stairs so there was limited spillage (from the wine anyway Hmm).
